Lasted 13 years – Just replaced this Hitachi with a new Bosch. Worked well for 13 years. The door seal had mold growing in it that could not be removed, it also started shaking alot on the spin cycle. Could have replaced the door seal my self for about $70 and now know you should wipe out the door seal on all front loaders after use. Looking at the new Bosch I'd say Bosch made the old Hitachi so hoping for another 10+ years.

Best Machine since sliced bread – Have to admit, it was my first front loader, but i loved it. Dont know what the other reviews were doing differently to me?? We do have quite soft water here, but still? I cram it full of clothes, and bung an extra rinse cycle on, and the clothes come out perfectly clean, soft and smelling lovely...just like a normal load-size with no extra rinse. Tissues in the dark load; open the door and there is a soggy clump in the door seal, and not a speck on your black jeans!

Not a single maintenance issue after 9 years, of hard work! But sadly it has just died, and replacement parts are no longer, due to Hitachi selling out to Bosch...boohoo! I would rather buy another second hand one than buy new, by a different brand!

Loved my Hitachi front loader...RIP Reliable, energy efficient, perfect cleaning. Never skipped a beat in 9 years Cycles are long, but thats with all front loaders. No more Hitachi...no more parts!

Was a fairly Ok machine, only lasted 7 years – The HWF800 was a reasonable machine. I think the trouble folks have with “starchiness” is they were using too much detergent. My advice is to ignore the information on the detergent box and just use half a scoop for any size load – that worked for us, good clean comfortable washing every time. We have had the machine for 7 years now, family of two adults and two children, so I’d say it has had normal use. Problems have been:

1. The Door Seal was punctured by a bobby pin. $116.00 for a replacement seal and ten minutes to fit it.

2. A frog got in and died in the pump inlet. I suggest people keep the door and detergent drawer closed.

3. Now the brushes in the motor have worn out. Hitachi want $135 for a pair of new brushes, that is 25% the price of a replacement washing machine.

Hitachi machines may be off the market now but you can buy an almost identical machine sold as a Bosch and probably manufactured in the same factory in Thailand.

I am disappointed with Hitachi the company, and I won't be buying the Bosche branded copy because it will likely only last 7 years as well and there are really bad reports about their after sales service.

Our previous machine was 22 years old when I couldn’t get a unique hose for it and decided to upgrade. It would be good if new machines lasted at least 11 years. Washes well, reliable, can still buy almost the same machine but now sold as a Bosch. Parts are expensive, Re-Branded Bosch with reported dissapointing After Sales Service.

Terrible – leaves the clothes smelly as if washed with stagnant water although I empty the stagnant water in it every time I use it better not to do same mistake, choose another brand works well with a low water pressure leaves the clothes smelly as if washed with stagnant water although I empty the stagnant water in it every time I use it
