I picked up my newer Holden Captiva CG LTZ MY18 on Wednesday. I usually keep the Car Radio Code in my manual handy shouId ever have a service and the mechanics disconnect the battery. I don't want to have to take it to a Holden Dealer and pay $33 for the code. I am wondering if it could be 117011 which is sticky taped to the front of the manual? Could someone let me know please if they know for sure? Thanks

I have a 2016 LTZ Captiva Diesel. Recently the yellow spanner light has come on and the car is over revving when idle. But goes back to normal when I press the brakes. Anyone know what the issue could be?

There is a way to reset it. But all my attempts have failed. Holden can reset it for you. They charge though..

i have Holden Captiva LTZ 7 seater MY18 from 2018 till now. it has done about 73000km and my mechanic suggested to me to sell it as normally holdens start to have problems after 80k kms. i didnt had any major problems so far. what should i do?

Mine is 2009 diesel and done 117000km and has been good so far. The most expensive job has been a new radiator and top coolant hoses ( $1200) which has just been done. My mechanic has also been warning me regarding Captiva the last few years but I feel it’s been good value for me. I’ve usually heard 100,000km as being the “scary number”.
Upgrading to equivalent two year old Toyota will be $50,000 and I’m not prepared to go there until I’m forced to.

We had driven 150km on the highway, got into airport parking and the front wheels started to grab. I reversed into the park, we had flight to catch. Is it safe to drive when we return?

My diesel auto captiva stays in 4th at 60kph @ 20000rpm.. I would have thought it should change in to 5th and drop to around 1500rpm.. thoughts ??

Hi Craig.. the car does go in to top gear at about 63kph and about 1500rpm and will stay in top gear at 60kph..I'm finding it crazy that I have to get up to that speed just to get it to change to cruise at the more economical top gear.. I was wondering if that is typical or as you suggest something is not quite right.. as a consequence I'm often driving around in 5th gear instead of 6th..and using about 12 to 13 litres per 100 kilometres.. cheers

Locksmiths can supply a key and program it to the car, as well as a dealer if you have the money.

I had a similar problem. If your vehicle is fitted with towing lights. Ask your local Auto Electrician to assist

I’ve recently purchased a 2014 diesel Ltz Captiva 7, after 2 weeks of owning it I noticed it had started to rev higher than normal, sitting on just over 2000rpms at 55/60kms and doesn’t want to shift up to 5th gear until around 65/70kms not even in manual selection. Have taken it back to Holden they couldn’t fault it. Since then the fan has been coming on at high speed once the vehicle is turned off and a very strong burning smell, I’m aware of the dpf process however no lights come on the dash or no indication at all that that is what it is doing and sometimes 4/5 times a day then a few days with it not happening then again 1 or 2 times a day. The vehicle has also just started intermittently shuddering, while driving home the other night on a 45 minute trip at around an average speed of 60/80kms it would shudder on and off at first I thought I had a flat tyre so pulled over and the tyres were fine, carried on and it continued to do it, more so when I accelerated. The vehicle at the time was in eco mode (as this is the only way I’ve found to somewhat combat the high revving as it upshifts sooner) so I turned it off thinking that may be causing the shuddering due to fuel limitations while in eco mode however it made no difference and kept doing it. Anyone else experiencing similar issues? I’m waiting to hear back from my dealership.

I have the same issue. What did they find?

i own a ltz 2016 diesel captiva. I think what you describe is normal. 2k rpm to accelerate as normal. if try to take over usually goes beyond 2.5k - 3k rpm to boost some power. Shifting manual usually i only use for down gear rarely used for up, so can't really commend on that but so far has not experience any shifting gear auto issue. the issue i have so far is recently the rpm stay constant at 1500 rpm, and service light (car with spanner) on. i think this is the throttling issue but i may be wrong, bring back to the service centre and may cause invoices... btw when you found your issue pls share

Has anyone had any trouble with high fuel consumption usage on a petrol 2014 holden captiva 7 Ltz. Was bought from new and all services have been completed. It makes a funny noise when starting like it’s struggling to start. We have taken it into the dealership we purchased it from and they say there is nothing wrong with it. It is getting less than 300km to a tank and averaging about 20l per 100km. It has less than 50,000km on it. We just replaced the tyres on it but the fuel usage has gotten worse. We mostly drive around town for school drop offs and pick ups and groceries, there is a little highway driving aswell.

16-20L/100km's around town is fairly normal for a 6 cylinder 2 ton SUV.
Even the 4 cylinder mid range SUV's use 10-15L/100km's in city driving.
