We looked around for what would be most friendly for our finances, but with good customer service reviews. Up came homestar. Due to our circumstances we are of limited income, and so didn't have huge confidence that we would get passed for our loan.
We met the unofficial hurdles at the start, but met a speed hump over a high student loan situation.
Our consultant, Ghada Coulton was able to explain things in more certain terms to the bean counters that we would still be able to meet the terms of the loan, despite the student loan, as objectively - that was reality.

I refinanced with Homestar on the Star Gold Home Loan. I chose this loan as I wanted the lowest cost variable loan by low fee and low interest rate.

Low Rates, Flexible Loans and Fantastic Service.
I found Homestar through Cannex. I found their home and investment loan products to be very competitive, flexible and to top it off highly competitive interest rates. I applied for these products for both investment and residential loans and I was given a very good interest rate. I would also like to single out PATRICK VERGA who dealt with my application. PATRICK at all times was clear, timely and very professional and patient with us.
Super competitive rate and efficient service
I contacted homestar for refinancing and spoke with Carolyn from the sales support team. Despite being a little inquisitive about my current loans and securities, all was good and she then put me in touch with Rick from their loan specialist team. Rick was excellent. Super efficient and clear in his communications. Our loan wasn't so straight forward (we came from a loan set up with 1x PPOR and 1x IP with both loans cross collateralised and needed to set up just 1 security against 2 split loans) and Rick did a great job in assessing this and ma...king sure it all worked out. We had to fill out a lot of documentation but this is not unusual (unless a broker is preparing your loan). During the process we also came across a competitors product which was slightly more competitive so we discussed this with Rick and he managed to set us up with a great deal. The new internet banking looks very good and easy to use and just waiting now for our debit cards to come through. The customer service phone line has always been very helpful and efficient. It honestly feels as though you are dealing with a small family company in that everyone you speak to has the authority and the ability to just get things sorted and make decisions. That shouldn't be taken the wrong way either as they were highly professional in all their communications. We are extremely happy with the competitive rates and solution offered by Homestar. I just wish we made contact with Homestar sooner! Only negative would be the lack of Apple/Google/Samsung pay on their debit cards, but this is something we can live with when you consider the fantastic rates from Homestar. Great rate with no ongoing fees and friendly service.
I reached out to the Homestar team after some research to refinance our properties. Patrick throughout the whole process was very prompt to assist with all our enquiries. Ash was very helpful in assisting us with liaising with the solicitors. The documents required was abit more than the standard big 4 banks but once you get all your docs sorted it's following the bouncing ball. Patrick and Ash was a great team who got the job done for us with our refinance. Highly recommended.

Was looking to refinance my home loan for a better interest rate and found HomeStar Finance. They have a great interest rate and were very easy to deal with. Great interest rate - easy to refinance
Ash was our home loan consultant and most communications were completed through email which suited us as we had things in writing to refer to as we went along the process. It was mostly hassle free. Ash kept us up to date in a timely manner. The reason we refinance was because it was a much better interest rate. Would recommend Homestar Finance to anyone looking for a better rate.

Really slow moving company
I put an application to this company due to the fact that there were a lot of positive reviews, but I think they are not true because people are offered reward for positive reviews. Therefore I would like to write a real and truthful experience. After sending the signed contract to them, they said they need 10 business days for final approval. Now it is almost 3 weeks and we are still waiting. Instead of listing all the questions for us to attend, the ask us one question a day. We attend immediately to the question, then few days latter another...question, then waiting, then another question... just keep going. They should have work more efficiently, list all the questions, tick the list then move to the next client. In addition, the communication was not there, we need to chase up and call up at least few times per day to see the progress. I deal with the other banks before and the process was really smoothly, and now my financial position is much more better than before, they still come up with some weird and irrelevant questions. They might be a cheaper than other banks but the required hassles and efforts are a lot. I think I made a mistake of going to this cheap lender.
Competitive interest rate, good customer service
We are pleased that our refinancing settlement has just taken place. Our former lender RESI was noncompetitive and uncommunicative. We are looking forward to realising the financial benefits and much better product features from HomeStar. I've given 4 stars instead of five because the loan process was a bit slow to get started, otherwise it would be a "five".

I just refinanced my loan with Homestar, leaving a Big 4 bank that I had banked with for about 2 decades, and I’m very glad that I made the move. Homestar has provided excellent customer service and a very competitive product. After negotiating with my previous bank and many hours writing emails and making phone calls (long waits, while Homestar connected calls within minutes), they offered an interest rate that was still 0.61% higher than the rate offered by Homestar. From start to end, the process has been easy and smooth and everyone has bee...n responsive, helpful, transparent and straightforward. My loan specialist is Jenny Hampshire, who has been super in answering all my questions promptly, keeping in touch with me and supporting my learning throughout this process, even talking to me outside her working hours. Joy Domingo and May Acuna from the sales enquiries call centre were on the ball, responsive and helpful, as was Mike Matsis from Gadens, who helped to facilitate a speedy and smooth settlement. The only trade-off is banking technology and associated processing times; Homestar offers a simple online platform for banking and transactions take longer than my previous bank, which offered an excellent app and instant transactions between accounts. However, Homestar's platform offers all that you need, and only requires you to be a bit more organised. I also see that Homestar recently improved its online platform. The loan application and settlement process is also quite manual, but if you simply follow the instructions, it can all be done smoothly and quickly. I've been with Homestar for almost two years, now, and they've been very good in passing on any Reserve Bank increases.
The best thing I did mortgage-wise was to leave loans.com.au for Homestar, even though it cost more than $600 in fees to loans.com.au.

1. Homestar has a Mobile App project for both Android and Apple on our roadmap
2. Outgoing transfers are not currently instantaneous (via Osko or the like) and go through the standard inter-bank process. This is a project on our roadmap to offer our customers
3. Homestar has no ATM fees when using a bank ATM. The usage of other ATM's (e.g. in clubs or sporting venues) may incur an ATM Owner's fee and this is displayed on the screen of the ATM at the time of the withdraw being made. This fee is not a Homestar fee.
