Competitive interest rate, good customer service
We are pleased that our refinancing settlement has just taken place. Our former lender RESI was noncompetitive and uncommunicative. We are looking forward to realising the financial benefits and much better product features from HomeStar. I've given 4 stars instead of five because the loan process was a bit slow to get started, otherwise it would be a "five".
Excellent product and customer service
I just refinanced my loan with Homestar, leaving a Big 4 bank that I had banked with for about 2 decades, and I’m very glad that I made the move. Homestar has provided excellent customer service and a very competitive product. After negotiating with my previous bank and many hours writing emails and making phone calls (long waits, while Homestar connected calls within minutes), they offered an interest rate that was still 0.61% higher than the rate offered by Homestar. From start to end, the process has been easy and smooth and everyone has bee...n responsive, helpful, transparent and straightforward. My loan specialist is Jenny Hampshire, who has been super in answering all my questions promptly, keeping in touch with me and supporting my learning throughout this process, even talking to me outside her working hours. Joy Domingo and May Acuna from the sales enquiries call centre were on the ball, responsive and helpful, as was Mike Matsis from Gadens, who helped to facilitate a speedy and smooth settlement. The only trade-off is banking technology and associated processing times; Homestar offers a simple online platform for banking and transactions take longer than my previous bank, which offered an excellent app and instant transactions between accounts. However, Homestar's platform offers all that you need, and only requires you to be a bit more organised. I also see that Homestar recently improved its online platform. The loan application and settlement process is also quite manual, but if you simply follow the instructions, it can all be done smoothly and quickly. Jenny and Mike were also great in following up speedily to ensure all paperwork was in order. Thank you Jenny and the Homestar team!
I've been with Homestar for almost two years, now, and they've been very good in passing on any Reserve Bank increases.
The best thing I did mortgage-wise was to leave loans.com.au for Homestar, even though it cost more than $600 in fees to loans.com.au.
I have nothing but praise for Homestar, so far. Matt made the administrative process to switch fairly painless and I've had no problems so far using their online banking through my offset account.

We have been with Homestar since March 2020 and are very happy with our decision to refinance. Ash and Rick were very helpful and the process was relatively easy. The online banking is very basic but does the job and I look forward to the eventual release of the banking app for my phone.

Good rates and low fees - Justin Ho super helpful
I was with Big bank, over the years my rates turned out to be on higher side. Every couple of years i was manually calling them to get better rate( specially after every 2-3 rate cut where they dont pass on full to current customers). Last year I saw Homestar pass all 3 rate cut in full to their customer. So I decided to try Homestar.
Justin Ho from Homestar was super helpful from start of application till settlement and even after that. He was always reachable on mobile/sms/call/email and prompt in reply.
As per their website, there is a co...st for refinance but that gets covered over the time with their low-interest rates and no ongoing fees for offset account. Overall great savings. Online portal is very basic but let you do all normal banking like fund transfer, bpay etc. There is no mobile app. Pay ID is not supported but one can have a separate account with any of big bank for all fancy features and conveniences. I recommend some of my friends too and one of them completed refinance as well with Justin/Homestar.

We couldn't be happier, with all the COVID-19 constraints you went out of your way to call the JP and book our appointment for signing of documents. Still can’t believe that the settlement has happened within weeks and the delay was from our end for getting the documents signed. I would have no hesitation recommending Homestar to anyone looking for a home loan.
