Not as good as previous ctx ag bike
I have owned the XR 190 for 2 years now . The front suspension is shot . So hitting a pot hole or rock in the paddock nearly throws you off, the stand seams to high and the bike is always falling over on the slightest of hill. And the engine stalls easy as there isnt enough torque only when taking off in a higher gear . Told these bike are made in China , makes sense. I would rather ride my CTX 200 with a carby
Purchased for $4,800.00.
Not fit for purpose
At 3500ks it melted a piston. I was travelling from one town to another at 80ks when it must have overheated .Honda would not pay for repairs .said it was a farm bike and not meant for the road. It's sold as a road trail bike .very cheaply made ..no good. As dirt bike either ..don't buy one
Purchased in May 2018 for $4,500.00.
It's a short range commuter
It's a difficult bike to ride at slow speed especially in steep hill conditions no torque gravel roads doesn't have nice manners my road bike could match it open road 80klms feels the bike is being thrashed throttle to snappy would hate to chase cows in muddy conditions has a relaxed riding position like the carriers very good price so expectation should according
Purchased in August 2018 at Southside honda for $4,000.00.
Not fit for purpose
The bike itself in any form is not fit for the purpose it is proposed for according to the website. The engine is a road bike style engine with fuel injection (a screamer engine) with very little torque, it has a very touchy throttle down low (this is the biggest problem with the bike and Honda say it is fine but have they tested it under tough farming conditions?) which makes it near impossible to ride for rounding up livestock at low speed. The gearing is more suited to round the city type riding and when the going gets tough under tough farm...conditions it struggles, the gear ratios are not suitable for hilly type terrain of farm work without extensive modification. The bike from the swing arm back has a prehistoric look and feel about it, the rear brake is very poor in effect. I have been riding trail bikes for forty odd years and owned a great variety of them from fifty dollar old machines to this the second brand new bike I have ever owned. This Honda AG-XR 190 is the hardest bike I have ever ridden and the greatest disappointment I have had the pleasure of owning. Honda really need to think about this product sure yes it is able to be registered for road use and that is the only good thing about it.
Questions & Answers
I am also considering the Honda XR190l AG, however, David S reports:
"The engine is a road bike style engine with fuel injection (a screamer engine) with very little torque, it has a very touchy throttle down low (this is the biggest problem with the bike and Honda say it is fine but have they tested it under tough farming conditions?) which makes it near impossible to ride for rounding up livestock at low speed" He also states that the bike is near to useless i hilly country due to city biased gearing? .....
Has Honda addressed the above issues in the 2019 model or the 2020 release?
I look forward to your reply.
Not to my knowledge, they did not feel the motorcycle had any issue it was considered normal operation, depending on your application you may want to either ride the unit first or consider alternatives
Than you David for the quick reply. I'll take your wise advice.
I will now investigate more options.
Thank you again and I hope you can resolve your issues ind regards Barry M.
