Suction not great
After my Hoover core+ got downgraded to a shed vacuum due to it falling apart (no loss of suction) I decided it was time for a new one. My only option was to go another Hoover as my previous experiences are extremely positive. I purchased the Hoover Action with high expectations and it has been a disappointment. The handle and hose attachment are very flexible but I found the constant movement irritated my wrist and I was constantly untangling it. This vacuum has a lot less suction than my previous Hoover which I find frustrating, the power...
Read morehead works fine on carpet but it takes some going over on my tiles and floor boards. Upon investigating the Hoover Action is 500w less than my previous one and boy you notice! The one positive for this vacuum is that it is very lightweight and the powerhead is more slimline. I am currently deciding whether to return tomorrow and pay an extra $200 for the bigger wattage Hoover....Purchased in October 2019 at Godfreys Physical Stores for $370.00.
Difficult to empty dust container
No not so far. Powerhead does a fantastic job picking up dust and pet fur. Carpets look great
but is a bit cumbersome. I have one major gripe, emptying the dirt cylinder. As per another reviewer it took longer to empty than it took to vacuum. As the suction is so powerful the dirt and dust is really compacted. When opening container to empty into a bin it wont all just fall out and the design with attached lid is not user friendly the lid keeps catching the dirt. Had to poke, shake and prod for a very long time to empty the dirt. VERY messy.

it's pretty good
It's a good vacuum cleaner. It has a large head, so going under tv cabinets, low beds isn't possible. also only a 45 degree turning head so manuvering around chair legs is a mission. picks up most fur off the ground, filters need constant replacement to keep the suction s

Its OK
the canister is way too small - I live in a unit - and emptied it 5 times! the filter needed to be cleaned after one use. the hose kinks. the power head gets stuff wrapped around it - even a piece of paper curled around it.
the good things: its quiet.

Strong suction but a few issues...
Had to be talked into the power head as I've had issues in the past and was told that these wouldn't arise but they did. When you have hair like mine, akin to the wild Yeti of the Alps, it goes astray regularly. The power head likes to eat said long and curlies and then that can cause a blockage in the power head. It also does not like shag carpet.... now I am not talking 70's shag here but the more acceptable shag from today. I have to switch the head off to stop it getting caught in the rug. The suction is great though, and it does hard ...
Read morefloors and carpets with ease. My other concern is the need to clean the cylinder and filter every two rooms, or the full light comes on. This is freaking annoying. There has to be a better way around this. Apart from that, it performs well and so it should. It cost the equivalent of a weekend at a swank hotel.Magdy NAU

Wonderful product with extreme high power
I'm editing my review after 6 months of usage...
It cleans really well, the motorized head cleans properly when using it on the carpet. We have used ones before where carpet appeared clean, after using this one, it sucked huge amount of dust from the carpets where we were able to tell the difference from the dust bag. It's really amazing with 5 different vacuum power modes.
We don't have pets so we haven't tried it vacuuming pet hair.
Pros:
1- Affordable price. ($350-400)
2- Five different vacuuming power modes.
3- Can do really good job on floors and normal carpets.

Great Hoover BUT .......
We were impressed with the demo for this Hoover and bought it there and then, had it a couple of months now and though it does a great job the drum is a massive pain to use if it can get caught any where it will it tips way too easily and chips the walls whenever it hits them, basically because of that we wouldn't buy another hoover with a drum an upright is a far better option and way less hassle.
Worst Handling Vac Ever !!!
Performance of cleaning / suction power is good.
Worst manoeuvrability EVER.
This Vac gets stuck on it own cord, wont go over cord.wheels too small, falls on its side at the slightest change in direction (away from straight line).
Given this company has been around for such a long time.... This is a disaster in "handling / ease of use"
Most frustrating Vac ever..

Suction OK but maintenance cumbersome
The action (rotating brush) floor head of this vacuum cleaner works really nice, but this cycle vacuum has a major problem with its filters. Even after a single vacuum run the filters are clogged and need thorough cleaning; if you don't you loose a lot of suction force. So it works but having to clean top filter every single time is a major hassle and a design flaw in my opinion - never had such an issue with a Dyson cyclone vacuum.

Godfrey G.Hoover
Hi Kerrin.
The suction strength needed will be different for all flooring types.
There is a guide on the machine showing curtains, upholstery, rugs, carpet and hard floors, the images will light up as the dial is rotated.
