I should have read reviews before buying this expensive rubbish
Performed well when new but performance dropped off pretty quickly. Withing a few months could not use high power setting it died instantly now low power setting only runs for a few minutes. Never another Hoover and never entering Godfrey shops again. We were talked out of other units and brands buy a super smooth sales guy clearly with a vested interested in selling these rubbish units! Surely Godreys and Hoover you must know that word of mouth will kill you or save you. Well guess what? You are dead to me, my family and friends.

This product should never passed Hoover's quality control
Vacuum used mostly on floor boards and occasional rug.
It was purchased in 2018 and performed well for first 8 months. It has always required a lot of cleaning, but I stupidly thought it was because it was picking up so much dirt - wrong.
It progressively started lasting shorter and shorter before cutting out. After about a year we couldn't use the high power setting any more as it would just cut out. That was manageable as we were only using on floor boards and Low power mode was adequate. A few months later though it started cutting out more ...

Everything all wrong. The original head was completely faulty and poorly designed and badly clogged after each use. I spent every Sunday trying to clean it. Literally hours just getting through the blocked neck with a home fashioned device to poke down. Dust everywhere. Total disaster. Eventually I called Godfreys to discuss it and they told me there was a replacement head being put on the vacuum. I asked why nobody had contacted me to offer the repair - no answer. I got a new head on it. Internally there was a new corrugated pipe which split q...uite soon after. I couldn’t see the split which caused everything I vacuumed up to not go up the vacuum any more. When vacuum turned off all of it would spill on the floor from the head. I thought it was just me again, that my dust was too big. Always made sure I picked up anything visible assuming it was blocking. Eventually I discovered the split which meant NO suction anymore and called godfreys about it and I was told it was out of warranty that I have to pay for all this mess myself. No worries because the vacuum battery only lasts for about 30 seconds and cuts out every five seconds and then dies anyway so it won’t be fixed! I was happy for the first use and it was downhill fast from there. Hoover should do a product recall on this item or offer a refund to everybody who bought it. Absolutely awful from the get go.

I loved this vacuum now I hate it
After about 8 months of using this brand new $599 vacuum in a 2br unit with floorboards, carpeted bedrooms the battery needed replacing. Every time I tried to use on highspeed mode for use on carpets and just turns itself off. This was done under warranty by Godfreys, so no problem there.
Recently the vacuum is doing EXACTLY the same thing. Its Ok on low speed and just turns off on high speed. Whilst this is fine on floorboards it not powerful enough on carpets and quite frankly I paid a lot of money for his vacuum to work on all surfaces. I'm going to head to my local Godfreys tomorrow so it'll be interesting to see what they say as I'm not prepared to pay for a new battery every 8 months. Really really disappointed with this purchase.

Our Air Stick Pro was purchased in Early 2017 from Godfreys for $599. We moved into our retirement village April 2017. We bought it for the ease in using. We have tiles and carpet. In 6 months the battery had to be replaced under warranty. 6 more months it kept stopping. We were shown how to clean properly and to only use on low speed. Just over 2 years we were having problems again. Back for service $150 later told a battery had been replaced. Still having problems, back to the store only to find battery had never been changed. Great Godfreys...salesman, apologised profusely, replaced battery and checked machine. Home now after 7 weeks without a vacuum. And can still only use it on low for the battery to last our whole villa. We agree with all the complaints, we expected better results. The battery should last longer. Hoover should back their product and support the buyers. We cannot afford $ 190 to buy a new battery every 6 months It would be nice if Hoover gave a reply here Heather Lovett Davistown NSW Australia

terrible waste of money unless u want a vacumm that lasts 4mins
very disappointed was told by godfreys this was a top of the vacumm after 1 year the vacumm only lasts on low for 4 mins
I could buy a new battery for $95 but i feel with every ones reviews id just be throwing away more money
We have tiles and carpet , buy i only used this vacumm on tiles for a quick vacumm for crumbs etc after meal times ! Luckily i have a bigger vacumm that i use for the whole house! I certainly will never buy a hoover again

Not worth the money
Within a few months the battery stopped working on high and would only last 10 minutes on low. Had it serviced under warranty only to have it happen again. No longer in warranty but I was told it is a common problem and to purchase a new battery. If it is a common problem it should be fixed. I only use it as an in between for a big vacuum. It cannot be used on carpet either as it clogs up and you need to dislodge all the carpet fibre. Not worth the price.

Garbage. Clogs constantly. Barely lasts 20 minutes. Terrible to empty.
Cleans OK but from new the battery barely lasts long enough to do much more than a room and takes hours to recharge. I see Hoover replies that it's not a replacement for a normal vac but it's not exactly cheap and nowhere does the packaging nor their agent Godfreys state otherwise. Disgraceful conduct by both parties and my last purchase involving either.

Absolute waste of money
The man at godfreys sold me this vacuum cleaner using bicarbonate or baking powder. A fine dust I would say. Now they won’t repair my air stick pro because they tell me I’ve used it on fine dust.
The battery’s are only covered for a year in its warranty, however after reading reviews the battery seems to be the issue, and rarely lasting beyond a year. The customer service people said I needed to factor in environmental and useage. Well my vacuum lives in my lounge and I use it on tiles and wool carpet.
I would STRONGLY advise not to buy this vacuum. After paying in excess of $500 for it, do I think it’s fair it’s only expected to last a year? No I don’t.

Not good, but not that bad.
My Air Stick is 2 years old. I found the same problems others did, but with a bit of IQ you can live with it. Cleaning it out can be done quickly with a flexible stick. The roller gets hair and threads rolled around it, but it comes out easily, with only one latch. Then use scissors to cut the hair etc off...takes 5 minutes. The battery died after 2 years, but this might happen on other vacs too. Dust container is too small, but it's small on most of these types of vacs. The design is not as good as it could be, but it's only hopeless to peopl...e who can't work out some simple maintenance. When it's properly maintained it works very well. Overall, considering its design and battery problems, it's too expensive, but if you already have one, put some effort in to learning how to maintain it.

Worked great for a year, then battery went and was replaced under warranty.
Now the battery has gone again not even a year later, the hose on the power head had spilt so I got that replaced, even their floor model had a spilt in it when I showed him what I was talking about.
I replaced the brush as it works on high for 2 mins then the brush won't spin, this was happening before I replaced the brush.
What in the hell is wrong with the vacuum now?
Ended up buying a new Samsung stick vacuum, but hoping to fix the Hoover so it can be stored and used in my son's room, so my son leaves my new vacuum alone.

A complete waste of money
The feed tube regularly gets blocked with carpet fluff and is very difficult to unblock. In the last few months it has taken to cutting out within a few seconds of being switched on.

Thought I was buying a good Product
I too have had problems with battery life with my Hoover Air Stick Pro. I deliberately purchased what I thought was a reliable product but have been disappointed. The Battery started to fail after only 12mths and I have put up with it until now - just cost me a further $145 for a new battery. My Car Battery lasts longer then that!!! I was in the market for a new vacuum after having an old Dyson for many years. I was convinced by a Salesperson at Godfrey’s that their product was superior and that Dyson was now a very poor product. I needed a versatile product for hard and carpeted flooring and wanted no cords. I spent $599 thinking it was a great investment and would serve my purposes and provide years of working ability. How wrong I was. I spent more time cleaning it out, it continually blocked up, battery never stayed charged long enough and would cut out after a few sec...onds. I have a box of accessories I never used and threw the heap of rubbish to the tip exactly where it belonged in the first place. I will NEVER set foot into another Godfrey’s store or ever ever buy another Hoover. Dyson all the way for the future of cleaning and versatility. If your thinking of parting with your hard earned money on an inferior product, please don’t waste your time and energy.

Worst appliance I have ever bought
Bought this stickvac from Godfreys in May 2018 for $499. Very unsatisfactory except for the hand held facility which is satisfactory. I have carpet and hard floors. Small house but battery never lasts long enough to complete job. Usually just pushes dirt away on hard floors. Has to be pulled apart (no easy task) after every use. Gone back to soft broom on hard floors, much less trouble. Had it back to Godfreys and they replaced agitator and handle while still under warranty. Worst investment in household appliance I've ever made and I wouldn't give or sell it to anyone. Basically I've paid $499 for a hand held vac with unsatisfactory battery life.

Battery life not good
Vac was purchased about 21/2yrs ago..last yr took back for service as battery charge did not last long like our previous vacuums..we actually were going to buy a dyson but were talked into the pro..which i am happy with the job it does on my Carpet and timber floors..but as pensioners and paying such a high price i regret this now as when i went to godfreys again yesterday the salesman said " like everything in life they run out"..now i have to pay $100 for new battery..is this going to happen every 18mths or so..im disappointed with battery lifespan as i love the actual vacuum

Poor on battery durability, average on cleaning, virtually useless after 2/3 years
I reviewed this two years ago when I originally bought it. At that time it worked great and was good for what I wanted, which was just a quick light vacuum to clean a 2-bed apartment with mostly hard flooring and some areas of carpeting. After only 2 years, it began suffering the battery problems others complain of until eventually it couldn't be used on high power as it would cut out after a few seconds - it could still be used on low power but didn't pick up so well. When I tried to publish this review, I was asked if I wanted to try to re...solve the problem direct withHoover, and I accepted that. So what follows is an update from then. Update: Godfreys did a free service under the warranty which had actually run out about 3 or 4 days previously. The upshot was that it needed a replacement battery. However, on taking it back home, I found that the new battery wasn't charging, so I took it back to Godfreys and had it serviced again. I have waited 4 months since then before updating this review, and the stick is still working ok, so I hope it is longer than 2 years before the battery gives up again. I think for the price of this stick, both performance battery durability could be better, but if only using it for very light use then it's probably fine. The cleaning process is fiddly and has to be done at least once a week, but I can live with that. I will replace it as soon as I can with a G-Tech Air Ram Pro, which is what I originally wanted and would have bought if it had been available in Australia, so I will have to import one, but I wish I had read the reviews before buying this stick. Update: six months after the review above, this air stick has developed a whining noise, the brush doesn’t rotate properly when switched on, and it picks up very little now. I clean it out thoroughly once a week, so that’s not the problem. I’m done with this one now, it’s going to the tip and I’m placing an order for an Air Ram.

Easy to move. Great suction.
This product is light weight, easy to move and sucks up my phone cord if I accidentally run over it. I’ve had it for 2 years now. I absolutely love it. It’s easy to clean.
The only negative is the battery life isn’t overly long but I wouldn’t expect it to be with the strong suction it has.
If I am quick I can do my entire 3 bedroom house with it.

Disappointed in battery life.
Starts out great but is difficult to keep clean and now has a flat battery. Bought in Nov 18 & for $550 I expected a longer battery life and I'm disappointed.

Great at 1st but disappointed
I was so excited when I got this vac about two years ago and was telling everyone how awesome and handy it was. We have both carpets and hard floors and while it does a great job with picking up stuff it’s forever getting blocked. It’s so hard to keep clean and the battery time never lasted quite long enough to do the rooms I needed. However it’s been a lifesaver with small children to be able to quickly clean without needing to pull out a corded vac.
My mums one had to have the battery replaced not long after having it and now both of ours a...re no longer holding charge. However I’m not sure of the battery life- they are 2 years old. If it wasn’t for the fact it gets blocked all the time I would have recommend it to everyone. Ive heard fantastic things about the Dyson even though the godfreys sales staff told us the Hoover was sooo much better than the Dyson I’m left feeling like I was scammed. My next stick vac I’m thinking of trying Dyson unless Godfrey staff look after me by replacing my Hoover parts.

How do you change battery on the airstick pro 5223
The batter for the Air Stick Pro 5223 can be accessed via the cover on the back of the handvac.
This is shown on page 7 of the user manual.

Hi, I love my Air Stuck Pro but at the moment it loses suction after about 1-2 minutes. I have to turn it off and back on, sometimes the suction stops after a few seconds to a couple of minutes. I recently got a new battery. I've cleaned and checked everything but no luck.
Hopefully you can give me some advice.
We are sorry to hear of the of the issues you are experiencing with your machine.
Has he filter recently been replaced? It is recommended to replace the filter every 6-9 months.
There may also be an issue with the PCB, to check this the machine will need to be taken into your nearest Godfreys store and booked in for inspection.
