If only the product was as good as their customer service and marketing
I have 5 hose reels, and of course each one has a trigger hose fitting plus a long reach fitting. we have had these for about 3 years.
At this point every connection is leaking - even though I have replaced the O Rings. Additionally 4 out of the five triggers leak like a sieve where the trigger plunger connects into the fitting. I have rung them and they have shipped out replacement parts and they are very helpful thats for sure. But if the product isn't as good as they say, ultimately excellent customer service doesn't help.
We are in the pro...
An ok product, nothing more
Hoselink has a clever connector, but their products make the hose heavy and impractical. Also, the connectors leak over time, so having to refit (using hot water to soften, etc,) is annoying. We have gone back to using standard click connectors; cheaper, lighter, and less $$$ has to be spent on additional connectors for sprinklers and such.
Please make all parts of this product as spare parts. Please make these parts in Australia. We are now trying to buy ONLY Australian MADE products. We are happy to pay More. Thank You, Stuart I only just recommend your product!
Reels are great but the fittings are rubbish
I have 3 hoselink reels and a decent collection of fittings purchased over several years. The hoses, reels, and multifunction sprayers are great but the fittings leave a lot to be desired.
Every single fitting I have leaks and a couple have gone very brittle in the sun and have bits breaking off them, which is a shame because it would be expected hoses and fittings are exposed to the sun.
I have changed o rings which I found to be a short-term fix and they soon start leaking again.
Having said that, I have contacted the customer service tea...m in the past and found them willing to help and send replacement parts but calling them should not be necessary to get the system working as it should. As it stands today I have leaking fittings everywhere I look, which is very annoying.
Difficult on-line ordering process and poor phone service
Firstly, I have no problems with the products, but stupidly I tried to pay using a direct bank transfer rather than other methods. This resulted in some very confusing messages including one asking me to email my order number to you after I paid. 5 days later still no despatch email so tried to phone but was told to call back later. Did that only to wait over 8 minutes to be put through. Order apparently was despatched but I was not advised until I rang.
Product great but spare part delivery shocking price
We have 2 hoselink reels that are fantastic. Have no issues with them. They do a great job. They came with 4 large O rings that I guess I might need one day.
However to replace the O ring in the hose spray gun I have to pay $6.95 delivery for a $4.50 O ring, must be crazy? Disappointed I can't just go to the hardware for such a simple item .
I thank hose link for the reply to my objection to the hire delivery charge. However, I did pay delivery. I just think they could have been placed it in an envelope for normal postage. However, 1 spare...
Very good when it works
I purchased my 1st Hoselink reel about 6 years ago and thought it was excellent. The spray nozzle was good quality (minimal dripping) and the rewind mechanism was really good. After about 3 years I bought two more. I have generally been happy with them but now find that 2 of them need to be replaced. The oldest one won't completely rewind - leaves about 2 metres of hose - and one of the newer ones won't rewind at all. I'm not sure what longevity is realistic with these products. 6 years is probably pretty good for the oldest one, but I am disappointed to be replacing the other that is 3 years old.
Sprinkler connection point is incompatible with all other readily available brands of hose fittings.
I bought 3 of the 9 function sprinkler and was very happy with the quality of the product BUT it is not compatible with any of my wide variety of hose connectors. As I need and want to use my other existing fittings on my hoses as well as their sprinkler, I will need to find some sort of attachment to allow me to use it. Not at all happy about that.
Hose became sticky with time
After a while my hose which was yellow faded a lot and the surface of the hose is sticky and become very grubby with dirt and grass sticking to it.
Flow controller Issue
Awesome little device to have. Saves having to keep walking back to the tap to adjust or stop the water flow. The one issue I have with these fittings, and I'm sure I am not alone here, is that the plastic control handles on 2 of these fittings have not lasted long and snapped off. A more durable control handle instead of the flimsy thing that is there now would be very much appreciated.
For the most part happy.
I purchased a 2256 Ned Kelly Starter kit Nov 2015 and as per the title i am mostly happy. I have once had to purchase a sprayer repair kit to resolve it leaking after o ring failure on the shaft and yes i serviced it every 6 months with rubber seal friendly lube. You accept a bit of PIA misfortune when the going is for the most part mainly fine.
The reason i rate it as only ok is since the commencement of this lawn care season ie Spring 2018 i have noticed a deterioration/fading/whitening and what would appear to be UV damage to my connectors ...and in addition also the rubber grip at the head of the sprayer that you grab with your fingers to adjust the spray pattern has also deteriorated to the point where it almost always just falls off the head of the sprayer onto the ground and i need to constantly check it hasn't fallen off when in use. I have resorted in the last couple of months to wrapping some rag around the connectors at the sprayer end and sprayer itself when not in use to protect them both from further UV / sun damage which under normal circumstances would be about 4 hrs exposure to the sun a day. In summary yes i have NOT had to deal with bursting hoses which is a Hoselink claim to fame and well done to them for this. There is no denying however i am disappointed that some of my Hoselink products don't seem to be holding up to the weather all that well in particular IMO there ability to hold up to UV for a premium priced and marketed garden brand. I would not have expected to deal with these issues for at least the best part of 5 yrs of service given this brand is priced and pitched at the pointy end for quality.
Too bulky for modern homes
Our son gave us the hose link set for Christmas. Unfortunately we live in a modern home on a small 700m block. The hose link fixture is just too big and bulky to fit anywhere on the house close to a tap. Still sitting in its box in the garden shed, will probably have to advertise it on gumtree.
Just reading some of the reviews on leakage problems, unfortunately the product only works well with standard size hoses. If you have an anti kink hose with a thicker wall, the hose link product doesn’t work.
I spoke to hoselink several times and they couldn’t help. I was able to fix the problem with a simple retrofit, so if anyone has any similar issues, there is a solution.
O rings drop out and vanish
I got a new and expensive hoselink 30 meter with all the gadgets
We have had tradesman over and they use and unplug the hose - every time we lose the o rings they just sprung out and we can never find them again
I see they come in packs of 3 for only $2 but then I have to pay $7 to have them sent as in Melbourne -$7 postage seems high for something that fits into a normal envelope and I only need them because they always fly out I need at least two packs
Good hose - But
I recently received my hoselink hi-flow retractable hose reel, which has a 14mm inner diameter, great!
Well, not as great as one might think.
The fittings, on the ends have a 10mm opening at each end, to feed and discharge a 14mm hose.
A bit like trying to empty a bucket by sucking on a straw.
Don't get me wrong, it is ok, pressure wise but could be much better, if some, let's be generous and call him a "hydraulics engineer", had designed the fittings with the same inner diameter as the hose, it would pretty great and maybe even expected?
Questions & Answers
Do you need to take it inside in the winter?
Thank you for your question here. If the temperatures where you live get to below freezing level (0 degrees) we recommend bring in any of the accessories you have. Leaving them out with water inside may cause the water to freeze and potentially damage them. If it does not get to freezing or below freezing temperatures this is not nesscarry.
