ZERO STAR
Absolute rip off. Hidden charges!!! I transferred €100 from my Citibank account to HSBS Global everyday account and they charged me €7. Glad I found out before going overseas. Be prepared to be ripped off massively.

Cancelled card when taking cash out overseas
Got this card to get cash out while in the UK for a year before starting job. They put a temporary hold on the card after using it to get cash out a few times. They can't remove temporary hold and have to send a new card in 10-14 days. Failed to inform me of the temporary hold until doesn't work at ATM. How about a phone call to question the transactions as I updated my contact details with you. In other news, app is terrible, worst I have ever used, they take an extra % when U transfer to one of the everyday global currencies in your account and then take out from there so not really worth it unless u thing currency values will be up and down

Sign-up Procedure Obtrusive & Painful
Applying for a HSBC Everyday Global card is akin to jumping through as many hoops as you would go through to get a home loan. They asked me my place of employment, how long I live at previous addresses, to have a document signed and witnessed by a power of attorney etc etc etc. I put this one in the too hard basket, I will be happy to pay the small % other cards charge me for the ease of signing up for the service.
This is the worst product I have ever used
I wish I could rate less than 1 star. I have GBP loaded in the account which doesn’t let you withdraw when your are in the UK. When you try to call customer service they are very unhelpful and can not resolve.

Visa debit card doesn’t work
Got this debit card in Australia to use overseas. Now over seas and discover the card is apparently faulty. I’m now stranded in Bahrain and unable to get cash using the card. Will be cancelling Hsbc account as soon as i return to Australia. Do not open one of these accounts.
HSBC international debit card doesn't work
I got this card here in Canada so that my daughter could use it while living in Australia - pay rent, withdraw cash, make purchases. Now that she's attempted to use it in Sydney, it's been declined in every store she's been to. The HSBC help line tells me that as it's an international card, the Australian retailers' machines probably can't read the card!! I am having a real problem understanding why I'm hearing this now. I was explicitly told she could use it anywhere in Australia despite having acquired it here in Canada. It would have been just as easy to stick with a Canadian bank debit card for her.
Beware of exchange rates
Opening the account 12 months ago was a bit of challenge, but after three weeks it was approved and I received my card. It is brilliant for transactions in one of the currencies held in the account. For other currencies it was originally very good with the exchange rate being consistently exactly as provided on the Visa website. For the last 2 months, however, the exchange rate used has consistently been less favourable that the VIsa rate which the PDS says is to be used. It seems that the bank is now taking a margin of around 1.4% on foreign transactions in currencies not held in the account. This is very sneaky, not to mention dishonest.

HSBC Global Account blocked many times
I went to USA, Canada and Mexico on April 2019.
I opened HSBC Every Global account and a week prior I advised them that I will go to USA, Canada and Mexico.
The first day we arrived in New York we used it for buying train tickets. On the second transaction the card can not be used, so we had to pay cash. Arrived at the hotel we called HSBC customer service using Skype and ask what's happening. Actually, they blocked the card even though we have advised them that we will go to USA.
Long short story, during a month of our traveling HSBC blocked ...
Dear God just kill me now
My experience with HSBC has been terrible from start to finish. Even the process of getting access to online banking has been more painful than giving birth, which i have done twice. The level of security checks and activation codes required feels like it is an attempt to dissuade you from using their service, the Customer service is full of waiting, even to register an activation code to actually be able to log in to an online banking account required me waiting on hold for five minutes. The process of getting a loan took no less than 2 months! Its disgusting. I really was so close to pulling the pin so many times and they are only too happy to cancel your application which really cements my belief that they do not actually want customers.

Terrible customer service and not helpful
The Hsbc and the woman behind the counter are giving two different policies. Two many paperwork’s required to open a bank. This is 21st century!!!! Basically just happy for me to walk out the door without helping out or offering suggestions. Provided passport and utility bill as per what they required online. Went to branch in Southport being told its not enough.

A THIRD World Local Bank
2019 already and these guys still having their mindsets back to 80s.
With almost everything can be done online these days for almost all banks.
And this, the "Third World Local Bank" still requires you to complete a hard copy FORM and then either send or fax it back to them for a simple Daily Withdrawal Limit increase from AUD $1000 to AUD $2000.
It's such a disgrace.

Awful Customer Service - Dont Trust the Card will work
I had two of these accounts with HSBC and the service was awful. I lost my PIN and it took 4 days for them to issue a new one as apparently that is how their systems work. Overall, pathetic customer service. Stick Clear!

Poor customer service, system errors, lower exchange rate
Opened this account for a trip to Canada and USA because it promised no foreign exchange fees. Loaded it with AUD and used it for ATM withdrawals and purchases on the Visa Debit card, that were then converted to AUD. All Visa purchases were treated by HSBC as ATM withdrawals (and not Visa purchases) at an exchange rate set by HSBC which was several percent lower than the Visa and Amex credit card exchange rates for the day. I made several Amex transactions so I could compare and there was almost no benefit to the HSBC card even with the Amex 3%...
Read more foreign currency charge, due to Amex having a better exchange rate. On returning home I found I had been overcharged by hundreds of dollars with seven transactions in error, which all appeared to be due to HSBC system errors. Four were duplicated transactions, another was a cancelled transaction for $0.15 Canadian that was converted to $52.02 Australian, and two others converted from CAD to AUD at the ridiculously low exchange rate of 0.71 cents instead of 0.96 CAD per AUD. Lodged a dispute with HSBC and received no response. Followed up after eight weeks in writing, no response. After 11 weeks lodged a complaint with the Australian Governments Financial Ombudsman Service and got a credit from HSBC two weeks later. No apology for the lack of response or explanation. I closed this account immediately I got my refund. HSBC banks in each country are different and HSBC Australia refused to provide any pre-trip advice as to whether HSBC Canada or HSBC USA would levy fees for using their ATMS for withdrawals. They refused to find out and told me to contact those banks myself. I tried multiple HSBC ATMs in New York over the weekend I was there but I couldn’t use any of them as they were all inside banks and none were accessible outside bank hours, so I don't know if they charge an ATM fee or not. Most other ATMS I found were accessible after hours, so I had to use one of these and pay the fee. I would give this product zero stars if I could.- 2 reviews

Card blocked midway through holiday
Used this Everyday Global Card in America for 7 weeks. Halfway through the holiday purchases at restaurants and hotel accomodation weren't working on the card. Went 3 days later to an ATM when we ran out of money thinking it might of been the shops, but turns out I couldn't get any money out. HSBC in America won't help you, and our American mobile plan wouldn't allow us to call Australia. Family in Australia had to contact HSBC and ask them to contact us. Our card was blocked due to an $84 accomodation stay. The whole purpose of getting t...
Read morehe card is to pay for things on holiday. We went for 4 days without being able to use our card and one day without being able to get food or accomodation. I asked HSBC why block my card for an accomodation payment, when I spent $10,000 prior to that on meals, accomodation, multiple shopping sprees, fuel around 7 states and tours. I was told that the system only hi-lighted the one accomodation stay. I will never use HSBC again. Toured the world a few times with Travelex and never had a card been stopped once. For anything.Questions & Answers
When will HSBC credit my account with $100 bonus payment ( Everyday Global account) if I have made $2000 deposits for 3 consecutive months? Will the credit appear in the 4th month or after 6 months ?
