Comfortable and Beautiful Way to Carry Your Baby

published

I bought an original Hug a Bub in 2014 for my firstborn son.
As he was very small at birth the Hug a Bub was perfect.
It is great for those that have a bad back like I do and also a really beautiful way to carry your child close to you.
My son loved being carried in it and would sleep the whole time he was in it

brilliant for the first few months

Extremely comfortable and easy to use once you get the hang of it. Very supportive, I had bad lower back pain and using the hug a bub really helped. Downsides are that it's quite hot in summer, you can only really use it till bub is about 8kg and it's a pain when it gets vomited on because it takes a while to dry after you wash it

Very handy in the early days

Used this every day for the first 6 months. Bub was safe and secure but with me at all times and I could have both my hands free! Especially good when you have older children wanting your attention at the same time as bub. Super easy to use too! Highly recommend

Loved it

I bought the Hug-a-Bub for my third baby as I didn't like the baby carriers Id used for my first two. I found the straps fiddled to adjust and they always gave me a sore back. The Hug-a-Bub was a revelation. It was so comfortable, gave me no back pain and I always felt my baby was secure. I used it every day when collecting my eldest from school and I could hold hands with the older two while my baby was in the sling. I took it on our overseas holiday and used it on the plane when my baby was unsettled and wouldn't sleep in the bassinet provided. I used it everywhere sightseeing. My only regret was when she got too big and I had to stop using it, and that I didn't buy a Hug-a-Bub for my first baby, I loved it so much.

Love this product and so did my son

This baby carrier is the only one my fussy boy liked to be carried in until 18 months when he was simply just to heavy. It was fantastic I can't carry him for long periods due to back and hip problems it just distributes his weight evenly and it is comfortable for us both

Baby loves it!

published

I got the hug-a-Bub when my baby was around 6 weeks old. It was the best baby item I purchased. My baby always wanted to sleep in my arms and would wake when put down, which meant a lot of my day was spent on the couch. It also took a while to soothe him to sleep, by rocking and breastfeeding. The first time I popped on the carrier he fell asleep easily within a couple of minutes and I had my hands free to get things done! He also slept for longer stretches in the carrier. I used it until he was about 7 months old and then I bought another carrier which I could clip on and off more quickly. Cant wait to use the hug-a-bub again if we have another baby! :)

Was great but...

The wrap worked well but was hard to tighten at the top once baby was in. My friend lent me a different type of hug a bub which had strings to tighten which worked much better. I felt my baby was much more secure. Ended up buying a more structured carrier.

Hi Sally, we have Certified Babywearing Instructors on staff, and they can offer tips and tricks for tightening the carrier once baby is in. If your baby is still young enough to use your Hug-a-Bub, we'd welcome your call on 1800 757 777!

Lifesaver!

published

We used the hugabub for our second baby who had reflux. The wrap was simple to use and kept bub securely next to me, and upright, which was the only thing that would settle her reflux.
The hugabub is the only way I could prepare meals, a definite lifesaver for us!
We are now using it for our 5 week old.

Toddler wrangling with a newborn life saver. Great for hands free baby holding when you have one even better for toddler wrangling when you have a second - could not live with out it! Buy far the best item I've bought for a newborn. Also great for breast feeding on the go!

Good

Enjoyed using it, but found other models easier to put in when I was alone with Bub. I found this one quite convoluted and hard to use, so didn't end up using it much. Loved the colours and how comfy it was, but it took too long to put on when Bub was crying and I was home alone.

Could not have lived without this. Definite life saver

published

I'm a cold frog, but my LO is a hot body. I don't have any issues with being too hot. I loved this carrier, i balked at the price, but let me tell you mummies or future mummies out there, this is a lifesaver. I was able to get washing done, dishes done, shopping done because of this sling. Bub was a reflux baby so this sling was so helpful. Head remains steady in this sling. Not like some other brands other choose to use, and you often see them using one of their hands to cradle baby's head. Don't they realise there is a better option for hands free. It does take a bit of getting used to tying the fabric, but it also comes with a DVD. I am keeping mine to hand on to any future grand children I may get, it's that good.

Thankyou for your review. There are ways of wearing the Hugabub in summer to allow for more airflow. Gathering up the straps, pulling down the logo panel etc. As long as the carrier is worn tight it will still be comfortable for both wearer and baby.

One of the best baby purchases I've made!

published

The Hug-a-bub is very comfortable. Not just for the baby - he falls asleep easily when wrapped in the Hug-a-Bub - but for me as well. I've tried the Baby Bjorn Original carrier and it hurts my shoulders after a while, whereas I can carry my baby in the Hug-a-bub for several hours and not feel at all sore. I love that I'm able to shield baby from the sun and keep his head secure. The pocket also comes in handy when packing the Hug-a-bub for travel. It takes a few tries to get the hang of wearing it, but the DVD is a definite help with that!
Comfort!

Nice idea but difficult to put on

published

I love the idea of the wrap and baby being snug in my chest, it seems comfortable for the carrier and bub. However, i feel that i need a university degree to know how to put it on! i find that there is too much excessive fabric, probably due to bub and i being small and i can't seem to wrap my baby snug enough.
i cannot imagine how i can easily put it on and off when i go out and about or have to do it quickly.
one piece of fabric that wrap around with no attachment
Difficult to put on

Too hot to wear in Summer

published

I live in QLD and purchased the hugabub because of the great reviews. I have only used it a couple of times and personally found the wrap too hot for our weather. I am disappointed as it is very comfortable to wear. I would not recommend using the hugabub if you live in a hot climate area.

Hi Amy. There are summer wearing adjustments that allow for more airflow, less layering and less body coverage. Please feel free to call head office for product support.

Is it worth me getting a hug bub even thou my baby is now 8kg? I previously had a carrier but it was soo uncomfortable, has anyone used the hug a bub with a bigger baby

It's really hard to say. I've got a big baby, and still use it every now and then. My guy weighs about 11.5kg now. I can't exactly remember but he was probably 6-8kg when I bought it. You could always Google or eBay a Moby Wrap and find a cheap one to see if you like it. I didn't realize a Moby Wrap is the same as (and a more generic name of) a hug a bub. And, as good as the hug a bub is, I would have tried to find something cheaper before committing had I known what they were called :).

Hi Julie, I'd get a woven. I had a hug-a-bub and was amazed at the difference in support. Hug-a-bubs and Mobys are invaluable for small ones, but as they get heavier, more support is warranted. Wovens can get expensive. I recommend starting out by going to a local baby-wearing group. They normally have libraries and you can try varying carriers there. Otherwise, there is the "BWBSS Aussie Babywearing Support" and the ladies in that group can help you out.
