Well I was recommended this mower, as the property we have has a slope and this mower is one of only a few on the market that has a locking diff, so after driving it around to get used to it for less than 20min, I put the park brake on jump off to attend to something when, the mower backfires and stalls, so jump back on to start it, no go, wait 1/2 hour thinking it maybe flooded, it still will not start, I read the manual and it's telling me the battery is flat from what the lights are showing, so I charge the battery for 3 hours jump back on i...t starts, only this time when I engage the blades it's making an all mighty squealing noise, we had a mulching kit put on, have to say from what I've seen from the neighbour's mower ours doesn't really cut the mustard, tried to call the dealer but they are closed until Monday, the clock is now show .5 of an hour. I will be asking for my money back or change over to another brand of unit. Wish me luck.

$3999 for a mower bought 4 months ago that doesn't start
I purchased a Husqvarna TS 242 in October 2015. I had visited their Husqvarna dealership several days before and spoken to the Sales Manager who told me the cheaper model was using pressed steel rather than cast so spending more and getting the TS 242 was a better option.
On receiving the mower I had difficulties starting and phoned but they could not think of any reasons for difficulties. Around two weeks later the accelerator cable disconnected and would only run at full revs. As it was close to the first service I was told it was OK to ...
I have owned this mower for 2 months now and i think it is the best mower i have owned, i had a John deere L100 before i purchased this machine and i spent most of it's time in the dealership. the Husqy gives a very good ride and great steering, i have not had a single problem. Thanks Husqvarna
New TS242 no good!
Seems to be a common problem with this batch of mowers. Similar experience; less than three hours easy mowing and some belt squeal [common, I am told ] then there was a metallic rumble so shut down and called dealer to take the thing away [two weeks gone now].
Told yesterday we are amongst a number waiting for a new mandrel [or spindle] as the deck belt is set too tight from the factory. I understand there is now a bulletin telling dealers to reset belt tension at pre delivery.
Not happy as I need to keep on top of the lawns with the fire sea...
Crap so far
So Husqvarna have just released new model mowers in Australia. And One of the big reasons I bought this mower is because it's got a five year warranty. If things keep going the way they are my mower will spend a lot of those five years at the dealer.
I drove the mower off the trailer once I got it home and turned it off to fill with fuel. After filling it with fuel it wouldn't restart. Spoke to the dealer and he said it's probably flooded. He said let it sit for 20 minutes and then try again. I let it sit for 20 minutes. Wouldn't start. Let it...
Questions & Answers
I am looking at a Husqvarna YTH2648 TDF 2010 model, would appreciate comments.
My 242 hit a small root and caused the blade to split the stone guard. The mowing mechanism now makes a dreadful noise when engaged. Can the the guard be welded apor will it have to be replaced? If so, approximately how much would this cost?
Are the 242 and 342 ts now of a better quality now and are the spindles protected with a shearing devise in case of hitting an obstacle.? When a starting switch is accidentilly left on does the hour meter continues to count or does the meter only count when the engine is running? Which is important!
Looking forward to your reply WVB
