Beautiful looks to dress up an unsafe and poor quality product
We purchased this oven from Appliances Online in Jan 2018 during a sale and stored it securely in its shipping packaging on a pallet until we were ready to do our kitchen renovation in Aug 2019. On Christmas Day 2020 it started emitting a burning electrical smell and tripped the safety switch on its isolated circuit. On inspection, we found burnt and melted electrical connections and wiring that potentially could have started a fire. We contacted Ilve who told us that as the product was no longer under warranty (even though we had only operated...Read more
it for 16 months) and have refused to repair it even though it is unsafe and we're entitled to repair under Australian Consumer Law statutory warranty protections. Stay away from Ilve, choose a more reliable and safer brand. Their 'Unparalleled Quality' claims are just marketing fluff and we're left without a functioning oven.Purchased in January 2018 at Appliances Online for A$3,249.00.

Ok, I’ve contacted the installer twice who denies that this is the case.
This is the response from the electrician: llve should know that the link comes connected , we do not connect the links.
Only terminate the cables to allocated terminals .

Don't Waste Your Money
Don't believe the "cool touch" the knobs get very hot to the touch as does the front of the door despite having a technician come and look at the over. After entering mediation on this review, I was told that because of the way it cools this is how it works and that Ilve ovens are better than their competitors, absolute rubbish, this is the only oven I've ever used where I had to wear an oven glove to adjust the gas burner temperature.
The burners also are difficult to light (apparently a "safety" feature) which okay, I understand, but they t...Read more
urn off randomly. This apparently can be caused by a lack of oxygen to the burner, if using a large pot. Ilve is saying they can do nothing about this. Really?!? A large pot, what good is a cook top if a large pot will randomly stop the burner in the middle of a cook. I didn't buy a six burner stove living on my own to cook for one. Large pots are used on most of my cooks. About to contact our retailer again to get someone else to look at it, but the useless responses from the Ilve service people means I will be telling people I know to avoid this brand, and I definitely will never purchase one again.Purchased in October 2018 at e&s for A$3,299.00.

Terrible cooktop - burners randomly go out
Whilst I am happy with the function of the oven, the cooktop leaves a lot to be desired. Less than 1 year old, and already several issues that have been occurring since purchase that are still under investigation/repair. The two back large rear burners light but then randomly go out with only a 26cm pot on. Today, I re-lit it 8 times, and ended up moving to wok burner as I couldn't get the larger burners to stay alight. Effectively two of the burners are useless.
I also find lighting the burners, particularly the smaller ones, difficult a...Read more

Disappointed with the product and the service.
The oven lighter failed 3 months after purchase in May 2017. It took 2 days to confirm a service booking and a week for a technician to come. The technician said it was a common problem with the switch that prevents ignition when the oven door is closed. He did not inspect or check the switch, but advised that the part had to be ordered interstate and would take another week or so to arrive.
The second technician also said this was a common issue and "fix" the problem by removing the door and putting it back again. Apparently the switch is ...Read more
activated by one of the hinges and this procedure somehow resets the parts. He advised that if it failed again I should ask for the switch to be brought by the [next] visiting technician. He also said that if the cooker weren't under warranty he would recommend disabling the switch altogether. A couple of days later when I tried to use the oven again it did not work. For the third time I have to wait over a week for a technician to come. This is an expensive brand and I expected a quality product and good service if *ever* required. Alas this has not been the case. Premature failure after 2 months' service with a "common" problem suggests poor design, materials, or workmanship. In addition the back burners are difficult to light and prone to go off. This is the sort of thing that you would accept from a low cost/quality product, but not from this expensive brand. So far the service has been ineffective: response is very slow; bookings are not confirmed immediately, it takes up to 3 days to get confirmation and then over a week of waiting for the visit to take place. The two technicians that I have experienced came unprepared to deal with a problem they claim to be very common. From the service call they should have known what to expect, but failed to bring spare parts. Neither inspected the defect to confirm that their diagnostic was correct. I also find the suggestion of disabling a safety feature not the kind of advice I would expect from a technician representing a quality brand. Finally and perhaps not surprisingly, an email to Ilve (customercare@ilve.org.au) has gone without response; hopefully they will react to this review and take proper care of their customers.Similar opinion? Hi,
I'm considering purchasing an Ilve NT190WMP/1 (electric oven/induction top 900 stove) which is currently selling for $4800. I'm struggling to work out why the PW190MP (which appears to be essentially the same except for a rotisserie, a cool touch door/knobs, and a drawer underneath rather than a drop down storage door) is $2000 more expensive. I'm also concerned that the photo of the NT190WMP/1 on the Ilve website shows it having 8 knobs whereas when I asked the Ilve rep what the extra knob was for they said the picture is incorrect and it only has 7 knobs) which means I can't actually see what the NT model looks like before purchase! Does anyone have this stove and able to offer feedback/advice?

I am contemplating buying an ilve but most reviews are fairly poor. Has anyone that has owned one for a while had any problem/ faults. Trying to decide on a Ilve or Smeg 900 freestanding dual fuel oven.

We bought ours after several friends recommended Ilve. We've had our oven for about a year and a half now and love it. So far we've had no problems at all
Thanks Didee for that its better than asking a sales guy who just wants to make money. Thanks again.
I have an Ilve and a I wouldn't recommend. The oven works well. The gas stove top has an Ilve design feature that requires you to turn and hold the knob in for 5 seconds for it to stay lit. I really dislike this feature. I have had issues with the stove top. I have two burners that are very hard to get lit, You have to keep turning/moving the trivet until you get it in just the right spot. I have also had to get the burners adjusted as the flames/gas didn't have enough pressure/flow. Even after this, the wok burner doesn't give as much heat as I would expect and the flame/gas pulses on low. Hope this helps.

screws on the rear terminal block are not tightened properly and as this results in a high resistance connection. When the oven is used this can lead to a sometimes dramatic, temperature rise causing damage as seen in the pictures. I'm afraid this is not a product fault but rather an installation issue; it is imperative that the screws on the terminal block are tightend properly otherwise this is what can happen. You will note that there is a lable next to the terminal block stressing the importance of tightening the screws. ILVE Customer Care
