Happy to lie to your face
Worst customer service you will ever come across. Home loan officer Amanda happy to lie to your face then when caught out just dismisses it like it doesn't even matter. Will just tell you what you want to hear to get you onboard but zero accountability when their staff tell you the wrong information! So I am meant to understand the loan document when not even your own staff can? Apparently it's covid times so it's fine for them to change it & not inform you. PLEASE AVOID.

Savings Maximiser now penalises Pensioners.
I have been with ING for at least five years.
The Good?
Foreign and ATM transaction fees refunded.
Highest Bonus Interest Rates
OSKO
Until Now!
The Bad?
From March 1st unless you increase your balance on previous months balance you lose the Bonus Interest Rate and drop down.
THE UGLY
0.5% interest....

Seemed OK until Mum died NOW IGNORE ALL EMAILS heartless uncaring disrespect to my Beautiful mother.
My late Mother was a customer of ING for over 15 years.
Then my precious beautiful Mum died in my arms leaving me shattered and heart broken
Then I had to deal with ING. They have refused to release Mums few thousand dollars without me paying $3000+ for letter of administration and won't tell me as the next of kin and reems of forms, paperwork and certified documents, if there is enough money to even cover that. Waste the little money Mum had because they CHOOSE to not release it.
Customer Excellence is non existant toward me 5 weeks of this...

From a good to bad in a few years
***If you went with this from barefoot investor now is the time to look at other banks because the benefit is no longer here.
This bank previously had good savings rates but not anymore.
This bank cannot print specific statements for periods that have already had a statement generated- meaning if you want 2 specific months from the start of last year sadly no... you get the 6 month period in one document- doesn’t help for a home loan. This bank also is made their savings rate harder to achieve by not letting you dip into savings.

Read more a bank to do deposits actually really sucks, not having someone to discuss home loans with in person sucks, trying to deposit loose change sucks, the call centre sometimes has lengthy delays which sucks. To their credit - great flexibility and rebates with travel once you’ve ticked all their boxes... however with travel overseas unable to happen - this bank is up crap creek and not worth staying at! I do thank you for the good times in the past and I was one of those proud orange card people flashing it about, but now I’m just constantly thinking I’d be better off with another bank and ING doesn’t care/look after their current customers - we’ve become just a number.jettsetterGreater Melbourne (Metropolitan), VIC

Shifty and greedy
I have been with ING for many years and this latest change to the Bonus Saver terms is a reflection of their disdain towards their customers. In order to qualify for the bonus rate, the amount in the account has be up from the previous month. This has to be from an external source and not from interest earned. They stated they are doing this because customers were asking to help them save.
What a load of crock !! If that was really the case , why not just apply those terms to those who supposedly asked ? Of course not, because no such person'...
Read mores actually exists !! Imagine having to use some of the funds for an emergency, how is one ever going to get the amount back to more than it was ??!! Looks like Gordon Gekko is running the show at ING and taking advantage of this pandemic to sneak in such terms to lock in funds for them to play with. As this new condition starts in March, I will be transferring my savings to another bank with lower rates but with the satisfaction of knowing they will not have access to it. Greed is never good !!ChrisSydney Surrounds, NSW
Closed my accounts giving no reason
To be honest ive been with ING for many years & their Orange Everyday saved me a lots on fees , especially overseas withdrawls ATM rebates, ive been going along nicely until i got an email saying all my accounts will be closed. Apparently i broke their terms & conditions , but didnt tell what i did , what i worry about is not so much loosing a banking service but the fact they may red flag me to other financial insitutions. I have complained to AFCA , im not hopeful that this govenment dept can influence the decission.

Never trust ING
I can't mention anything less than this rating. I have been dealing with ING Bank for few years now. I recently closed my credit card with ING Orange One. I asked the bank to issue me a "Closure Confirmation Letter" which the bank states this is a non standard request and the automated email you receive upon closure is the only proof apart from the last statement. My last statement even though its mentioned as Closed the 1st page of the statement shows I have Account Limit and Credit Limit still the same but not mentioned as Zero. For any custo...
Read moremer requirements or letter of closure confirmation the bank is saying 2-3 business days. Every person to whom you talk gives a different days version. I never expected this kind of nasty service from a reputed bank. I have at least made 3 calls till today just for getting the closure confirmation letter. Sorry to say, I will not recommend this bank anymore to any of my circle. I will move my account sooner from ING.JackGreater Melbourne (Outer), VIC

It is hard to think of a worst bank!!
I have enquired 3 months ago about my borrowing capacity and was told completely different information both by the same consultant and other consultants. Pretty much each time I talked to someone I received conflicting advice, $100,000s different in my borrowing capacity, and options. It seems that staff had no clue at what they were doing. After hours and hours on the phone, with no one taking responsibility for the non sense they provided, I filed a formal complaint and I missed out on several properties due to the bank's incompetent staff. I...
Read more was hoping that this way someone would care enough to look at the issues, and my experience and tried to resolve it. But no!!! Not at all. Instead they gave me the same non sense no apology, they didn't even bother reading earlier correspondence, they didn't attempt to try to address my queries. Nothing. Shocking!!! We have taken several loans with them, we have repaid each loan well ahead, we thought we were good customers, but they obviously do not care at all for their clients. Stay away from that bank - anyone else would be better!!!Natalie A.Illawarra, NSW
ING - The most frustrating bank of all time!
I have been with ING for 4-5 years but the ONLY reason I am still with them is that you don't get charged for ATM/overseas transactions. Both myself and my husband have been denied a Credit Card TWICE each (despite formally appealing the decision), and we were never told the reason (even though we have 2 x credit cards with other major banks and have solid, stable incomes), I've been denied access to changing my name even though I sent through the exact marriage detail documentation they required, and despite my 17 year old daughter applying fo...
Read morer a student debit card for over 5-6 months, with so many hoops to jump through (eg JP signed documentation), they are now denying her the card because she didn't access it in the first month. I am SO over this online bank and am ready to go back to a good old-fashioned, face to face bank as soon as possible. Never had a more frustrating experience with a bank and I've been with CBA, NAB, ANZ so have had certainly tried the competitors - just think of it like the worst Telco experience you can have. Even though it was recommended by the Barefoot Investor, the meagre financial benefits are simply not worth the sheer frustration/time wasting involved in banking with ING.Babsie

Dishonest & incompetent workers
Called to close my Investment, spoke to someone (stupid me didn't get her name) interest rate dropped 2% in 12 months very little change in RBA interest rates in 12 monts. Old rate 2% new rate .22% was not advised of large decrease, was told someone would call in 3 days no one called. Went to withdraw funds to reinvest in another bank. Funds had never been released.

The worst bank ever!!
I have banked with ING since 2003. The account that my ING account was originally linked with was closed. Tried to link to another bank acct for 2 years and no joy from ING. Sent all documentation still not enough for them. After numerous emails and phone calls I demanded they close my account ASAP & send me a bank cheque. No ‘sorry’ or ‘thank you for being a customer for 17 years!”. Now I’m receiving annoying service emails from ING & in their email it says “you cannot unsubscribe from service emails”.
Seriously! No fees for no service that’s what you get from ING. Happy to be ‘free’.... well except for the silly service emails that is. Ugh!

This could happen to you if you bank with them
Have been an ING customer for many years and out of the blue they sent an email threatening to put a hold on my account in 7 days. Called the customer service, after being put on hold for so long some rude people finally talked to you without offering anything helpful. Do not bank with this bank.

I had bad experience with ING bank. Customer service treat the customers really bad. They made it impossible to open the new account despite sending required document, they ask the questions which they already have the details.

Worst customer service
They closed my bank account without providing any reason for that. It's like you are sentenced to prison without giving you any explanations. If they decide they want to close your account they have to disclose the reason. For my case, I am 100% sure there is no reason for closing my account.

I was a fully identified customer (100 points and then some), for in excess of 10 years. For no apparent reason, ING recently asked me for a Certified Copy of my Passport (already supplied as stated). They also asked several questions about my traveling history. Why? Because they are "complying with Government requirements".
Has anyone else been subjected to these ridiculous requirements? Why should I go to this trouble and expense?
Naturally, I have closed my accounts. However, just interested in other peoples' experience with ING.

I just got this crap as well. Threatening to close my accounts unless I provide certified ID docs and answer all these questions. I told em go ahead, I'm taking my money elsewhere.
Good for you. I'm going to boycott ING too. If you die your family will be put through hell trying to get your money. They are ruthless.
I got treated so bad. With same request for identity. Including source of income etc. I thought the calls were scams. There are warnings about identity theft all over their website. Finally called bank and they said too bad. Your accounts are getting closed today. Nice way to treat customers. Glenn is not nice person. Doesn't even allow people to fix it or have another option. My suggestion is to close all accounts and never bank with ING.
