Average service, average product, average experience.
Approached the team here 3 months out from my wedding for the groomsmens suits. Delay after delay which were poorly communicated to us (if at all) Felt like I spent most of my time chasing them up for the whereabouts of our suits after paying for them all in full in advance.
The operation seemed unorganised and like there was no urgency in getting it done with time to spare for second fittings. When it came to the second fittings shirts didn't fit properly, nor did jackets. Had to get the items remade and express posted to us so we could ha...Read more
ve them literally the week of the wedding. (I was told they would be ready in 6 weeks at the most) Not good enough for a business which prides itself on being a professional suit maker/tailor. I wouldn't recommend these guys to anyone and would advise finding someone who actually does the basic stuff well. Customer service, prompt delivery, Following through with deadlines quality product all of which they failed miserably on. Not to mention the guy we met with in the beginning having the most unprofessional, unhelpful attitude. We all left asking each other if we all thought it was a little odd.Similar opinion? poor quality product. not worth the trouble
My experience with institchu was horrible. I had my suit made for my wedding along with my groomsmens pants. The pockets on my pants did not sit right and looked funny. They were gaping and the fabric was gathering. Initially, i was told it was because i had big thighs. I have many tailor made suits and never an issue, so to blame my legs was ridiculous. They sent my pants numerous times to try to fix the issue. It never got fixed and the solution was to stitch the pockets closed for the wedding. The photographer kept on asking me to put my han...Read more
ds in my pocket. Needless to say that I had some awkward photos and i can never get those moments back . After the wedding, they re made my pants. Although they now fit well, the quality is poor. The trousers have no lining, so after 6 months there is already a hole. I have had my other tailor made suits for over 5 years and they are still in good condition and i wear them regularly for work. In my opinion their suits are cheap, poor quality products. Everybody loves the idea of a tailor made suit and the price seems like a good deal, but the end product is nowhere near up to standard. The amount of time i wasted (i think it was close to 3 months) for a suit that has lasted 6 months. I would not recommend this to anyone.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!
Awful service. Really unprofessional.
Shirts still don't fit after 4 rounds (6 months) of refits. Many wasted visits. They even lost my measurements. Now I'm 2 weeks into waiting on my refund (which I was told would take 7-10 days). Scam.
Update:
I was contacted by Institchu asking I remove this review, even though they do not deny what happens. This fact alone makes me lose their trust. How many of their reviews are tampered? Or even real?
To their credit, I eventually got my refund and complementary shirts. So they are probably not a scam; just very poor execution on an otherwise good business model. Still, if I could give them 0 stars I would - for all the time and trouble they've caused me and for asking me to delete a truthful review.

Give yourself plenty of time for them to get the sizing right
My wedding suit turned out very good for the price, I would recommend for a one day suit that you wouldn't wear regularly.
The three business suits I purchased took far too long to get the sizing right, I ended up using my own tailor to get them right.
The service they provide is terrible - I have had several friends buy business suits and none of them were happy with the final product, service and difficulty to get the sizing right.

Poor customer service and low quality suit
Went in with high hopes and came out with a sub par product and simply terrible service by their so called 'customer service' team. sent in my tailored suit to obtain the exact measurements and received another suit that was totally off? How?? seriously. was then asked to go to the Vic Office in 101 collins to obtain correct measurements. waste of time and also the materials used are bad, its only also half canvassed. the suit is an embarassment. was offered a free shirt as a gift. placed order on 2nd June for it, nothing received ye and depsite my constant follow ups, nobody seems to want to help...bad company, bad product> do not buy!
The website is all that I can approve of
Bad suit, bad service and shocking overall experience.

So many errors! Not professional tailoring
Originally, I placed the order in the Sydney Showroom but had to contact Customer Service as the order was never processed. After a 7 day wait for this issue to be fixed, I waited another 4 weeks to receive the items. There are so many issues with what I received. The pants were meant to have side tabs but came with belt loops (such an annoying and stupid mistake), they are too baggy when they were meant to be super slim and are also too tight around the wait. The chest pocket on my shirt is under my armpit and the collar is so large and thick ...Read more
as if made for an Investment banker circa 2001. It all makes me question if real tailors actually make these products. I don't recommend this service if you know a thing or two about tailoring and menswear, especially not for Weddings unless you order 2 years in advance to rectify all the problems you are likely to receive. Online chat service, inexpensive Poor tailoringSimilar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Items made wrong. Awful Quality. Worst Follow-up Service Ever.
One of the worst online shopping experiences I have ever had. First I went into the studio to get measured to ensure everything would fit correctly. The owner of the company, [name removed], did my measurements so I can assume he knew what he was doing.
When my order arrived all the items were crushed in the box, and that was just the start of the debacle to follow. I ordered 1 jacket, 1 suit (jacket and pants), 2 shirts and a tie.
Neither of my jackets actually fit me. The lining in the sleeves in 1 jacket is so long that it hangs out ...Read more
the bottom of the sleeves (great look), this jacket was ordered with half lining (none in the back) so it wouldn't be too hot to wear in the QLD weather, it came with full lining. Its so tight around the chest that the buttons can't be done up. The stitching in the lapel is also coming out. My second jacket is also so tight around the chest that it needs to be let out before it can be worn. One of my shirts is about 2cm too tight around the neck so the top button can't not be done up. The other shirt was made with the wrong collar the sleeves (cuffs) and not what was ordered.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Couldnt even buy the product
Spent 15 minutes measuring myself up and got everything in the basket. However it didn't let my checkout because it kept asking me to update my size even though I had done it 10 times. Ended up logging out trying again only to lose all my measurements and item selection. Waste of time.Seriously Institchu sort your site out, totally unacceptable and you've just lost a $500 order. Going to buy off Indochino instead.
Bad purchasing platform

Bad ordering system, unable to make modifications.
I can't comment on the quality of the product, but I had many issues with the web site.
When I changed something on the items, I ended up having a new product of the same type added to the Shopping Cart without making the requested change on what I initially ordered.
Email customer support is great, but after 2 major issues (I lost all items in the Shopping Cart first) I ended up to use this system. The idea is great though, I hope someone will built a more reliable system in the future.
Idea, design, wide options of customization, email support.
The ordering system is full of bugs. Couldn't place the order as the result.

Don't ever use this company
I made an order for 3 shirts and nearly 3 months later still waiting for my order to arrive. Original order was incorrect so still waiting for the replacement to arrive. Customer service is severely lacking and impossible to get a straight answer about my order. It's a great idea in theory but if Institchu can't deliver on a simple order of 3 shirts what is the point. Who knows maybe the shirts will be decent...if i ever get them!!
Poor customer service, failure to live up to promises

Save your money and go somewhere else
Have had several friends buying suits here for various occasions. They advertise high quality super wool, but in reality it feels cheap. The measurements were way off and the cut fit poorly. All their other suits off the rack look fine but these don't look like a custom suit at all!!
Avoid at all costs!
Nice looking website.
poor quality, material and fit.

Suits were made 5-9cms off measurement!!!
We were referred to Institchu by a friend who had his suits for his wedding tailored by them. We decided to go with Institchu for our wedding as well. We got Institchu's Stylists to measure the men and when the suits arrived, the Groom and Best Man's suits were too large i.e. 5-9cms off measurement! Also, the "complimentary" shirts for the suits arrived in DARK BLUE instead of White and 2 of these were also off measurement!
When the suits arrived we had 2-3 days to our pre wedding shoot so we called to ask what we could do. The Stylist refe...Read more
rred us to their preferred Alterer and we went to drop off the suits there to get it fixed. The total alteration cost for 3 suits (2 for Groom and 2 for Best Man) was $489.00 and when we advised that we should not be paying for this cost, we were advised they would only cover $100 per suit like in the their "policy". The Alteration company also advised that a man who had lost 10kgs since his measurements were first taken came to get his suit altered and the cost was still within $100 and Institchu paid for this! Yet they were giving us a hard time with something that was not a fault of our own. We had to go buy new white shirts for the pre wedding shoot because there was no way they would be remade in time. We were extremely upset and frustrated and spoke directly to the Director to which he later accepted to provide the full refund for the alteration cost of the suits (after a lengthy debate as he emphasised his "policy") and have the white shrts remade. The fault was not that we had lost or gained weight, but rather the manufacturing company who made the suits off measurement (they were also located offshore in China). We sent the alteration company's receipts to Institchu and till this very day, I'm still chasing up for the refund and being ignored by the Director of the company. Much inconvenienced for a "tailored made" suit that did not fit and yet they were quick to blaming us for the issue on "why we didn't ask to get it remade" (within the 2-3 days before the preshoot) or "ask about alteration costs prior to proceeding". We thought that if it was the company's alteration company that they would liaise in terms of the $100 cost as Institchu pays, but turns out that we have to pay for the entire cost first and then Institchu reimburses later. So this $100 alteration policy is not convenient in any case. Regarding the incorrect coloured shirts, a week before the wedding we chased up to find out when the new tailored made shirts were coming and to our surprise (not!) they had not been remade as the Director ordered them not to be. So last resort, the stylist gave us premade standard white shirts a few days before the wedding and that was that. What a waste of time and effort. Suggest that if you want A Huge Hassle And Stressful Wedding to go with these guys, cause they did a very good job at it for me.Similar opinion? Write a review on ProductReview.com.au!

Hi, I am getting married in March and my fiancée and I took our groomsmen to Institchu to see what they had to offer and get a quote. We were happy with the details but a little taken aback that they wanted full payment up front before the order would be made up. We feel a little vulnerable
about paying in full as it potentiallyleaves you with no recourse to question the quality or workmanship. As a comparison, my wedding dress is a bespoke dress and is currently being made overseas for delivery in January. I have paid half the amount with the remainder due on receipt. I rang to discuss with the terms with the Institchu salesperson but she advised it was a company policy and she had no way to change that. Given that it is a substantial amount of money to outlay I was wondering what other people’s thoughts are on the issue? I see that the reviews are overwhelmingly positive with the final product and that is heartening at least.
Thanks,
Karen

They have the perfect fit guarantee which should give you some comfort. The suits are bespoke also, but are far less pricey than a wedding dress. I would imagine that if someone paid 50% for a few suits but didn’t pay the other 50% it would result in substantial loss to instichu (no idea what their mark up is but I doubt it’s 50%). You can send the suit back as many times as you like until you are happy with the fit and you don’t pay for alterations. I’ve found the workmanship and materials to be of outstanding quality. All my best formal/business clothes have come from instichu, that goes for the fit, material quality, style and workmanship. I would be very comfortable if I were you. In my experience alterations take about 1 week so don’t leave it too long before the wedding to order so that you leave time for one to two alterations if needed. Also it takes a month for delivery so keep that in mind. Speak to Georgia at the Clarence St Sydney shop. She knows it all and should provide you with some comfort. Good luck for the big Day
Thanks for your reply Steveb. Appreciated.
