Terrible Service
My review of Institchu is a mixed review due to the experience of the service.
My overall experience with my original stylist was unbeatable, [name removed] was not pushy, knew what he was doing and overall a very good service provider.... however it started going down hill near the end with the company as a whole.
We originally purchased 6 premium 3 piece suits with an extra shirt for myself (Groom) 6 months before my wedding. There was a mix up with the ordering of our shirts as the style of the shirts (Peak shirt with black studs was ori...
Read moreginally ordered but buttonless standard shirts was entered into the system) was incorrectly logged by [name removed] so on arrival he had to organize replacements to be arranged with still 2 months left until my wedding day. What happened next by [name removed] was service I hadn't seen in a while from a store, when he realized his mistake he took full responsibility and expedited the replacement shirts and the original shirts that had been sent where then GIFTED to us as an apology from them... This amazed myself and my wedding party as these where $120 shirts each. From this act I was determined to wright a glowing 5 star review and promote institchu to all my friends and familys with weddings coming up.1 comment
Dont spend too much!
Now you want a bespoke suit but the reality is its not so bespoke at all. Then everything is delayed.Four weeks become eight weeks. Then tailoring is average. Alterations never happen the way you want. The suits particularly jackets do not fit well and do not look good either. They do not simply understand how you want a garment to fit your body. However they will always say a poorly fitting jacket or pant looks so great on you....not at all in reality!
I did not lodge any claim for refund etc. as I knew that was going to be a waste of time. Disappointed with repeated alterations, I had my usual tailor fix the suit.
Not quite perfect but would use them again
Great service from Tim Aquino with solid advice for styles and fabrics. Attended my office to do the fitting during business hours which certainly made it convenient! Bit of a delay on delivery due to a hold up with customs. Not InStitchu's fault however I did have to ring them to find this out, as opposed to them letting me know in advance. The clothes themselves fit perfectly first time, no adjustments needed. Pants felt a little tight but I was assured they would loosen up and that has proven to be the case. For the price I paid it would have been good to have two pairs of pants included. Quality seems great although time will tell. Overall not quite perfect but close to it and I would use them again.

Good people, good service, ordinary suits.
Service experience has the right mix, but the product falls short. After 3 attempts to to get the suit pants of my second InStitchu suit right (each arriving in a different size and lining configuration despite the same instructions), it still wasn't right. In addition, on the 3rd pair, both back buttons fell off in my hand when I undid them for the very first time. So I handed the whole suit to St Vincent de Paul Society. But I wasn't compelled to write this until just now, as M y first institchu suit (purchased some weeks prior) has dropped both hems. It also had the back buttons fall off despite me avoiding using the pockets.
Will be going somewhere decent next time.

The ultimate cost effective solution to quality-made clothing
After perusing the internet for solutions to my clothing needs, I came across this website, Institchu as it was called. Initially I was rather hesitant in making any so-called purchases as at the time, there were no Melbourne-based stores to physically visit.
Subsequently, after a few months went by and suddenly there was a store... well not a store, more so like a consultation room or loft.
Before entering this establishment, a word of advice... make a booking; otherwise you'll be shunned away or the very most, a sales person will fit y...
Read moreou into a timeslot. Luckily enough, I was in the neck of the woods and had some time off to attend both. Looking at the website in order to acquire some suggestions towards my overall tastes; I came across three suits; the first was blue steel, then rico and the third was hancock 2. To my surprise, they didn't really have the third to choose; as my requirements was for a wedding and also for those moments where I had to wear one for every day or even for a job application in the near future. Apart from the what-you-see-is-what-you-get from the website, there was a physical representation of the blue steel suit. And then I was shown an endless amount of options where I'd probably glazed over for most; some were somewhat a bit higher in price; although at the time, I was enjoying the one-on-one experience of having a consultant personalise my needs for a change as opposed to a larger store where one would probably not experience in such a way.Value for Money
Second order from Instichu. Great idea, great value. Their ordering system requires some work as I have had delays with both my orders. But, having said this - it is value for money. Dont expect italian craftmanship - you are having a suit tailored at a budget price. I will use them again.

First buy from InStitchu
I ordered a black jacket (basic item) to test out the tailoring. I used measurements from the mport scanner so I was testing two things at once. The jacket took 4 and half weeks to arrive, the site advertise 3-4 weeks. The jacket fits perfectly and cost about the same or less than a similar item off the rack.
Price, fit and cut.
Arms are a little tighter than I am used to but not so tight I cant wear it. Took a bit longer than advertised to arrive.
Not Happy
We had the fitting done for my fiancee at the Sydney Store. As the suit was for our wedding we were reassured at the time of fitting it would make it here in time for the wedding (we ordered a month before the wedding). They even said they would leave a note on the order to make sure this suit is made on time and said it usually takes 3-4 weeks for it to arrive.
3 weeks had passed so we called the company to find out if it was on it's way. We were told that the status was "with tailors" and once it's shipped they will have a tracking number fo...
Disappointed and still without a suit!
I ordered my suit almost 5 weeks ago and the status hasn't changed from "with the tailor". I initially emailed at 3.5 weeks from order date to ask why it hadn't changed (remember they are coming from China, so it should've at least been shipped by then) and received a vague email from them saying that once they get the consignment note that they would pass it onto me. I then emailed again exactly 4 weeks from the order date and received a reply saying that the tailors are sending out a shipment on Monday. It's now Thursday, the status hasn't...
Read more changed, I haven't received a reply to my email I sent yesterday and I've tried calling 4 times today and just get an answering machine. I hate leaving bad reviews but I read these reviews before I purchased and I want people to be able to make an informed decision when spending hundreds of dollars on something. I wished I never purchased the suit, it has been a complete waste of time and money. Price - obviously you're paying less than you would getting a bespoke suit made. Great Product! Worth the (somewhat long) wait!
When the suit arrived (in 5 weeks, although it says 3-5 weeks on the website), I was blown away by the fit and quality of the fabric and the fit, which they miraculously managed to get right in one attempt. The sleeve length of the jacket was cut to reveal just the right amount of shirt sleeve (I ordered a shirt as well). My particular configuration was a double breasted model, which is admittedly harder to get the right fit from, so I was pleasantly surprised. I can confirm the promise of a full canvassed suit, as well, an element of construct...
Read moreion unheard of at these price levels. I do have one qualm though: The buttons were sloppily sewed on without the right ammount of shanking. However, I will happily send the suit to a tailor, as they have promised to cover alteration costs. Overall, I highly recommend their services. Affordable (especially with deals), high quality Some poor finishesCaptain StabbinSydney
Suits were spot on!
I was pretty sceptical about ordering a suit online (especially at this price point). However, the quality and fit of the suit I ordered has exceeded my expectations! I had a couple of questions about the process when I was measuring my suit and I jumped on the chat program on their website and had all of my questions answered almost instantly. After I submitted my measurements I recieved and email from one of institchu people asking me to double my trouser length (apparently based on my height it should have been longer). Low and behold, they ...
Read morewere right! I will definitely be using instichu again and have been recommending it to all of my mates!!!! Great to see that Australians are finanly not getting ripped off by at least one retailer, Awesome Website. Awesome Customer Service. AWESOME PRODUCT QUALITY! It's a lottery
Great idea and a good range, but too many items are being delivered with incorrect fabrics. Quality control must be very poor. And although they promised a replacement for each, I haven't seen any of them yet (after months). Of course, if you're lucky you could get a great garment, but I've wasted a lot of money on items that have been delivered off-spec.
Great in theory
Poor service, purchased product is often inaccurate.

Hi, I am getting married in March and my fiancée and I took our groomsmen to Institchu to see what they had to offer and get a quote. We were happy with the details but a little taken aback that they wanted full payment up front before the order would be made up. We feel a little vulnerable
about paying in full as it potentiallyleaves you with no recourse to question the quality or workmanship. As a comparison, my wedding dress is a bespoke dress and is currently being made overseas for delivery in January. I have paid half the amount with the remainder due on receipt. I rang to discuss with the terms with the Institchu salesperson but she advised it was a company policy and she had no way to change that. Given that it is a substantial amount of money to outlay I was wondering what other people’s thoughts are on the issue? I see that the reviews are overwhelmingly positive with the final product and that is heartening at least.
Thanks,
Karen

They have the perfect fit guarantee which should give you some comfort. The suits are bespoke also, but are far less pricey than a wedding dress. I would imagine that if someone paid 50% for a few suits but didn’t pay the other 50% it would result in substantial loss to instichu (no idea what their mark up is but I doubt it’s 50%). You can send the suit back as many times as you like until you are happy with the fit and you don’t pay for alterations. I’ve found the workmanship and materials to be of outstanding quality. All my best formal/business clothes have come from instichu, that goes for the fit, material quality, style and workmanship. I would be very comfortable if I were you. In my experience alterations take about 1 week so don’t leave it too long before the wedding to order so that you leave time for one to two alterations if needed. Also it takes a month for delivery so keep that in mind. Speak to Georgia at the Clarence St Sydney shop. She knows it all and should provide you with some comfort. Good luck for the big Day
Thanks for your reply Steveb. Appreciated.
