Hi,
I'm considering an extended warranty on a 3 year old Nissan Patrol Y62. Can you clarify the following:-
1) If the timing chain fails (assuming a fault was not picked up at service and no indication of failure noted) and this destroys the engine.....would I be covered for a replacement engine of similar mileage?
2) If the water pump fails and the engine is damaged due to overheating as a consequence, would the engine be repaired or replaced under warranty or just the water pump?
3) If the crankshaft oil seal failed, would the warranty cover replacement
4) If the head gasket failed, would the warranty cover all repairs?
5) If the car had a fault that was incorrectly diagnosed by your approved repairer and work completed, would you cover this cost even though it was not the defect? Would that still be the case if the incorrect diagnoses was for an item that is not covered in the warranty?

Hey mate, it's limited warranty so I think it would only cover some of the cost but if you're car was completely gone surely that'd be an ACCC thing right? You should ask the dealer to make sure.

In the interest of transparency I asked similar questions over email and got the below responses:

1) If the timing belt fails (it's not covered, but assuming a fault was not picked up at service and no indication of failure evident) and this destroys the engine, would I be covered for a replacement engine of similar mileage?

No, the item is not covered, any further damage it causes would not be covered under the warranty due to consequential failure.

2) If the water pump fails and the engine is damaged due to "overheating" (excluded event) as a consequence, would the engine be repaired or replaced under warranty or just the water pump?

No, The water pump itself would be investigated, the remaining damage would be excluded as per the Excluded Events.
3) If the crankshaft oil seal (excluded) failed, would the warranty cover other components that are included?

No, the item is Excluded.

4) If the head gasket failed (excluded), would the warranty cover all included component repairs minus cost of a new gasket?

This item is not Excluded within the warranty, they would look at the Head Gasket repair only, any consequential failure would not be covered.

Your best bet would be to contact the dealership you bought the warranty from . In my case, I got my car towed through RAC to the dealership.

I am about to purchase Extended Warranty for a motorhome but the forum posts you read are always 50/50 and that concerns me because if Integrity or any of these extended warranties are worth their salt why is it seemingly difficult to make a claim.

my warranty was for a car and if you make a claim you have to take your car to a repairer of there choosing to get a report and quote at your expence . some times this is difficult to do. so depends if you want to get it repaired with someone you know or let someone else handle it

Thanks Dale.....there is always a for and against in getting a policy like this and I think overall it is in their favour rather than yours. In my opinion as well Roadside Assistance should be inclusive of the policy and not have to pay extra for it.

Hi I was reading in the comments above about warranty becoming inactive if done on due time! My question is does it matter where the service is done? If it's not done in the vehicles agency it's not valid!?

Coolant is liquid and liquid comes under service. Service is not covered. Its pretty cheap to buy a coolant.

Hi Ocean, Thanks for your question. If you exceed the service requirements intervals by more than 30 days or 1,000 kilometres (whichever occurs first), your Warranty becomes inactive, and it may affect your entitlement to make a claim under this Warranty.

If the clutch has a fault or is broken it would be covered, but if it is fair wear and tear or simply worn out that is maintenance and is not covered with a warranty

Do the values for item repairs as listed in your brochure extend for the full three year period, or are they pro rata as in some other insurers conditions?

What I understand is the replacement parts are covered for the length of the remaining warranty.

I'll rephrase my question. If, for example, a gearbox repair is listed as $3000 in the first year, and it fails in the second, is it still covered for $3000, or does the warranty value reduce in that second year, and again in the third year?

Dave, Terry does not work for Integrity Extended Warranties. There are several Integrity Warranty Plans available. It is important when selecting the warranty that you select the one that best suits your needs. There is no limitation on the number of claims made or kilometres travelled. All repairs to covered Components & Parts by Integrity will be covered by the warranty for the remainder of the warranty term. Hi, I was recently offered the 5 year extended warranty and I am very interested. However, it says in the PDS that this is a 'Discretionary Risk Product', which means that Integrity has absolute discretion on whether to pay out a claim. In other words, Integrity can choose not to pay out a claim even if the claim is coverd by the warranty. If this is the case, what is your policy on the level of protection and assurance that a claim will be honored? As I said, I am very interested, but worried about this 'absolute discretion'. What is a discretionary risk product?
The Warranty is offered as a discretionary risk product. This means that Integrity will decide whether to pay a contribution towards your claim for repair costs.
Integrity has absolute discretion as to whether it will or will not pay even if the claim comes within the Warranty terms in this document. Although the discretion is absolute, Integrity will not exercise that discretion in a way that is unfair or unconscionable and will always consider the merits of your claim.
The Warranty is not the same as an insurance policy because you do not have a right to be indemnified for your loss, you have a right to have your claim for discretionary assistance considered by Integrity and you are entitled to know the outcome of that decision.
For more information about this, please refer to section 9 ‘Significant Risks’.
9. Significant risks
As the Warranty is a discretionary risk product, Integrity is not obliged to pay all claims that come within the Warranty terms. You are entitled to have your claim for assistance with repair costs considered by Integrity. You are also entitled to have Integrity decide whether or not to pay the entire claim or to make a contribution. When making this decision Integrity will always consider the merits of your claim and exercise their discretion in a fair or just way. If Integrity decides not to pay your claim, you will have to bear the repair costs yourself.
This Warranty does not offer the same level of protection that an insurance policy may give you. Integrity is not an insurance company and is not required to maintain the same financial resources that an insurance company does. However, Integrity does meet ASIC’s ‘financial resource’ requirements for an Australian Financial Services Licensee that transacts with customers in this way.
There is a risk when purchasing this Warranty that one or more of your claims may exceed the Warranty Claim Limit for a particular Listed Component. If the cost of the repairs is greater than the Warranty Claim Limit, Integrity may decide that you have to bear that additional cost yourself.
Detailed information about the Warranty Claim Limits for each benefit under your selected Warranty Option is in section 1.
There is also a risk that if you fail to meet any of the conditions which apply to the Warranty, Integrity will not exercise discretion in your favour. Make sure you read ‘What’s included’, ‘What’s not included’ & ‘What is required by me’ for details of the servicing and other conditions that apply to this Warranty.

It has just finished its new car warranty with no issues, but for peace of mind.
However this sounds like a AWN or National style policy with a different name.
Why so many disgruntled clients ?
