I inadvertently selected timer 2 (the whole interface is like being back in the 80’s, very confusing and easy to make mistakes again and again) so now I can't seem to disable the second timer from 00:00. How do I get back to —:— for both on and off for the second timer? Is there no network controller for this unit with an app? Thanks.

Is there an app for this so you can manage settings on your phone or computer?

Not that I'm aware of, but stand to be corrected. Have looked at the iStore website, but there's no app listed for downloading.

Thanks. I did look at their website and wanted to check. It seems that people have varying comments on the led screen on the unit to set run times. A wifi adapter to an app would be a good addition

Thanks, we set timer 1 to come on at 10am and go off at 16.01pm. The unit is using grid power during the night, the fan isn't operating, is that normal?

We recently installed an iStore unit a d the LCD is unable to be activated so we can't see the display at all. How can this problem be rectified?

I don’t know the installer got it up and run he programmed the i store he had no problem

iStore
iStore   DM

external link  Similar to a mobile phone the LCD will turn off to prolong its life, the easiest way to wake the screen is to place the palm of you hand on the LCD and press gently. The screen will turn off again after 30 seconds of inactivity.

To prevent unwanted changes to the iStore settings the screen will automatically lock after 3 minutes of activity on units sold after early 2020. For older units we recommend manual locking of the screens, to lock the screen simply press and hold the power button for 8 seconds until the padlock symbol appears. To unlock any models press and hold the power button for 8 seconds until the padlock symbol turns off.

Is this product noisy? Does it work all day? I don't want any noise at night but I need water early morning. I understand I can program it

iStore
iStore   DM

“Hi Diego G, the iStore is equivalent to a small reverse cycle split air conditioner unit outside. The unit runs for approximately 3-4 hrs per day to reheat a fully used tank. Timers can be set to take advantage of daytime solar electricity generation and can also be programmed not to operate at night as you have requested. The unit will only reheat as required between the 8am to 9pm as you have suggested.

Thankyou - iStoe”

What is the tank made from and what is the refrgerant

Eric - Gungahlin ACT
Eric - Gungahlin ACT

Hi MWheeler - tank on the iStore is a vitreous enamel tank. Refrigerant Gas type, I suggest you contact iStore but it is quoted to work to -5c on the iStore tech data - We went for the iStore unit as we are in our 70's & retired and could not justify the extra cost & longer (5 to 10yrs) pay back period of a split system with a stainless steel tank - Also as we live in the ACT the water here is very "clean" and the life of the enamel tank would most likely be the same as a SS tank.

Hi JKLO,

How did you find the 180L tank in winter in Melbourne for 5 people in your household? Was there enough hot water especially in the morning?

MonL1
MonL1 · Hot Water Heat Pump

Some people said iStore 180L tank is enough even for 4-5 people. We have 3 people in our house and occasionally we have a couple of visitors staying with us but not often. We live in Melbourne, my daughter and I do take long showers, also from time to time I like to take a bath especially during winter months. We also like to take our showers in the morning. I am wondering whether iStore 180L tank is enough for us. Can someone please tell me?

David O'Donohue

We have 4 kids and 2 adults. 3 of which are teenagers. There has been no need for us to enable hybrid mode which is perfect for your scenario. Quicker recovery of hot water by using both compressor and electric. Do a quick google for the manual which is brief but has details.

Hi. Is this system suitable to be mounted on a roof? We are replacing an existing solar hot water heater and all h.w plumbing stems from there.
If so, please can you advise a provider/retailer on the NSW mid north coast.
Many thanks!

Lucky Phil

Ring your local iStore supplier, mate. We left our solar panels on the roof, capped off the plumbing and simply replaced the storage tank. Call 1300 515 640 for any enquiries. They're very helpful. I meant to say we received $900 government rebate for installing this unit so check on that.

Joe

Thanks mate! Did the cost to re-plumb negate the rebate etc? Cheers again

iStore

Hello Joe, The iStore is not designed to be placed on the roof - it's placed on the ground and can use your existing solar. Hope this helps.

Thankyou – iStore

I have a similar issue to ColinM from 3years ago
In Feb 2023 we replaced our instant gas hot water with an iStore 270l. We noticed immediately that the temperature was lower than our former gas system. Like Colin we reluctantly accept it. However, its the pressure which is much lower than our previous system that's unworkable and seems to be getting worse. It's producing less than 6 litres/min. So low that we cannot now have a proper hot shower. You have to run the hot water tap at the kitchen sink for a very long time before warm water comes out of the tap. The system does not seem to be working in a manner fit for purpose. Should we contact the service agent?

WMcA
WMcA

Hi, agree the water temperature is lower than the solar we had but it’s better than boiling water and does suit us, so far have no issues with iStore and would recommend it.

iStore
iStore   DM

Hello there, The anti-scald valves (which are mandated by Government standards) have fine filters inside them to prevent the mechanism from getting stuck open and these filters can be prone to a level of clogging should debris flow thru the system from the mains water supply or home renovations etc. The clogging will reduce the flow of hot water from the iStore.

There is nothing within the iStore unit that can restrict the flow, any restriction will be from the mandated valves or pipeworks.

Please contact the installation plumber and describe your findings and our feedback.

Thanks - iStore

Looking to have a l store 270 installed in the Latrobe Valley Victoria.
l have been priced $5670 to install the unit and another $700 for the plumber to hook it up. (Before Rebate)
Wondering what other people have paid as it seems a bit steep Tia

Too expensive! You should be paying between $2k -$3k including installation but then you're in Victoria so mybe dearer. Probably look for other plumber that does it.

how does this differ or what advantages over traditional solar hot water from roof top panels?

Oscar A
Oscar A

Hi Dave

Heatpump uses refrigerant just like your traditional AC unit only in reverse which uses less power, i think about 1kw. You dont need the sun to make your system work unless you have solar PV which makes it better instead of exporting excess power to the grid, you are using it to heat your water during the day and that's what the timer functionality is for. On the other hand, traditional solar hot water roof requires a booster or a heat element to reheat your water, when there's no sun, so this works like traditional hot water system which uses a lot of power. In saying, solar hot water is pretty much outdated and a new renewable energy is more power efficient like Heatpump. Hope this helps you,.

ok i would be interested if theres someone in the region of auckland nz,i only noticed after the question that its a aussie site,0284634791 nz or davecharles0@gmail.com

iStore
iStore   DM

Hello Dave, Although solar hot water panels have improved in efficiency over the last 20 years, the problem still remains that a booster is required for the winter months where the clouds obscure the sun. The boosters are simple heating elements typically consuming 2.4kw of electricity for each hour the booster is running. A completely cold 300L rooftop tank will consume over 14kw/hr of electricity to heat the tank to 60 degrees. The second problem is that the improvements in efficiency mean that unless there are 4+ people in the home that the tanks can heat to 99 degrees in summer and have no option but to mechanically dump the hot water to protect the tank from over pressure. The third issue still remains that the solar hot water system is consuming valuable roof space typically on the north aspect of the roof where PV electrical solar panels could be positioned to maximize generation.
Finally with maximum electrical draw from a 270L is just over 1kw/hr with a typical full heat requiring 4kw/h, the iStore has built-in timers which further allows consumers to take advantage of daytime PV solar generation to save even more on running coats.
Thankyou - iStore

We have a 180L interest. We have been away for a month and when we got home I reset the times to come on at 0630 and go off at 2130. For the last few days the fan comes on at the right time but at night the temperature has been down to about 20 degrees and the screen says OFF. I have had to turn on the fan so we can shower. Tonight I removed all time settings so the system should run all the time. Why is it turning off during the day and not coming back on when the water temp falls.

Ralph

Try powering off to reset fully. Software in these is not there best feature.

My istore 270L was installed today and we set the timer up from 11am-4:01pm as it’s right outside my bedroom I was assured that it wouldn’t turn on at night and keep me awake or wake me up. I had a shower at 7pm ish and my daughter had her shower at 10:30-10:40pm 5 minutes into her shower I’ve heard the heat pump turn on and it has been running for over 30min now and it hasn’t stopped yet is it using energy at this time of night or is it doing the air to energy thing and will it continue to turn on every night we have our showers? As we don’t need hot water for showers in the morning

Ralph
Ralph

Change your timer to 11:05 and ensure you stop at first timer. One would think that with the number of issues with the timer software IStore would fix it. Perhaps some negative reviews would change their mind.

iStore
iStore   DM

Hello Lisa, All timer systems have ON and OFF states, if you visit the iStore outside of the timer window it displays OFF on the screen, if you force the unit to ON outside of the timer window then it will remain on until the timer window is reached. After discussions with yourself and the plumber it is apparent that you visited the unit after 4:01pm to discuss with your partner and called him because it said OFF, he instructed you on how to turn it ON but didn't tell you to switch it OFF again.

The fact that the iStore said OFF when you visited confirms that the timer is working as normal.

We encourage all consumers to review the iStore FAQs on external link

Thank you
