It's the best decision we have made. The D Max drives and runs like a dream. We have a Ford Ranger and a Hilux at work and would buy the D Max anyday. We have owned the cr since 2016 and have 40k on it so far, we are getting around 8.6lt per 100km.

I have owned my dmax just over two years (2015 model)
Worst purchase I have ever bought. A salute lemon. All components are garbage.
The aireil above the windscreen snapped off when washing the car. The front grill plate fell off after around a year. The metallic paint has absolutely no primer underneath therefore the car rusts when you have a minor scratch. The driver site seat is already ripped just from climbing in and out of the ute.
Would not recommend this ute in any way. I don’t even know how I can get rid of it...
Bought my single cab tray back new in 2013 to tow a trailer as a mowing contractor. Late 2016 had problems with gearbox, jumping out of second gear on steepish downhill runs. Took a year to get it fixed. Around the same time noticed trim on front of bonnet bubbling. This was accepted as warranty fix, but still waiting for it to be done, getting plenty of reminders about service being due, but no mention of bubbling trim being fixed. Have also had rust coming through on the wheels, and chassis, noticeably on the welds. Service manager has starte...
Read mored making excuses, stating that the vehicle has been exposed to corrosives. Vehicle has only ever been used to tow trailer on road. My own driveway is dirt, but my feet and shoes have not corroded away yet.Seatbelts lock when you lean forward, pick something up from the floor or go to adjust the mirror. Isuzu says it's a safety feature but as an end user I say safety issue. You have to stop and undo the belt and let it retract right back before putting it back on and its illegal to stop on a motorway. IDIOTS!!!!! Had other issues but can dealt with those as things that just happen!

Bought first D-Max in 2012 .2WD 4 speed auto and was amazed at its performance and economy. In Dec 2015 traded this in [with 100,000km and full service history] on a new one which was an updated version with a 5 speed auto.I'm from Mildura and was only offered a pittance for my trade in so ended up buying from Jarvis Isuzu in Tanunda SA saving over $5000.As it is a double cab and i wanted a canopy I shopped around and ARB canopies in Mildura,Swan Hill,Bendigo and Keilor were all in the $3200 range. Luckily I found a 4 wheel drive accessory outl...
Read moreet in Geelong [Umhauers] that supplied and fitted one for $900 less than the other outlets. This ute has been a great performer and last year spent 18 weeks doing the big lap 20800 km,and using 2230 litres of fuel towing a tandem Junko Discovery caravan giving 10.72 litres per 100km.With normal driving the ute returns in the low 7's.The worst fuel consumption was 12 lt/100km fighting winds down the WA coast. Best vehicle I’ve ever driven.
Very reliable.
Only 3 little problems..
1. The air con switch only can work on the fullest ( broke after a year of buying my DMax new )
2. The deep blue paintwork has faded to almost white on the roof and the bonnet ( never undercover will do that )
3. I wouldn’t mind if I could raise the drivers seat a little , better view out the windscreen
Apart from that. it’s perfect
January 16th 2018 Update: Love my car ❤️ ...
Read more Love my D-Max ❤️ Most reliable Ute I’ve ever bought. Paintwork is fading bad but after 6 years parked outside on road what do I expect . Great reliable car wish drivers seat could be raised, I’m 5.6” but have to sit on a cushion to see out the windscreen better- 5 reviews

The DMax handles well, is comfortable and practical. We find it pulls our 18 foot caravan effortlessly. It is stylish and quiet . The interior is rather basic without too many bells and whistles and the back seat is not real comfortable for long trips but it's practical easy to clean and the front seats are comfortable . The tray transports all our bits and pieces and is easy to clean. Ours has a vinyl cover which is good but at some point we would like to get a canopy. There are Isuzu dealers most places so it is easy to get services and spare parts!

After almost 30,000kms and two years of ownership, I have been extremely happy with the performance of my 2015 LS-M D-Max (auto). If you are after a no non-sense 4wd to enjoy the outdoors and tow, this vehicle will suit your needs. There are flashier utes on the market, however you pay a premium for that (without the same reliability).
Value for money the d-max is a great option, especially if you are intending to own the vehicle for a while. In my opinion if you are going to lease the vehicle for a couple years, there are better vehicles o...
Read moreut there. However if you are after something reliable without the fancy badge and price to suit, the d-max is perfect. It's a legend in the making. Performance in the bush is good with the traction control system but as with all IFS utes, they're no patrol or land cruiser 70. Treat the vehicle right and it'll get you into the high-country and back no worries. The D-max also tows well with modest torque on tap. In terms of problems I have had, the cab brake light seal leaked water which was fixed under warranty. Other than that, services through my local mechanic are cheap and the 5 year warranty and road side assistance is piece of mind. I would recommend this vehicle, however it will not suit everyone.- 6 reviews

Little more noisy than other vehicles but fuel economy is terrific compared to my Kluger. Great storage - although cup holders are way too small for most water/drink bottles. great to park, super comfortable to drive. tows 2T no problem. I would definitely buy another if they sort out cup holder issue.

I've owned a Toyota Hi-Lux & a Mitsubishi Triton - I can't say anything bad about either of them as both were great, but different in their own ways. But the D-Max has blown me away. Economy, power, feel, & reliability (this engine also has S/Steel timing chain), & I pull a 20ft caravan. Thinking capability off-road 4WD; OH YES! It's so easy to drive both on bitumen & off road. This is the only vehicle my wife has driven on its own AND also towing our van. Perhaps not just me thinking it is OK.

The Dmax does everything i ask her to do every time. I tow a 21.5ft caravan and you can't feel it. Fuel consumption is fantastic compared to its Peers and for a ute its a comfortable drive. The long range tank i had put in makes touring more of a pleasure.
Built for work
Gets the job done
Good value for money [in NZ]
Handles fine for normal driving speeds
I'm a fisherman and my Isuzu is used for everything for towing heavy loads to family outings , always around the sea it seems to resist corrosion ok.
I think they are a good all round Truck.
They do all tasks well .

Read moreill in our local area, we could not get towed or our crapp dmax put on a tilt tray, we had to take to dealership ourselves,1 week later we picked up our ute,, our ute has had other problems, vibration in front end, was blamed all on the brand new Mickey thompson tyres we had fitted ,,has small rust spots already, just over 12mths old, clutch is a problem, yes we have a 5 speed manual, only done 10,000klms now,, most people say new clutch around 30,000 klms,,,Isuzu told us its because we tow heavy loads or we use the clutch wrong,,strange thing is we have only ever towed a small trailer with fishing kayak and some gear in it,other strange remark about bad clutch usage from Isuzu is ,I am a truck driver and our trucks are sold at 800 thousand klms and never in 30 years of driving ,,,have i ever had clutch problems ,the problems are Isuzu and the after sales service,, but I am not the first to state that fact,,on the bright side we pick up our new v8 dual cab landcruiser ute next week,- 2 reviews

Had the car now four years from new. I'm still impressed with the way it drives, handles and goes about it's business. Purchased as the replacement family wagon and occasional work car. Around town it's easy to drive, steering is light and precise, brake smooth and yet powerful. On the highway, there is plenty of power to tackle hills and overtaking can be achieved. Lets not forget were dealing with a 4 cylinder diesel. Interior space is good and roomy only had one person complain about the back seat being a bit up right which yes maybe they co...
Read moreuld have incorporated a bit more tilt. This vehicle has the best clutch of any vehicle I've driven, it's light with just enough pressure and the pick up point is right where it should be. I've taught a few people to drive in this car and very few stall the engine. Fuel consumption is good it returns on average 9 litres/100Km, if the P plater of the family is driving sitting on 90Km/H it dropped down to about 6.5. Unlike many a ute, this girl can easily carry a tonne and does so with ease. Towing is good, but I don'w know how you would go pulling the max 3.5 tonne, probably have to do a fair bit of slipping the clutch. The traction, stability and ABS work quiet well on bitumen, coming on when slip is detected and doing an OK job of controlling the car. The ABS on the other hand works really well. However, off road or on slippery surface, the traction control Will get you bogged. Trying to launch a boat, take your foot off the clutch and accelerate, the car just stops, does nothing. The computer has cut the throttle and your just sitting there. Put it into 4WD and away you go. Was in the slow the other week, pulled off the road for a now fight same thing. Isuzu really needs to install and limited slip diff and or diff lock and re-calibrate the traction control. Read a review recently and supposedly IUA said there was no need to install limited slip diff or diff lock due to how well the traction control works. Obviously they haven't driven any of their utes lately. I've go not rattles in the dash, but it does look a bit plasticky and they could do better. I would give this Ute 5 stars, but for the traction control/diff issues and the fact that IUA don't appear to be overly helpful with their customers when there is an issue like with some of the reviews I've read. The D-Max is an awesome truck, like all vehicles, occasionally there is going to be problems, what we as consumers want is a company that will stick by the consumer and fix the problems not try and side step or make excuses.- 3 reviews

Very reliable, solid vehicle. Goes well off road. It has the largest room in the back and can seat 3 adults to go 3-400kms then they get a bit sore. Servicing is expensive. Controls are good, mine is a 2013 twin cab. It looks good. Don't buy off market accessories but don't work in my opinion. Good car -not sure of its resale value. I will sell it at about 85,000k and see what happens. It badly needs a reversing camera- vision is poor when reversing/parking

I have put this vehicle thru heaps, travelled the Cape, Camerons Corner, Tassie back blocks and got over BIG RED first attempt.
On the bitumen and absolute pleasure to drive.
My only reservation, not a negative but suspension a little rigid for passenger comfort..
However 9.5 out of 10

Mechanically excellent so far but interior comfort is the worst i ever seen
Bought new 15.5 sx space cab chassis 4x4 and have 7000kms on the clock so far. Towed a 1.5 tonne caravan for 3000kms and its run perfectly so no issues there but what really lets this ute down is the seats. Someone here referred to them as being banana shaped and that's exactly what they are you can't sit up straight due to the backrest giving you a hunch back and headrest being too far forward forcing your head to go forward i just took the headrest out but it doesn't really make it more comfortable it really annoys because if i had a chance t...
Read moreo take this thing for a test drive before buying i would have never bought it just because of the seats that's how bad they are what kind of gook thought this was ok must have had some really screwed up posture it's not only the most uncomfortable car seat i have ever sat in but it's the most uncomfortable sitting position i could imagine. The plastic arm rest is a bit low as well but whatever. So mechanically excellent although it feels pretty under powered fuel economy is pretty good with around 750 to possibly 800kms a tank if really using up every drop of diesel but i warn you test drive this thing before buying those seats are a constant irritation and I'm seriously considering selling because of it.- 3 reviews

We went to have a look at the Isuzu because we needed something better to tow our caravan with, we only went to look, and we came home with a new D-Max, we fell in love with the X-Runner as soon as we saw it. It tows our caravan beautifully, has everything we want, really quiet inside, and really economical. Really good purchase price.
Car appears to have blown a head gasket at 47000km. Whilst returning from a family holiday. We were stranded at Airlie Beach with no after sales back-up. It has now been two weeks, having just returned from Airlie by hire car, which I was forced to return from Cooktown, over 1000km. The vehicle has not even been dismantled for a proper diagnosis. I still have no vehicle for work as a self-employed electrician. I have always kept up to date with my services with approved Isuzu dealers.

After getting rid of a Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland (that could not pull pussy up a hill) and purchasing the new LS-T Isuzu D Max 4 Door Ute,it was the best move I have ever made. I have traveled over the state of Tasmania and it hasn't missed a beat. I don't even know the van is behind me. We started in QLD and come down through NSW and VIC on our trip.
