When l first picked up my ute in January of 2014, a New 2013 Dual Cab, Isuzu Dmax Tray back Ute from Toowoomba, we drove out west about 1000 ks, and then headed back east, did a few trips like this while we moved home and towed a new Westbrook Trailer.
On the second trip hubby said 'there is something wrong with the suspension' and we took it in for an early 3000km check up,
'Nothing Wrong' said the service guy, we this went on for another 20,000km with repeated phone calls, emails, and the 10,000km service.
Nothing wrong my foot!, l got si...
Also on that day l enquired about the keys for the tool boxes that are mounted under the tray, 'Keys' no such things as keys for them said Fieldquip......Why on earth would a company make Tool Boxes w...

This all just never ends......Bilstien suspension recommended &fittedby Dale at Ballarat Driveline has transformed a perambulator
Great easy going drive.lt was a dissapointing old cow of a ride until l got the suspension done-guess though the bullbar & winch out front contributed, but these were dealer fitted,as was the uhf arial that fell off half way home from its inaugaural Christmas day Ballarat Bendigo return trip,at least the half tightened up dealer fitted canopy didn't come unstuck despite lossing one fastening compleley- got some nyloc nuts and lock nutted the others that were all done up not much more than finger tight- did the arial attatchement myself but negle...

Look after the vehicle and it will serve you well, never any problems except we sold it.. Great salesman in Shane at Harrison Isuzu Ute, Melton. SHANE ALWAYS LOOKS AFTER Us. Thankyou Harrison Isuzu, a great representative. Nonw we went back to you and you have given us a great deal on a 7 seater MUX Isuzu, diesel, great leg room for everyone. So happy we went back n got a grest deal on an Isuzu Ute for hubby, both tow up to 3 ton, all good n turbo diesal a good engine, thankyou Harrison Isuzu, Melton. N,, salesman Shane.
I convinced 2 mates to buy a dmax after I bought one. And 2 of us have the same shudder in the automatic gear box. Mine started at about 20 to 30 000 hour s at 5000. Isuzu wiping its hands of it. The dealer is doing the same. I have got independent analysis from a gearbox specialist to fix with a cost of $6000.00. Pathetic company and pathetic service. I recommend you stay clear.

2013 Dual Cab LSM ... Awesome vehicle - should have bought one sooner
Honestly.
BEST vehicle in its class
I've done 217,000kms so far and could not be happier.
General driving (around town, traffic, air con on, stop start etc) I'm getting around 8.3lt/100kms
Highway (which I do a fair amount of and quite often at 80-90km/hr in 4wd high) I'm getting around 8.0lt/100kms
Highway with no trailer she'll generally run at around 7.8-7.9lt/100kms
I looked at Hilux which seemed overpriced for what you get, I looked at Navara, which I found too many faults in, in short I looked at heaps of options and this was the be...

Gearbox issues from new. Gearbox notchy and noisy. Changed oil and it was full of metal Rebuilt the box, got the car back and it was worse. Eventually got a new gearbox, got treated by servicing department like I was the problem. New gearbox got noisy, sold the car after just 1 year lost $12,000, good riddance.
Had our 15 xrunner for 14000kms and my wife and myself love it. Suspension bit bumpy but it is a ute with no weight in the back. As it gets older have noticed fuel economy getting better, tows well, sat nav good, stereo could be better, rear camera good, good on the beach.

Great Drive . Good Towing . Completely let down by the drivers seat falling apart after less than two years .
Dealer and customer complaints department not interested , claiming it is not a warrenty issue but due to Ware & Tare . How can that be on a ute that is not even a Tradies vehicle

I have found that the driving experience is even better than the 2011 model and a much better ride.
We will be heading off soon towing our 23' caravan and will try out the auto and the springs on the long road to Mt.Isa and beyond.
It will be a joy to get going again.

Vehicle handles very well, has good leg room front and back and is extremely economical. We have travelled 6,000 ks over the last two months and it has not missed a beat. The D-Max has been bought for towing a caravan and we cannot wait to hit the road on one our adventures.

For a couple of months I have had a 4WD LS-U dual cab with canopy. The interior is comfortable and everything falls to hand easily and works well. Reception and sound quality with the bluetooth phone is good, though the menu system for the phonebook doesn't seem to work well. Don't get me wrong, the phonebook works it just seems clunky to someone used to using a contemporary smart phone. The front seats are comfortable, but lumbar adjustment would be nice. Apparently the rear seats are better (i.e. less vertical) than those in a Hilux, but I...
Read more cannot comment because I haven't sat in the rear seats and don't intend to. The engine and auto transmission are great and work well around the city, on highway and dirt tracks. I must admit that the thought of a 5-speed auto didn't thrill me, but in practice it works incredibly well and doesn't need an extra cog. Handling and suspension are the ute's Achilles heel. It would be a 5 star if the suspension and handling were better. Around town it wallows around corners and round-a-bouts in an unnerving fashion. I previously had a Hilux set up comparably, and the handling of the D-Max around town is significantly worse than the Hilux. There's no reason that the D-Max should handle so poorly around town. New shocks are apparently the fix, but I don't see why Isuzu don't just put good shocks in to begin with. To date I haven't taken it off road, but don't expect any surprises -- no doubt it will be comparable to other 4WD utes.Find out how Isuzu D-MAX RC.I compares to other Utes

Done 28000 kms, towed tandem trailer from Whyalla to Qld twice. Great fuel economy, comfort, no rattles or problems. Will be towing a c'van starting 2016 and i reckon will cruise with confidence with the choice. Will change tyres before setting out on the hwy. Thank you Pt Augusta Isuzu, great team you guys/gals are.
Purchased dec 2013. 5 speed manual. Gear shift is dodgy, feels sticky changing through gears like you have to force it in gear, got told by Isuzu this is normal, even though I drove another and the gearshift was fine. Passenger seatbelt locks whilst on and has to be undone to rectify. Front seats are shaped like a banana (closest comparison) so they force your back out and your neck forward, have to lean it back to use. Fuel consumption is good 8.3/100. Keys are super bump sensitive. No auto light turn off and key hole doesn't light up. Sea...
Read moret belt, 'light on' and 'key remain' beeper and grammar drives me nuts. Especially when you're on property opening and closing gates and chasing cattle. They are not that quiet inside whilst driving, appears to be window noise. Towing, I feel they're a little gutless when you need the power, definitely would not be towing 3.5t with it! Up side. They travel well and handle various roads and basic off road situations quite well, surprisingly. And they look good. I'll see what the Isuzu warranty people will do with any of the above, but as you have read with problems above the likeliness of purchasing another one is lining up pretty close to 0.I have had Isuzu d-max single cab two drive for just on 12 mths,NOT IMPRESSED,Engine is noisy at low speed,I have a 5 speed manual you have to take it to around about 3000 revs to keep up with the traffic,on the open road or highway if you want to over take a slower vehicle traverling around 90 to 100 kms you have to change to 4th gear to get around them or it just does not happen, before I bought the d max I had a Madza BT 50 2.5 litre turbo diesel, it had 100 kilawatts, the Dmax is 130 kilawatts, but the Madza would crap all over this one. Fuel economy is good, comfort is fair, ride is fair,it is able tow 3 ton,on the flat yes, hilly country it would really struggle.

Bought this new a few months ago as a tow vehicle for a 2,000kg boat. Turned out to be better than expected so often gets used as the main family vehicle instead of our normal car. The car is definitely more comfortable but the ute is good enough and its practicality means it is often the first choice in the driveway. Reversing camera makes parking a big vehicle relatively easy, also got front sensors added aftermarket which are worth the money around town.
Ride quality without the canopy & towbar was quite bad, once the canopy & towbar went o...

2012 model lsm twin cab ute, bought new feb 2013, I don' believe any other brand of ute could be any better than this one, we have been all over oz towing 16ft poptop and there is no way any other ute could do the job as good as this one, 15,000k las trip with a lot of weight on van and ute for 11.3lt 100k, very comfortable and smooth. Love it! Due for new ute next year and it will be another d-max, wouldn't consider anything else, bought it from Gilbert and roach at hunting dale, they were great to deal with and I'll get the next on there, it's very satisfying to to purchase something which is great value for money.

- These come with marvellous engines with oil leaks from factory showroom. Common rear main seal leaks, sump seal and noise from gear box without clutch in.
- The drive train CV joints are prone to breaking if you take it offroad.
- rattles all throughout car
- paint work is thin and rust spots when car got delivered after my money was taken.
Since owning this car and putting 60k on it since the problems were fixed, it has proven itself to me. Currently at 80k and car feels like it's only getting better.
Turn off traction control and fit a rear locker and it'll get you there.
Great ute I am a logging contractor in NZ so this ute goes through water mud dust you name it every day. We also have a 2011 Hilux and a 2011 BT-50 Mazda. Used as work utes. All have been reliable considering the work they do the Mazda split a front cv cup at 45,000ks the D-Max has a very solid feel to it when driving and it actually has grease points underneath (pretty important when going through water alot) the other two utes don't. The D-Max has 50,000ks on it with no problems at all very happy with it and when it comes time to upgrade I'll...
Read more be buying another D-Max I won't be trading this ute in on a new one, I'll be passing it down the ranks, that's how much confidance I have in this ute. PS: the engine in the D-Max is G10 rated wich means 90% are expected to do 500,000ks before needing any repairs. 3 years 90,00km 2 sets of mud tyres 2 warrants absolutely no issues so far still very happy Reliability, fuel economy Rear mud flaps to long I rip them off when backing over mud ectUpdate 130'000 km so far no problems I regularly tow a trailer with a delimber on board all up weight 3.6 ton 240km round trip at least once a month this includes two very steep inclines one of which ...
Read moreI have to use 4wd if it is raining to stop the back wheels from spinning ( on a bitumen sealed road ) and includes 10 km of unsealed gravel roads still going strongI love my D- Max . It now has 50k on the clock. Average consumption is at 8.2l/100k.. As an off road vechile this is perfect for the family when we go camping.. I also tow my heavy fibreglass boat at almost 2tonne and I have to remind myself there is a boat on the back when on the highway.. Just love it.. Has that mix of a truck like feel with comfort which suits me perfectly. Not to mention I just love the shape and look with the chrome grill!

This 2014 model has now got digital press button dash display...pain in the [censor word removed]. 09 model was easy and effective to change. How does "Elapse time" help me drive? new model has steel rim as spare so now unless I replace it with an alloy, I cannot rotate it every 10k to maintain even tyre wear among all 5 wheels. No rear speakers in the doors even though the ports are there!!!! Dust ingress is more evident around doors.
Gear box VERY notchy from 1st to 2nd gear, most times crunches. Must make low rev change very smooth and carefully.
I will not speak kindly to others considering a D-Max. Was very happy with 09 model........why did they mess with it?
aesthetics
Poor warranty backup

Just signed up for a new Dmax space cab auto! Wanted a red one, there is one on the boat so need to wait 6/7 weeks. Traded my 2012 Triton which, while being a reliable vehicle, is thirstier than a camel at a waterhole. 11/12 L/100k's sitting on 105KPH on the highway. I am SO looking forward to the fuel savings!!!! Will update as I go.
Taking delivery this coming Monday. Any tips on the running in procedure?
Have the truck for a week now and absolutely love with the exception of considerable wind noise heard in the cab at anything over 80KPH. The trip home from the dealer, 490K's, averaged out to 9.5L/100...

The Triton I just threw away averaged 11/12 on the highway fully run in. Cant get my head around the 5pin miniB socket on the radio. Have bought an adaptor online from the CABLE CHICK for $5.00 if anyone is looking for same. Anyone else experiencing the wind noise prob? Any solutions??? By the way, the sound system sucks. Soon I will read the "bible" to see if there is any tuning solution to the flat sound.Drove 450K's in ideal conditions today sitting on 102/103KPH, 9.1 L/100K's. Have only done 2500K's.I'm hoping very much that figure is going to improve. Going in for 3000K "service" next week. I'm a g...
Read morer8 believer in an early oil change on a brand new engine so am having the oil dropped and replacing it with Nulon full synthetic 5W40. Scheduled oil changes at 20000K's are absurdly ambitious, I will be changing oil at 10000K's. Will be changing diff/transfer case oils to Nulon as well. This truck is going to be pampered!!!My Wife and I purchased a new Dmax high ride 4x4 3ltre td sx crew cab from Sutton's Arncliffe April 2014 we left Newcastle 9/12/2014 Towing a caravan,21foot travelling aussie to date we have travelled 59000 k's and averaged 13.95 litre's every 100 k.In strong head winds our fuel consumption rose to 14.9 litre per 100k's.
One complaint the seats will not suit someone with bad backs, and should be on ones mind if travelling long distance.
The after sales service is great but service availability in towns like Mt Isa be prepared to travel long d...

I have now driven almost 14,000 km in my new D-max Ute. It is comfortable, roomy, powerful and relatively light on fuel. At the first service, the dealership at Sutherland Isuzu was friendly and most professional. I've taken it into some challenging situations in the Vic High Country, where it has proved to be an outstanding performer.

After the death of my Defender decided to buy new. Have always liked the reliability of Isuzu motors. Bought a 2014 LS-M manual dual cab. $15K off list price as it was a 200km demo. What a great ride. Plenty of room in the cabin. Comfortable seats with heaps of leg room. So far I have been impressed with it off road, even with it's so called All Terrain Bridgestone tyres. Towing is a breeze. Towed a 1.2 tonne dual axle trailer 800kms. Hardly knew it was there. It achieves excellent fuel economy with little stress from the engine. Only gripes: key in ignition warning and seat belt warning. Apart from that a solid vehicle. New tyres and a suspension lift and it will be ready for the great off road.

It is now 12 months and more since we paid through the nose to get a decent car from the dealer, at the time we got it, we had not had the need to hook onto a trailer, so l did not notice the ridiculo...
Read moreus way they transferred my existing towbar set up from the old car to the second one, at the time of repurchasing l asked them to transfer everything l had on the old car to the new car... accessories.,..that is... WELL this just ads to the list of stupid things that Black Truck in Toowoomba do!, they put the tow bar assembly soo far underneath the tray that it was impossible to hook up to a trailer and let it down onto the tow ball. l swear these guys are on another planet, on a first service of the new car they replaced a rear bulb - screwing it into the socket on an angle so that it rubbed against the lense and blew out... melting the lense. l ended up going to the guys that provide the back trays for them, in Oakey, they looked at it and said....WELL, we would never have set the tow bar up like that, l know this sounds like a bit of 'buck passing' but they were quite horrified,. l even have an extended tongue and it is still under the tray. On further examination, the guys at Fieldquip told me that - that particular tray had been modified, and was not how they supply them, so l really cannot have anything positive anymore for Black Trucks in Toowoomba, it's like l was 'jinxed' the day l set foot in there.
