Extremely poor tow vehicle due to changed gearing.
I purchased a new Isuzu MU-X August 2020 as a tow vehicle on the recommendation of friends who have slightly older models; most tow much heavier caravans than mine - they say easily in 5th gear.
However, it seems that Isuzu in their wisdom changed the overall gearing of the MY-20 LS-T, so what was a perfectly good tow vehicle has become extremely poor for that purpose.
Previous models were doing 2000 rpm at 100 kph in 5th gear which was around the maximum torque rpm and ideal for towing. The MY20 is only doing 1750 rpm at 100kph in 5th and c...
Read moreonsequently has very little power or torque at that speed. It barely manages to change out of 4th gear, where it is revving, noisy and fuel inefficient. If towing in manual to reduce engine noise, there is a lot of torque converter slip which I'm told will result in overheating the transmission fluid. Due to the high gearing it struggles to maintain 6th gear into any sort of a head wind when not towing - even in manual mode and is a better proposition locked in 5th if into a head wind or on an undulating road. I would suggest to those wanting a decent tow vehicle to look elsewhere than the Isuzu MU-X as this is the most disappointing vehicle I've ever purchased. As a tow vehicle there is very little comparison between the performance of the MU-X and the Holden Colorado I previously owned!Purchased in for $57,000.

I brought brand new isuzu mux with rusty rotor disc and the only answer i got is that is how it is with the cars kept outside the showroom.
Its good on diesel with factory faults the brand new mux i had was sold to me with mis aligned wheels that gave me lots of worries and disappointments
Finally after the 125000 km engine warranty it ended up. Leaking coolant from between cylinder head and engine block.

I bought the ISUZU MU-X over a Prado because of the 5 year warranty. I've had two warranty claims with terrible service/communication from the dealer at Chullora. They have repeatedly lied to me, don't seem to know the vehicle (didn't know where the fuel pump was). They tell me it will be ready, don't answer their phones and then I find out it's not ready when I try to pick it up (this happened 6 times for the one warranty claim).
Now my GPS/stereo is broken. I took it in for a service they said new one was order and they would call me when...
Read more it is ready. After 4 weeks I call them, they forgot to record the serial number needed to order a new one (they had previously told me it was already ordered) and I need to take the car back in for a day so they can remove the unit, then I will need to take it back in a third time when the new unit arrives. They should have called me when they realised that they had stuffed up the first time. They are so hopeless that the guy at the service desk admitted that customers need to chase them as they don't call people back. The 5 year warranty would be great, if you can actually get the vehicle fixed. I've had poor service at a few other ISUZU dealers as well but Heartland at Chullora takes the cake. ISUZU Australia, great vehicle I should be on my second by now, but you need to teach your dealers about customer service. The dealer at Geraldton was fantastic, send him around Australia to your other dealers.- BadgeLS-T

I like the car but am VERY disappointed with the noise from the engine. One friend said it sounds like a B52 Bomber. Another said it sounds like a Tractor. Not exactly the kind of remarks I'd expect from a brand new car. I am actually embarrassed to drive it.

Find out how Isuzu MU-X compares to other Large / 7 Seater SUVs
Know better, choose better.
I recently purchased pearl white isuzu mux and had isuzu bonnet protector installed. Within 100km the bonnet protector had caused $1298.00 damage to the vehicle as it scratched through the paint. I intially thought maybe installation issue until l saw my friends mux which had been damaged even more. There protector had been installed at a different dealer. Know l will end up with a new isuzu mux with a resprayed bonnet.

Watch out for the fuel estimate for distance!!
Distance on remaining fuel 130km. Actual travel distance 90km.
What is really annoying is that the estimated remaining distance cuts out at around 100km and replaced with 'low fuel'. When you see 'low fuel' you have less than 80km.

I've had an issue with my 2015 MUX. The radio turns off and on by itself and the screen is bland although when it turns back on the Isuzu logo appears. It is stuck on one channel and the only function that works if the volume. I am presume the SD card is faulty?
I suddenly can,t seem to turn off my MUX LST 22 accessories...tried everything...it says put into P and push button...but it just keeps going into and out of start without foot on brake...help...it also won,t stay locked . so anybody can open the door
Hi,
We get our new 2022 MU-X LST 4 x 4 in August.
We bought the vehicle to be our tow vehicle for our caravan.
Our caravan (Essential C Class Tourer) comes with a camera on the back of it and with a Safety Dave, SD-0109 Rear view LCD monitor for inside the car. Needs to be hard wired.
We know that in the past there was a module you could get installed to have the caravan camera connect to your MU-X screen inside the car.
So my questions are:
1. Can you plug in like normal with your caravan plug to the car and automatically connect with the screen inside the car from the camera on the caravan?
2. If you cant do 1, can you fit a module that will allow you to do this?
3. Has anyone done this to their MU-X LST 2022 model?
3. If you have what parts did you need and do you have photos please?
Appreciate what ever feedback you can give me.
Cheers, John.
