Japan Rail Pass is Fabulous and worth it
Was easy to purchase and delivered quickly even in the pre Christmas mail madness.
We have been using the Pass throughout Japan for the Shinkansen and local JR Lines especially around Tokyo and Osaka cities. When we compared the cost of purchasing individual tickets to the JR Pass is was clear that purchasing the pass would be the best value. Then when adding the local JR Line use in the cities that has been a bonus.
Using the JR Pass in Japan is easy. The train stations clearly show where you need to go to quickly show the pass as passing through the gate. Also exchanging the voucher for the pass at KIX airport was a breeze.
If you plan on utilising the super efficient transport system in Japan the JR Pass is worth it.
Very convenient and terrific value for money. Trains super comfortable, especially green carriages which are recommended if taking longer journeys. Important to reserve seats. Timetables efficient and alway clean well serviced.
JR Rail Pass makes the guest feel very welcome.
Everywhere we travelled we were greeted by helpful and courteous staf. Your information during travel was excellent. Well done. The world can learn a great deal from your responsive, respectful and caring culture
Definitely worth the money!
Purchase and delivery of the Rail Pass were trouble free.
The rail pass is very handy to have if you plan to travel to a few different places whilst in Japan.
I usually check prices of train fares on Hyperdia before I travel to see what is the cheapest option (Rail Pass or Pay as you go).
JR run train services just about everywhere. There may be the odd time where you need to pay for a subway ticket but it still ends up being cost effective to have the pass.
No issues encountered
We experienced no issues and the service was fantastic.
Only suggestion is that make it better known that the rail pass can be used for travel to Narita airport on the express train.
Otherwise a great product and very well done.
Super useful, if a bit old fashioned
If you plan to move around the country, it is invaluable. The shinkansens are brilliant. If you are intending to just stay in one major city, it may still be useful, but be careful to check first if the JR lines run near where you will be staying. There are areas in Tokyo for instance where the nearest JR line is a 30 minute walk.
Also, JR passes are paper, and the vast majority of ticket gates are electronic. This means you can't use the automatic gates, but need to use the human attended gate at every location. Some stations set up a seco...nd well signed gate for JR pass holders in a effort to relieve the congestion, but not all. It seems weird and a little annoying that for a country with such a sophisticated electronic public transport system that these passes have not been modernised. Also if you lose or destroy your paper (actually cardboard) pass, it cannot be replaced.
Don’t travel without one!
We just spent 12 days in Japan, travelling from Shinjuku to Hakuba, back to Tokyo then Kyoto and Osaka and lots of day trips in between thanks to the JR Pass. The staff were also very helpful and trains on time and clean.
Money well spent
There is nothing I can find with the service that disappointed me. The trains were easy to use. They were clean and they were on time. A very effective way to travel around.
Great value and such an efficient system
Japan rail pass was so worthwhile for us.
Only criticism was the paper based system, would be better if the pass itself could be issued electronically eg a QR code like an electronic boarding pass
Great way to get around Japan when travelling to different areas
The pass covers a lot of areas outside Tokyo and saves you money if you are travelling around to different parts of Japan. We covered the snow monkeys in Nagano, back to Tokyo, then to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Fukuoka and back to Tokyo. It was well worth it and easy to use, just show your pass at the gates to staff. Easy to cash in voucher at the airport for the passes then on our way.
Planning your trip can lead to maximum value but even if you are not completely organised it is still good value. Apart from the value Japan Rail is easy to use with helpful information and ticket offices. I was concerned that it would be difficult. How wrong I was.
We purchased JR pass from overseas to be used when travelling in Japan. Easy to purchase and travel between Kyoto, Tokyo and Nozawa Onsen. The tickets were posted to my hotel address in Japan on time. When my iPhone was lost on the train between Nazawa Onsen and Tokyo it was recovered and posted to my hotel efficiently.
Very worth the value if you travel more than 2 cities or a return trip between Tokyo and Osaka
Very easy ordering process, and was delivered quickly even during Christmas period.
We used JR-Pass for a Shinkansen return trips between Tokyo and Osaka, express train lines between Osaka and Kyoto, and some JR lines in Tokyo and Osaka. Really worth the money.
Easy ordering process. Easy activating process and easy to use. No hiccups is using at any station.
We used it on trains, buses and ferries.Great value. Will get one for our next trip to Japan
Convenient and great value
We found the process of using JRPASS was much simpler and easier than Eurail pass. We saved time and money. No extra paperwork required. We used JRPASS to travel between Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima and Nozawa.
Good pricing, superfast turnaround, easy to apply, very informative. Ideal!
Takes the pain out of JR Pass application with a one-stop application and payment process, good information on how it works and what to do to collect on arrival and a very fast mail service to get your paperwork to you as soon as possible. Highly recommended.
A wonderful purchase and a matchless train experience
The Japanese rail pass (green pass, so we could reserve tickets) was almost the best thing about visiting Japan. It makes travel incredibly easy; the trains are ALWAYS on time, clean and well-appointed. Fantastic value and a fantastic experience!
JRPass is fantastic and great saving
Recently in Japan and enjoyed every moment there. It’s been great saving for us with JR Pass and would recommend to travelers who plan to visit different places in Japan.
This is a must!!
The JR pass proved essential for our recent Japan adventure. It turned out to be brilliant value for money as we used it far more extensively than we expected. It was super easy and the JR rail system is fast and efficient. Don’t even consider exploring Japan without a JR pass. It’s a must.
Fantastic, made getting around so easy!
We travelled to Madarao, Hiroshima, Kyoto and Tokyo. You don’t have to worry about purchasing tickets every stop, so convenient to get around. Well worth it if you compare all individual fare costs.
Very efficient and easy to use
The Japan rail pass is an excellent way to navigate around Japan and covers a large area of the country. It also covered many city trains, not just country trains. The trains are clean, warm and comfortable.
We need this amazing service in our country!
Just so easy! Fast and hassle free once you know where to go. Clean and seats are very comfortable. Thank you so much for making our honeymoon so very memorable!
Ideal for family of four
JR Pass got us between Nagoya, Kyoto, Nara, Miyajima Island, Hiroshima, Sendai and Tokyo. Exchange process of voucher at JR Nagoya Station office was seamless, and bookings were easy, even over the busy New Year period.
Excellent and efficient service
Trains are on time and very orderly. Impressed by cleanliness of the train and comfortable seats. Good signage and information. There is also availability of snacks and foods which is good.
Fast, Easy, Useful and Savings...
Arrived quickly in the mail. Clear instructions of how to exchange for your ticket at a JR outlet in Japan and wow so useful when travelling through Japan. Savings - especially when using the bullet trains.
