Little support & unresolvable issues.
We have had this device for about six months & it comes with no written instructions. On-line support does not exist except for JBL support contact. All the help option does is open glowing reports without any actual help! A Google search only finds the same reports but no actual help. JBL have marketed a product that they believe needs no actual instructions, I can testify that it does!
I am VERY competent with such technology but after spending significant time on this I ended up putting it aside for several months. The Google home (phone ap...p) was just too difficult & poorly written. The app also wants to associate non supported devices which cannot be removed (Smart TV). When I did decide to try to nut it out again I did get it to function on routines (difficult even for a seasoned expert). The average Joe Blow could never work it out so the device does very little without significant settings being changed. The major issue for me is the issue that the "ambient" mode does NOT work in a room that is not brightly lit, so the set ambient preferences are ignored & the screen reverts in a dimly lit environment to a VERY dull (unreadable) digital clock display. No settings can correct this, not even brightness settings so it ALWAYS reverts back to an unreadable clock. I contacted JBL support maybe five times, firstly they could not understand the problem & ultimately told me to return it to the retailor, the fact was they had not a clue!!! I believe it is a design issue not a faulty unit but they did NOT know.
Purchased in December 2018 for $180.00.
