It works, but is not sustainable
What is attractive with Jenny Craig is that you are given portions of food so you don’t have the hard work of counting calories - and you have accountability with your Coach. Also, the portioning also help you to learn what a correct amount of food is. But that’s where the benefits end. The frozen and pre packaged food is generally unhealthy and highly processed. It’s probably an improvement for some people but prior to starting Jenny Craig, my diet was extremely healthy (I just ate too much!) so it makes me feel bad that I’m not treating my bo...dy better by ingesting so many additives and over processed foods. Also, they provide no options for dairy intolerant or vegan, which is pretty behind the times. I don’t know if they do gluten free but I’d be surprised. Finally, the packaging is awful environmentally! I’m recycling everything but it’s over the top!
Not for the long run but worth a try.
Food was nice and tasty the first week although very little meat! After a week I felt a bit sick.
Preservatives outweighed the nutrition.
Under 15 grams of meat remained after straining sauce in a lunch menu (as example Subway serve 85g meat)
As a former chef, and a food scientist student, I Definitely can lose weight on this program because of the “Lack Of Food”; Not because the food is substantially healthy.
The egg ham muffin was floury substance in egg.
My consultant agreed that she too cannot stomach Jenny Craig food consumption.
Expensive and Misleading
Joined Jenny craig about a month ago and have lost weight so thumbs up for that BUT when i joined i was advised the "FREE 8 week membership" was not free as there was no discount applied so to become a member was financially more viable as i got a 10% discount on food (MISLEADING !!) I did bec ome a member and was quite happy but as soon as I short ordered (because i had not eaten a day's food as i was on holidays) i lost the 10% discount MISLEADING AGAIN !! apparently the 10% discount only applies if you order the complete package every day an...d do not miss anything. MISLEADING AGAIN. i would have been better off with the 8 week membership. VERY EXPENSIVE considering i still have to provide all dairy, fruit, vegetables etc. Also feel like i was rushed through the meeting with my consultant - never took more than 5 minutes.
Lack of consultant contact
Thought my consultant would be keeping in touch with me each week.. as I am doing deliveries and can only get to the centre once a month.. I am a new member so need a bit of help
Great for weight loss
Doing the Jenny program was hard to stick to and took me 2 years but I lost approx 20 kgs. Unfortunately trying to maintain the weight loss and soon falling back into past bad habits saw me put back the 20 and then some. The team at Ringwood were very supportive but the cost of doing the program and the effort of constantly watching my waistline became too hard and costly also I got sick of the same food I just couldn't palate any longer. Not enough variety and frequently enough. Got sick of pastas and rice dishes and too much pre packaged food.... Great for weight loss however I had to still work hard in the gym. Staff were wonderful, supportive and kind but I felt harassed when I could no longer continue the program due to not being able to afford $180 a week on the program plus then I also had to by groceries + milk, yoghurt, veg and fruit not supplied by Jenny Craig. So I was spending $280 a week for just one person on food and groceries and household items. Ok for first timers who want to lose maybe 10kgs but not a long term solution to managing weight loss unfortunately.
It's not great
Always hungry. Expensive (approx $150-$160 wk). Portions are so small because you are expected to add vegetables to pad it out at your cost. Giving it up at my next appointment.
Usually OK but this time not at all impressed!
I was going to write about the "Bangers and Mash". I was very disappointed that they were taken from the menu and thrilled when they were returned. However, the 'Bangers and Mash" that have been returned to the menu are very disappointing - very thin sausages and hard at the ends as opposed to the thick, tasty sausages of the original.
This, however, pales into insignificance after I had tried to eat my "Banana Bread" this week. It was gritty!! How can that happen? What was in there to make this product - which is usually fine - gritty and inedible as a result. Not good enough, Jenny Craig, on both counts.
Too expensive for me
The staff are amazing, so respecful and helpful. Joined during a special, free consultation and $25 off food, Bill comes to $150 for food and this did not include any fruit, veges or milk. Went for 5 weeks and the 6th week was $167, not including fruit veges or milk. Had to leave there as I just couldn't justify the cost. Lost 5 kilos with Jenny but have lost another 7 on my own, with a weightloss app, was good motivation in the beginning but too much money, Food ok, some things really enjoyable.
Expensive and quality of food is poor.
I was determined to make a change when I joined Jenny Craig a year or so ago, so ignored the red flags. I lost weight over 6 months, however you pay approx $150 for the food, before you do grocery shopping for your fresh fruit and vegatables. The food delivered is not worth $150. You pay that for lite n easy and their food is of much higher quality and includes everything, but coffee, milk etc. The first week I got a lamb dish full of gelatious fat, I mentioned it to my consultant, who said, unless more people complain not much can be done. Fur...ther on in the programme, I recieved a week of free food from Jenny Craig (thanks) because I showed proof of all the gristle in the mince meat for one meal. The consultants are nice enough, but most are just going through the motions. Whilst I was on it I paid for a 5 year membership I will never use. What prompted me to write this after all this time though? I am sick of seeing Mel B endorsing this. There is NO way she would be eating this poor quality food! It is false advertising! Worst food I have eaten, makes me feel nauseated thinking about it.
An expensive quick fix
If relying on Jenny Craig food only it does not fill you up. It is the other foods e.g. veges. Yoghurt etc you have to buy in addition to J.C. food that fills you up.
I was able to follow program but very expensive and is not a long term solution to weight loss.
