It works, but is not sustainable
What is attractive with Jenny Craig is that you are given portions of food so you don’t have the hard work of counting calories - and you have accountability with your Coach. Also, the portioning also help you to learn what a correct amount of food is. But that’s where the benefits end. The frozen and pre packaged food is generally unhealthy and highly processed. It’s probably an improvement for some people but prior to starting Jenny Craig, my diet was extremely healthy (I just ate too much!) so it makes me feel bad that I’m not treating my bo...dy better by ingesting so many additives and over processed foods. Also, they provide no options for dairy intolerant or vegan, which is pretty behind the times. I don’t know if they do gluten free but I’d be surprised. Finally, the packaging is awful environmentally! I’m recycling everything but it’s over the top!
Not for the long run but worth a try.
Food was nice and tasty the first week although very little meat! After a week I felt a bit sick.
Preservatives outweighed the nutrition.
Under 15 grams of meat remained after straining sauce in a lunch menu (as example Subway serve 85g meat)
As a former chef, and a food scientist student, I Definitely can lose weight on this program because of the “Lack Of Food”; Not because the food is substantially healthy.
The egg ham muffin was floury substance in egg.
My consultant agreed that she too cannot stomach Jenny Craig food consumption.
Lack of consultant contact
Thought my consultant would be keeping in touch with me each week.. as I am doing deliveries and can only get to the centre once a month.. I am a new member so need a bit of help
Great for weight loss
Doing the Jenny program was hard to stick to and took me 2 years but I lost approx 20 kgs. Unfortunately trying to maintain the weight loss and soon falling back into past bad habits saw me put back the 20 and then some. The team at Ringwood were very supportive but the cost of doing the program and the effort of constantly watching my waistline became too hard and costly also I got sick of the same food I just couldn't palate any longer. Not enough variety and frequently enough. Got sick of pastas and rice dishes and too much pre packaged food.... Great for weight loss however I had to still work hard in the gym. Staff were wonderful, supportive and kind but I felt harassed when I could no longer continue the program due to not being able to afford $180 a week on the program plus then I also had to by groceries + milk, yoghurt, veg and fruit not supplied by Jenny Craig. So I was spending $280 a week for just one person on food and groceries and household items. Ok for first timers who want to lose maybe 10kgs but not a long term solution to managing weight loss unfortunately.
Usually OK but this time not at all impressed!
I was going to write about the "Bangers and Mash". I was very disappointed that they were taken from the menu and thrilled when they were returned. However, the 'Bangers and Mash" that have been returned to the menu are very disappointing - very thin sausages and hard at the ends as opposed to the thick, tasty sausages of the original.
This, however, pales into insignificance after I had tried to eat my "Banana Bread" this week. It was gritty!! How can that happen? What was in there to make this product - which is usually fine - gritty and inedible as a result. Not good enough, Jenny Craig, on both counts.
An expensive quick fix
If relying on Jenny Craig food only it does not fill you up. It is the other foods e.g. veges. Yoghurt etc you have to buy in addition to J.C. food that fills you up.
I was able to follow program but very expensive and is not a long term solution to weight loss.
Food with seasonal
Some of the food is a bit bland and tasteless.
Bring back the chicken pasta salad and more salad dishes that you can get out of the fridge and straight on the plate.
Here's an IDEA!
I'm a lifetime member, used JC 4 times in about 20 years- each time it's set me off fabulous to weight loss. It just REBOOTS your metabolism and shrinks your tummy to small meals. I normally did about 4-5 weeks and every time it worked like a charm. I think their whole thing should start to become food boot camp for some - 4 week program and let's follow you through ( top up your cupboards occasionally). I think it's a whole market of women who need a good friend - the consultants are there anyway JC - sort of a weight watcher (I've never done) programme - health club style but nutritional fitness gym?! I think it would just jam right into women's market!! Tc
I have been on Jenny Craig several times. This time a consultant actually phoned me and said they had a deal going $30.00 off food for 5 weeks so I decided to give it another go however after 3 weeks I was told they made a mistake and miscalculated the weeks .( Not happy,) with just an apology and said they couldn't do anything but give me a couple of free meals .I feel there is a principal involved here and I should have been given the 2 weeks $30.00 discount I was promised.
Also I think it is very expensive especially when the bulk of the choices are pasta dishes and after 4 weeks don't want to look at pasta again.
I signed up to the 5 year plan after trying multiple different weight loss programs. I initially thought that it would be a great program because I’d have a 1 on 1 consultant every week and have the help to educate me more about what I should and shouldn’t be doing, what’s good for me and what’s not. Well...
My consultant was lovely, however...
- the food gets repetitive and boring when you’re on the program for so long.
- There are a lot of carbs in the menu.
- the food is expensive. Approx $160 every week then you have to buy fruit and vegetables, eggs, yoghurt etc... on top of that. If you have a family then obviously your grocery bill will be a lot higher than that each week.
I continue with it because it works, not because I enjoy it
FOOD- I've found that Jenny Craig is one of the only things I actually stick to, and I've found it works. This is my second time in trying it, and I will say the food is nowhere near as good as 3 years ago. In saying that, the fact that the food is all ready for me and I don't have to prepare anything, it makes my life a lot easier.
CONSULTANTS- I do not like them at all. I've been to the same centre both times and this time I have stopped the consultants all together because they did more harm than good. As I'm only on a $12 for 12kg, they...don't care about me. They won't answer some questions as I'm only doing 'the trial'. They make me feel terrible if I don't have a big loss and just go through the motions with their questions. I loathe them. And it's the same centre in Melbourne. I've heard others are good, so maybe it's just this one particular centre. COST- It's expensive, really expensive. So unless you save particularly for this, I see it difficult to do long term. You are looking at about $170 if you do it full time.
JUST OK !!
I have been on this program several times now which says something. I go to the Darwin branch. I have never been
shown any plan that gets you to start cooking at home. Once you go of the program bad habits creep back in and the program at roughly $170 a week PLUS all your fruit, veg, dairy products, eggs is too expensive to sustain.
The customer service is shocking. If there are not enough customers the centre does not open (Fridays) which is disappointing as that is the day I planned to pick my food up. You are always rushed and told how sho...

Most of your reviews are negative. I must be so naive to continue paying for your service. Unless you come up with a good reason for all this reviews. Especially for a male in the early thirties.
vegetarian menu not great
I was on a vegetarian program, although I did loose weight and the food was ok, I think the vegetarian menu isn't very well planned and doesn't have much variety, almost every evening meal was a pasta dish and after 4 weeks of the same meals I was really sick of the food.
Why so much junk food and sugar?
I have only just started (now at day 5). I am doing this because I want to lose 10 kilos. I am not obese. We eat very healthily, the only problem is that we eat too much (healthy) food, and, I love the too occasional sav-blanc.
I do have a problem with the composition of the plan. In real life, I dont eat sugary breakfast cerals, salty / sugary snacks between meals and sugary desserts. Yet here, I cant escape them. They may be smal portions but they are still junk foods. I was talking to my consultant today with a view to eliminating the junk...

I want to know if my lifetime membership is still honored. How should I proceed?
Sharon Fry Pasic email@example.com
Hi Sharon, we have replied to you via email - please let us know if you need anything else!
Just contacted your customer service to verify my Lifetime membership I bought for myself and my mother in 2004. He stated, JC stopped selling lifetime memberships in 2002, therefore I could not be a lifetime member. Also stated the computers have since been updated and not everything has been updated and that his “Supervisor” was going by the year I purchased the Lifetime membership, not what was noted, as nothing was noted on my profile. Please explain?
We would be happy to look into this again for you to double-check your membership verification. Please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org with your full name, the centre that you joined the program with, and the approximate year, as well as the centre that you last attended with the approximate year. Thank you
