Like others below, I applied for the card, jumped through the hoops to my amazement I got rejected also, this was a personal insult, my credit rating is great, pay all my bills, have a tiny mortgage and earn enough, so What . Frustrated by this I called the number on the letter and went through the steps (Macquarie Bank call centre in India which adds salt to the injury) and they reconfirmed I didn't meet their criteria. Asking what is the criteria to help me with the process and was told this is confidential information that cant be released then was advised to reapply in six months time, but my situation wouldn't be any different, guess I'll try Qantas card!
Issues of trust with Macquarie Bank and the Jetstar Mastercard
I applied for a Jetstar Mastercard, which was approved as a Platinum card. Two days later they limited the account claiming there were fraudulent aspects. Nothing was out of order with this card or my application. Finally the card was reinstated for use when they conceded I was who I said I was.
We were happily using the card when we noticed that without warning the credit limit was reduced by around $2000. We had no prior communication to advise of this limit reduction.
Because of the rewards points this was going to be our main card. ...
Why even advertise it
I have a fairly decent salary, always pay my bills on time as well as above and beyond.
Only a very small car loan remaining and I got knocked back.
Only a $4,000 card I applied for, for the points.
When I asked for the reasons they said they can't release how they make the decision because they don't want their competitors to know how they calculate it.

Applied exactly one month ago. A doctor with excellent credit rating. Uploaded 2 payslips as requested. Heard nothing and had to call them. Ohhhh sorry to let you know now but your payslips aren't actually payslips. What??? Can you send us your tax returns 2014,2015 please. Don't have my 2015 one yet but will send you the 2014 and the group certificate for 2015. Safely uploaded. Still no word from them after another 2 weeks, I call the 1300 number again. sorry we tried to call you (no you didn't) but your tax return and group certificate isn't ...good enough. We need the ATO notice of assessment for 2014 and 2015 please. Also perhaps we can talk to your accountant. Of course you can if you can pay for the call yourself. that's when I lost it....keep your card. Lots more out there. Thanks for nothing. What time wasters!!!
Application for a credit card
I have applied for a Jetstar Platinum them the drama started. First a series of documents , fine all send, them pay slip, all send, them they call my employee all done, them they call me again saying they need to talk to my employee " which was already done", apologies sir , them they done again, 1 month after and a series of complain they finally send me a normal mastercard.. what a joke if i want a normal card i would have asked for one.. Speaking to a lawyer i found out is illegal you order a product and they send something else.. Oh well took me a hour to cancel the card that i didn't want..Thank you jetstar cardserve for the worst and most useless experience ever.
After receiving an offer of credit limit increase, I've applied for it, submitted all the documents and waited... Since nothing happened in about three weeks, I called them, apparently my payslip was not visible enough. No mail or warning from Jetstar about that... I sent the payslip again, they called me back after a week and put me through the series of questions about my financial situation. I thought that was it, but I was wrong, I get another call ten days later with the same series of questions once again about my financials. After that, ...another 14 days of silence and when I called, they said, that my payslip or income couldn't be verified.No mail or call from them again... I had to chase it again... I work for Australian government and if official payslip is not enough to prove my income I don't know what the Jetstar team wants me to do! After about six weeks, I told them to cancel altogether... Why are you sending offers, if you can't handle them professionally? After 5 or 6 phone calls, losing at least 10 minutes each time and me chasing your offer, thank you very much! You are a great team of ignorant time wasters! There's plenty of competition on the market and if I need this credit limit increase, you'll be the last on my list to call! Congratulations!!!
The worst customer service out there
A few days after applying for a Jetstar credit card I received an email asking for a payslip, which I sent immediately. After a few days of hearing nothing I called to confirm they had received it (they had). A week later still no news, called them back (of course its an overseas call centre) they stated "oh our approval area called you to ask the source of your other income and got voice mail". They didn't leave a message though!. Called again today (now two weeks since applying) same story - "oh we had a question and got voicemail" no message...left again. Useless JetStar don't give a damn, complain to them and they just say "oh its provided by Macquaire" what they forget is that the rubbish service from Macquirie reflects on the JetStar name
One of the worst
I would never recommend a Jetstar MasterCard to anyone. It is one of the worst, if not THE worst. My observation in using it for balance transfers is the money is immediately debited to the card yet takes up to a week before the request is processed whereby you pay double interest. My recent frustration is the card was officially cancelled yet today I have been debited an annual fee. Dishonest practices.
Lose your card and you lose all your transaction history
I reported my card lost and so it was cancelled - as you would expect
But when Jetstar cancels the card they take away all access to statements and transaction history on the www. As their default position re statements is for the customer to pick them up online. So when they delete all your transaction history you are in the dark. Regular automatic payments cant be tracked back and all sorts of info that you want can't be accessed.
This is typical of this card which I hate. I only use it because of the exorbitant credit card fees Jetstar c...harge for air travel charged to any other credit card. The PIN on my card has never worked since I got it ages ago. Fortunately the August deadline might force them to sort it out The lose of all transaction history is appalling. The fee saving when I travel on Jetstar flights Clunky, no PIN, lost transaction history, slow replacement card etc etc
I applied for this card a few weeks ago, thinking it would be a nice and easy way to get some Jetstar flight credit. Anywho, I called today to see what is wrong because it's been 10 working days. I spoke to [name removed], who kept putting me on hold (about 5 times each), and the end of the first call was just that she would 'follow up'. I then found this website, and looking at the reviews I chose to bail. Peace

In late 2012 (IIRC) Qantas sponsored a Visa card from HSBC with 20,000 points which I applied for and with minimal fuss I had the card and my pin number within a month.
A bit later Qantas put an ad for the jet* m/card on its web site in July (or thereabouts) 2013 saying that it would get one 30,000 frequent flyer points. This sucked me in but I also thought a second, low limit card would come in handy to limit my losses in online transactions etc.
After hearing nothing for two months the process started and went on and on with people ring...ing me up to ask for doc but having no email to which I could send scanned documents making me wonder what on earth was going on. Then about the 11th of November my card arrived, having been preceded by a jetstar/cards logon-id and initial password, but no pin except for an invitation to contact them in a week if it didn't arrive. Of course it never turned up. They said I had to use it on an eligible purchase within a short period to get 15,000 points. What about the other 15,000 then I asked? Oh you have to spend another $5000 on eligible purchases on the card by the end of November. That was the first I'd heard about that and I can't help but feel they, in contrast to HSBC, had dragged the process out so long so as to make it virtually impossible to get that second 15,000 points. I put that to them and the response was there had been a very large uptake of the offer which swamped them but I was and still am dubious about that as HSBC would have had the same uptake (if not more, coming first) and it went through like clockwork. Anyway not getting the pin I thought OK I'll use it to pay my utility bills using jetstar banking to at least get the first 15,000. Three months afterwards I caslled them to ask what had happened with those points. Oh they said, they weren't eligible purchases. So I cancelled the card immediately. Incompetence probably but a con can't be ruled out. If I had known that the Macquarie Bank was behind the whole shambles I wouldn't have touched it with a 40ft barge pole. Cancelling

Hard to Contact. Hard to deal with, Cant change my info so my card was cancelled but now i am told I owe them money. Still cant contact to sort out. How dumb are these people. Find out if the person you are talking to is AUSTRALIAN, ASK FOR AUSTRALIAN

Late Payment Fees After payments are received
I have received a number of late payment fees AFTER I have made payments. I have proof. The call centre operators are robotic, follow long-winded scrips for which they will not be diverted and are completely unhelpful. I also earned 100points and had them disappear a few weeks later. Unconscionable.
Unfair fees. Poor service. Problemtic BPAY funds transfer.
I paid my balance before the due date and paid the extra over the counter two dollar fee then I receive another bill for another six dollars and have to pay another over the counter fee this card is just a sham. You can never speak to anyone in australia, lousy customer service.

I should have read all the reviews first. Don't waste your time with these people. I wasted nearly 3 months and that was only with the on line application only to find out they are totally incompetent. Could not seem to contact anyone in Australia. Do your research online and then go elsewhere!
Avoid at all Cost
This company cant accept notification that the card account is no longer required even though written advice in accordance with their terms and conditions was given.They have contacted me once before to keep it open and now have resorted to phone calls at 10:15pm at night to try and discuss.Completely unacceptable behaviour and unethical waking household members that are asleep for early starts for work.

Horrible experience - Jetstar Platinum Card
Applied for the card during a $0 annual fees promotion in Oct 2012 and waited 3 months for the cards to arrive. Shocked to find annual fees charge on my first statement. Rang customer service and was reassured by CS rep, Mr JD on 14 Feb 2013 that the annual fees will be waived and credited in my next statement.
On Sunday 24 Feb 2013, another customer service rep informed me that annual fees will be levied on my account. I find it confusing and frustrating over the contradictory replies from Jetstar customer service. Decide to cut my card an...d close my account. Agree with the comments posted on the review. Sad to say, poor customer service end up with another unhappy customer. 0$ annual fees for 1st year promotion ends up having to pay card annual fee.
Macquarie run a worse card service than Jetstar do an airline!
Got suckered in by the points offer, thinking this would be smooth, I should have remembered past experience with other affinity cards.
Nothing but problems since day one, the support staff are useless, they say something will happen it doesn't then you call up and start the cycle again. Can't reset passwords for their website access, but you need it else you pay $7+ for statements.

Horrible experience. Their customer service is terrible. Too hard to deal with them. We've close the account in August and they haven't closed the account and keep sending bills. This is even after calling up so many times. But they really don't get it.
There are so many credit cards out there. Don't get Jetstar, just keep away from them.

Don't be fooled into their balance transfer offers, get $100 credit on flights offers!
For a start if you purchase anything on the card after transferring your balance from another card, it will never get paid off and interest will accrue on them!
All money paid will go firstly to balance transfer, and I mean all money. Not one cent will go towards your current purchases. Imagine the interest they will get from this little trick.

HIDDEN COSTS OF CARD,
I took out a Jetstar Mastercard and did a little balance transfer - pretty simple operation. Started using the card only to have it blocked after two months of use.
The block wouldn't be lifted until I paid out to the level prior to the balance transfer - handy for a bank that doesn't want customers to be sitting on that low balance transfer rate!!
In the meantime, you speak to some folk there with pretty difficult to understand accents. not sure if it is off-shored or not, but they were most unhelpful.

Do not use this card.
This is by far the worst credit card I have delt with. Firstly do not use this card to put holds on hotel rooms etc, because well after you have paid and left the hotel even weeks latter the amount has not been returned to your account. This was not the fault of the hotel but Jetstar themselves who admit that the system tries to pay for accounts that do not exist and they will keep trying to pay it no matter how many times the hotel refuses to accept the balance transfer. Secondly when making a payment on the card I dont know where the money go...es but it takes upto six days to appear on your card to reduce the interest payments. Thirdly I have never delt with a overseas call centre so poor in communication and the ability to resolve simple questions. Really they are so bad that you can ask a question and they will provide a response to something you didnt ask. Fourthly, I lost count of the times the card was rejected by merchants, of course every time Jetstar stated that all the merchants were at fault. I cant go on any more, I could but the trauma of even thinking about the call centre experiences is giving me flashbacks. Poor customer service, Overseas call centre well below standard.

I have had to reset password numerous times and each time myself and my wife are treated disrespectfully it is impossible to access account to pay.
My wife has authority to operate on account and this is still not
able to access - even if they confirm it is there!!
I am so sick of ringing them to reset my password so i can access online to pay - very poor site and very difficult company to work with

Unlike every other card I've ever had, this one does not have any way to download your transaction history. You can get a PDF file of the month statement, but no CSV file or Excel file to be able to do anything with your transaction information.
On top of that, it tooks weeks to receive my card, and service is really bad.
Jetstar clearly don't care much about this part of their business. Maybe they prefer people not to have one, so they can charge them the ridiculous card fees when they book flights with a non-Jetstar card.
