BEAUTIFUL SUBWAY TILES FOR OUR KITCHEN AND LAUNDRY
Having decided to go the "full Joanna" (for those who watch "Fixer Upper") I started to source bevelled subway tile in white for my laundry. All the big Tile stores, those that appear on The Block, etc, just stared at me blankly. Then I found Volare Tiles and Services in North Canberra - they obligingly ordered a measly 4 metres of white Johnson subway tile, bevelled. I have since ordered considerably more and put them on my kitchen walls as well. A house over 100 years old NEEDS subway.
No tile has cracked, all were in perfect condition in...the box in spite of the tender mercies of several truckies, and Volare ordered me one box of a matching black tile to use as trim. The big players all have minimum amounts you can order, and a very restricted range. Being a DIY tiler, I rely heavily on each tile being exactly the same size as the others. Johnson didn't disappoint, they are perfect. I would go back to Volare and Johnson in a heartbeat. Staff are routinely friendly, efficient and helpful, and the Johnson tiles are perfect.
Sneaky sales people, watch out!
I bought a small 10-pack of 9cm tiles to mosaic a table. I got home and discovered they weren't exactly the same pattern as the other two I had at home. That is, I purchased Waringa Tomato 613821 instead of Waringa Tomato 613820. The mosaic is only half complete. I needed to exchange the ten tiles for the correct ones (and purchase an additional ten) but the man said it was not possible. He said he thought they might be on sale and exchange is not given in that case. But he had to consult the computer to check that. The point is, the tiles were...in their regular shelves - not the clearance section - and there was no signage at all to suggest they were a sale item. Indeed, the receipt itself states that it has a returns policy that "must be made within 28 days of purchase date and a 15% charge will apply". So you see why I feel disgusted with this money grabbing, sneaky company who willy nilly claim items to be "sale items". I, of course, now have to find another tile company in order to completed the mosaic. Not only that, but I also have 10 tiles that don't match and therefore, can't use. I am so angry. Sneaky people, inflexible, money grabbing
