Bad manufacturing quality
Bought this from bunnings, as soon open the box to start to assemble found the base was incomplete as did not had the wheel nut side included in the manufacture process. Contacted customer service and in one week had a replacement, unfortunately base was hit during transport and was until all the bubble wrap removed that saw the corner hit and is the front side. Quality is very low as when assembling parts are bended as the steel sheet is thin and the solders are tinny. After finishing unpacking box in our second attemp to finish assembly found...that we had missing the flame tammers, contacted customer service twice without luck. So now we have a new bbq with bended base, front doors missaligned due to low production quality control, no flame tammers. Very dissapointed as our jumbuck 4 burner was much better build and parts quality. Maybe next time will go for other brand. Also 2 of the knobs do not light up, have not tried new batteries as they are A27 and dont have. Dont get fooled that is a big 6 burner as dont think will last. Reluctand to order flame tamers that should have come in box!
Body started rusting after a few months despite being covered and under cover
The bbq cooks well, however moving it out to use is a pain as it only has 2 caster wheels that steer. It also started developing rust in random spots around the body which i will now have to treat on a regular basis. The drip tray does not working very well either, some how the oil is running down other channels in the chassis and missing the shallow drip tray all together. Having said this i got it at a bargain price, so when i'm ready to splash out a bit more I will replace with a better brand after doing my research.
Purchased in April 2019.
Excellent value. All stainless steel 6 burner wok plus
Great value huge 6 burner and side burner. Easy assembly with one type of screw and ok manual. Mine came with 3 front doors and missing a side panel which was sorted by Bunnings quick.
Works well with good ignition and illuminated knobs. Good long bbq with 2 grill plates and one flat that has two interchangeable sides if you like grill marks. Temp dial and glass viewing and great esp to avoid dropping heat.
Two wheels lock and also rotate as castors and two are fixed. Solid. Not plastic that will break.
My only gripe. I purchased the Jumbuck...rotisseree kit and it isnt compatible!!!!! For any jumbuck bbqs..yeah. Returned and showed bunnings why and the side slots on bbqs dont fit the kit and the bush for smooth rotation. At all. Bbq galore stocked a generic which i modified for bolt holes and its ok. Watch that as i wasted 2 hrs on this. Generic bbq buddy cover fits well too.
I read all the reviews before purchasing this beast and it has so far lived up to expectation. The packaged box is over 50kg so you will need at least 2 people to bring it home. Assembling was easy enough, one step of the instructions wasn't quite right but you can figure it out. The dreaded label people were complaining about has been removed from the lid. It cooks very well and you should definitely pay a little extra and get the stainless steel option (in the Comet). Excellent value for money!
Very pleased with this lovely barbie.
Very pleased with this lovely barbie.I had my doubts when I was assembling it because it seemed extremely flimsy when dis-assembled but it strong when all the parts are put together. The first time I fired it up I thought I must have fluked it and cooked the perfect tender steak but it kept happening! I soon realised it just the barbie is very well designed and does this every time. I would recommend this to anyone that will listen!
Good looking, great performing large BBQ at an affordable price
* It's a large 6-burner BBQ with hood, side burner and stand for about $400. Why would you spend any more?
* Stainless steel hood, sides and cabinet. Not the thickest sheet steel I've seen but should at least weather and stay looking good longer than the silver-painted unit this BBQ has replaced.
* Wheels and other hardware seem to be of appropriate quality.
* Storage cabinet contains gas cylinder discreetly and neatly.

Value for money
Ours has the side burner and did not have a sticker on it, so looks like maybe feedback from reviews has stopped them from being put on, so thats a good thing. BBQ was easy to put together and set up. Cooks very well, have cooked a variety of things and all cooked as expected. Easy to clean as well, so hopefully this will help us to be able to keep it for a long time. Side burner is handy and heats very quickly. The last one we had the gas bottle hooked onto the outside this one is in the cabinet and its a little harder to get to, but still functional. Pretty sturdy and a good size for its price, good value for money.
Average - Home use
Not a bad pick for the price, Average but works well and good enough for home use. (unless you are extremely into BBQing and expect an exceptional outcome )
includes a lid and a thermostat, Wok burner works well
Good for home use, I ve been using mine for few years now.
Value for Money
Easy to assemble. One man job. All tools provided. Box fit in small car for transportation home. Great beginners barbecue. Side burner is a really useful addition. (We used it for mushrooms and onions) Plenty of room to feed nine on Boxing Day. Value for money. Only downside was that it takes time to heat up.
Good BBQ for the money. Even gas dispersing and the finish doesn't age as quick as some others. Thanks Bunnings for giving us a options with out costing a fortune.
If you want a BBQ to do it's job, and not much more. This is the one. I promise!
I'm not one for positive reviews at all.
Love our new Bbq
This was a Xmas gift from the family. They chose well. It was so easy to put together, all stainless steel and bolted together. The castors are so smooth with the addition of two locking castors to make it safe. Handy side burner for stirfrys etc. looks really smart and makes my husbands bbqing a breeze.
I'm very satisfied with the cooking results. I was tossing up between a normal BBQ or a Webber Q and and so glad I purchased this. We havent had a bad BBQ yet. Lota of room to cook both on the grill and the hot plate. The storage underneath is fantastic to hide the gas bottle away and other things like tongs ect.
Should have caster wheels on all corners not just 2 but not to bad otherwise

Very difficult to remove sticker from hood
Purchased the Jumbuck 4 burner Comet BBQ from Bunnings in November 2017. Took home ( 1 box weighing approx 58 kg ) and began the unpacking process. It took a lot of searching to locate the instruction booklet. Tried to remove the sticker from the stainless steel hood and the printed layer came away easily but left the adhesive layer on the hood. Tried turps and eucalyptus oil without success. Phoned Bunnings and the helpful lady suggested and orange concentrate product called De-solv-it was what they used for difficult labels etc. Popped into B...unnings and picked up the spray bottle and with the assistance of a plastic paint scraper and much perseverance finally got the sticky residue off the hood without any damage. It did take a long time and much effort however. With that issue resolved I went about constructing the BBQ which came together easily as per the instructions. Plates were seasoned as instructed and all burners fired up correctly and heat was good. Used a spray on stainless steel cleaner product to get rid of all the marks and finger prints and it looks 100%. Haven't cooked on it yet but all seems to be good and am happy with the product.

NASA grade sticker technology.
Purched this BBQ a few weeks ago from Bunnings. Quite happy with the way it cooks, would certainly recommend it in that regard. However, whoever came up with the sticker technology used on the hood, your talents are wasted at Jumbuck! You have miraculously created one of the stickiest substances known to man. Your technology would be better suited to space exploration, being utilised by NASA. I have tried brasso, orange cleaner, metho, nail polish remover, pino clean, eucalyptus oil and windex to remove the sticker, as well as applying wet news...paper for about 10 minutes - with little success. I am now resigned to the fact I will need to remove the residue with a buffing disc attached to my cordless drill. I won't call my hood ruined until I have tried this. Apart from that, I give this barby 2 thumbs up.
OK, but heating is a bit uneven
The instructions were clear and this BBQ was easy enough to assemble. It is good value for a stainless steel BBQ. The main negative for me is that cooking on the open grill is less even than on our 2001 Jackeroo BBQ from KMart (which was gradually rusting away). I think it's to do with the design of the flame tamers on the Jumbuck compared to the old one.
Does the job
We had a Jumbuck for about 7 years and she did the job just fine. Just keep it clean and covered (hood down at least!). I think you will be happy knowing you've got a tool which allows you to casual bar-b for the family without breaking the bank. You will do well with a ¾ burner from the sounds of you initial post.

Roadtest Jumbuck Comet 4 Burner with Wok Burner (Stainless Steel)
After compromising with the missus, we decided to purchase a base model 430 grade stainless steel barbecue rather than a mid range (i.e. $1000.00+). Purchased from Bunnings on the weekend for $349.00. Comes with a 12 month warranty, and when putting it together I was quite surprised by the skill level shown regarding the fabrication and the build quality - not too shabby for an entry level BBQ! The BBQ went together with no dramas - all parts were there and just one little bend in a piece of the cabinet (I assume from transportation) that I was...able to re straighten with a quick tweak with a pair of broad faced Vise Grips with a square of old cloth in the jaws to protect the sheet metal. As a precaution, I chose to dab a little cold gal paint onto any spot welds that I came across as this grade of Stainless steel is notorious for being tricky to weld and I figured the would be where the rust would start... I also took the time to remove all the stickers and give the entire BBQ (Including inside the doors and cabinet etc.) a thorough rub down with cooking oil to try to help protect the sheetmetal. It came up looking really great! After washing the grill and plate down and drying them in the sun, I hooked up the gas cylinder and checked for any leaks. There were none, I reinstalled the grill and hotplate and fired the beast up for the first time! Everything worked first go, and I then seasoned the grill and hotplate as per directions in the instruction booklet. I then cooked a simple BBQ dinner on it that evening and was amazed by the heat this thing could produce! After heating it up for 4 - 5 minutes on "high" with the hood down, I then set the burners to "low" to actually cook the food! (I still put the hood down to cook). It will no doubt use a lot of gas, but I will try to include that information In my updates in the future. As I try new ways of barbecuing (smoking, roasts, pizzas etc.) I will also try to include this information in future posts. So far so good! I really just want to find out if you need to spend mega bucks on a barbecue to get a great one, or if you can just avoid all the hassle and brand snobbery and just get a fairly basic one and just look after it... p.s. I live about 200m from breaking surf and the Jumbuck Comet will live on the balcony under a BBQ cover. Update - cooked heaps of pizzas on pizza stone, and beaut roasts in the Jumbuck with the hood down - both foods much tastier than when done in the oven (I suspect my missus agrees with me just so she doesn’t have to cook these things indoors though
