I bought a Kaboodle kitchen from Bunnings Mascot NSW 2020 last year and the quality of the Cupboards and Benchtops and service is unbelievably poor. I had trouble with the installers from day one. Not turning up, turning up late [4pm for a 9am start] which was virtually every appointment. When they finally did start they brought warped stone Benchtops and tried to make them fit and then took them away and would you believe they came the following month with new Benchtops and these were also warped, so they left those Benchtops there and told me...they would be back with a new lot of Benchtops and i must not forget... these were to be installed sometime during the first week of October instead they were installed at the end of the following February. They left nothing underneath the benchtops for support and around the sink, every benchtop was loose and sitting on nothing and as for the invisible seams on my splashbacks, i had to sand the joints myself to achieve the invisible seams. I told all this to Bunnings Kitchen Staff and it got me no where, i even had a phone call from Bunnings telling me there was nothing they would do to help me. So now i tell everyone 'DO NOT BUY A BUNNINGS KITCHEN'
Some cabinets change from white to yellow
Over time some panels have changed colour,a problem that Kaboodle has been aware of for a decade, they do replace the items, but it is a huge job to replace everything, and so much hassle, I will be sending the bill from the cabinet makers to kaboodle, why should I pay for your known faulty products. My advice BUY ELSEWHERE my kitchen looks terrible but yours doesn't have to ,very deceptive company.
Double, triple and quadruple check
Had problems right from the start at Bunnings getting the order right and then after it all arrived and started installing it worked out that bunnings has stuffed it up and it was not going to fit,
So I had to change the layout to make it work, in the end the kitchen didn't run from wall to wall like it was planned too because it was 100mm to short.
The Kaboodle cupboards went together pretty easy,
We did find the the draw faces are slightly different widths which make the gaps look all wrong.
For anyone thinking of getting a kaboodle ki...tchen, when bunnings tells you that you will need to put end panels in some where like beside draws or somewhere you will not see the face don't buy it you can use a kick panel and save a heeps of money, I brought 5 end panels which was over $400+ and I could of done the same thing with one kick panel for $45. Our first kaboodle bench top was bowed 35mm had to wait a week for a new one to turn up. If I was going to do another kitchen I would just make all the cupboards myself and just buy the doors.
Unacceptably long wait for cabinet doors
I purchased base kitchen cabinets from store, after purchase and build told that timber look doors and kickboard will take 4-6 weeks and no guaranteed delivery date. Where is the good service and convenience in this?
Resolution to my Kaboodle issue
An update to my review below.
I received a call from both Kaboodle and Bunnings.
The operations manager from Bunnings called me we had a discussion and after an investigations she called me me back apologised and told me that my new doors were ready for pick up. Free of charge.
Kaboodle ...I received a call from Kaboodle. I must say I was disappointed as the customer service representative wanted to help but I needed to make a claim, she also asked for the following: - photos illustrating the discolouration - just two or three showing the whole kitchen - itemised receipt What resolution would you choose? Thank you Bunnings Kirrawee --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I purchased a Kaboodle kitchen and installed it no problem. Over a period of time I noticed two of the white gloss doors go yellow, I purchased 10 doors among other components. If they all went yellow I would cope with the problem, but the two doors stand out. Wrote an email to Kaboodle without a response, the most disappointing part of the experience is Kirrawee Bunnings. They do not back the products they sell and the lady was rude, Bunnings need to back the products they sell.
Myself and wife just fitted a large laundry and Kitchen using Kaboodle flat pack cupboards. The hardest thing we encounted was opening the packs so we didnt destroy the carboard, should we have found any damage inside the pack. However our experience is a good one, No damage, all screws and bits and pieces were correct. We actually enjoyed putting them all together, and the finish is fantastic. I have some building knowledge, and by following there step by step procedure, we started thinking we must be doing something wrong after reading oth...er reviews, it was just so easy. Doing up an old rental next, and will I be using Kaboodle flat packs. YOU bet ya . Great price, great finish. If Kaboodle used a better quality (water proof) not water resistant material I would pay the extra for it. Where Happy.
Don't waste your time.
I ordered a kaboodle kitchen on the 23rd or March and almost 2 months waiting it's still not complete. Upon arrival of the cabinetry and doors etc they had doubled up on hinges we didn't need and left out our soft close door hinges we paid for. We found the rangehood cabinet was damaged so we went back to bunnings to exchange that, then whilst putting the doors together we had a few damaged so had to go back and exchange those also but the absolute worst part of kaboodle is their benchtops.
So get this. After 4 weeks of ordering my kitchen m...y benchtop had arrived. 2 of the 3 pieces were fine. However one piece they had cut 350mm short from what the drawing was. We then had to reorder the piece again. It has now been almost 3 weeks from re order of my benchtop piece and whilst the staff at bunnings have been extremely helpful and empathetic they too are getting frustrated. After constant emails back and forth from the supplier with our correct size highlighted on every email and on every drawing the benchtop arrived this week only to be cut the wrong size again.. So its now been 2.5 months. I still have no benchtop, I can't install my sink or cooktop. I can't order my glass splashback till the benchtop is in and I am absolutely fed up by now and they haven't compensated me one bit for all the trouble we've been through. I would suggest to pay a little more and get it somewhere else. Kaboodle are absolutely hopeless.
Incompetence behind belief
AWFUL EXPERIENCE . I ordered my kitchen at the beginning of March 2017 from Bunnings Collingwood and was told there would be a 2 week delay in getting the benchtop delivered from Kaboodle. So we arranged construction to occur in 3 weeks time (via The Inside Project) to be conservative. After 2 weeks I asked Bunnings Collingwood when I could expect delivery of the benchtop and that's when the nightmare began. Here I am 6 weeks later, after countless phone calls to Bunnings Collingwood (their staff were great) all I got was vague promises from Ka...boodle on when the benchtop would be delivered. Then after escalating my complaint to the state manager, Kaboodle gave us a guaranteed delivery date (4 weeks from my order) which they failed to deliver. So here we are, on April 22nd, more than 6 weeks after I placed my initial order. I was guaranteed by Kaboodle (via Bunnings) that the benchtop would be delivered last Tuesday. I'm typing this review on Friday at 4pm, and despite being assured every day this week that the benchtop was coming "tomorrow" it still hasn't arrived. We've already delayed construction, and the actual install is happening this coming Monday. I advise people to NOT BUY KABOODLE. This company will take your money in a very efficient manner, but will fail to deliver on anything else (except broken promises). You've been warned.
very attractuve kitchen
just installed a charcoal kitchen for friends, this was my 6th caboodle, but first touch door and drawer one, had a problem setting up as normal gap between door and cupboard is around 2 mm, the drawer setup is more than 5mm with drawers standing out, we ended up getting all info of youtube. just to point out another fault with a sink base unit the front rail should be turned allowing the cut for sink, extra holes on same hole pattern would be good, my opinion is ,get an experienced installer to do kitchen as from step 1, if floor is not level your in trouble straight away,
looking forward to my next one.
Warranty help response update not feeling ripped off any more
The response from kaboodle has been great their warranty has been true to their word and have replaced every panel all 50 of them doors, panels etc big job for me though picking everything up an pulling out the old an replacing with new an oh my so much cardboard to despose of lets hope the new ones last a little longer than the ones that went yellow, a little overwhelming it all has been but kaboodle has been helpful an very nice am a lot happier than last week, from sha
Complete muck up with the bench tops by both Bunnings & Kaboodle. Have to remake, causing a big delay. Had to go to 3 different Bunnings to get all the cabnet items needed and 2 different Bunnings to get the hinges, all said had plenty in stock but were none on arrival, were all on their display none on the shelf. Some door colours /styles not available in all sizes. In all a very frustrating and time comsuming experience. We have had to make 8 visits to Bunnings to order and then to resolve the issues each time having to go over everything ag...ain as was always a different staff member to deal with and my wife also had to chase up the hinges from other stores. I do not recommend this service. My suggestions for Bunnings and Kaboodle is to have designated staff members who have been trained properly by Kaboodle in the stores and stock levels should be maintained properly do not include the displays as stock. A customer should not have to go to 5 different stores to get what they need.
The planning, design and purchase of our kitchen was good. The staff advised us that our kitchen would be completed in the one order so that the colour/ finish would be consistent. Our kitchen is white high gloss and I have no complaints until now as the white high gloss finish has started yellowing. Some doors started to yellow before the others but now all but one door has turned to a creamy off white. I am totally disappointed as they don't look any good against the white high gloss tiles and splash back.
Bought from Bunnings kabbudle kitchen also Lamanate. Gloss top the inside of the cubard doors should be rounded off they have very sharp corners very dangerous I cought my arm and got it sliced open. Also don't get gloss Lamanate kitchen work tops they scratch terrible we waisted 1.800 dollars we had to pull it off it was that bad. Replaced it with granite
No product backing, poor customer service and a sub standard product.
We ordered custom benchtops as they had the 30mm laminate we were after. 2 week wait only to be told one piece was damaged and could not be picked up in full. To Bunnings credit they arrange delivery, but the delay meant going without a kitchen for longer than initially anticipated.
After the benchtops had been installed for two months one of the joints begins swelling along 20-30% of its length. Photos and a warranty claim were sent via Bunnings and a week later a two line email comes from Kaboodle saying it is an installation fault (Toggles ...
Shocking. Unethical. Never to be recommended.
We had a Bunnings consultant come our home to design a kitchen for us. We needed to be practical as we need to rent our home out due to relocation. Needless to say everything that could go wrong did go wrong from trying to pay for the kitchen, the kitchen not beings delivered on time - we had to pay installers for a whole day without a kitchen for them to install, the kitchen was measured incorrectly and wouldn't fit, no invoices, no warranties, failure to return phone calls. We were left with an unworkable kitchen. Money taken by Bunnings but ...no kitchen at least one that can be installed for 5 weeks now. We ordered this kitchen 5 months ago. Attempting to get compensation or at least a refund. A very unethical company. Don't do to yourself. Spend a bit more money and give yourself peace of mind.
I've been really looking forward to my new kitchen for a long time. Sadly the only good things are that the units are very solid and very well packaged. Unfortunately the bad outweighs the good. Everything had to be squared up. The pot drawers do not close fully with soft close runners. Brochure states these are tested to a weight of 26kg, what they don't tell you is this is with normal hinges. When I rang customer service I was advised the runners should improve with use and maximum weight in drawer should be no more than 15kg and try some WD...40! The bamboo benchtops were twisted something else the installer had to remedy, and until unpacking the benchtops was not aware that these had to sit for 48 hours to acclimatise so that held things up a little. The finish on one of the cupboard doors was faulty, there was a "lump" on the surface which looked as though someone had put a 'blob" of paint on there, obviously this occurred during manufacture. I returned the door for replacement and because it was a special order (nougat truffle) I now have to wait 4 - 6 weeks. So a brand new kitchen minus a cupboard door. Very disappointing. November 8th 2016 Update: update of review 11th October 2016 (Disappointing) In fairness to Kaboodle kitchens, I was contacted after posting my review. They were able to speed up the delivery of replacement kitchen door so instead of having to wait 4 - 6 weeks, per special order, it was produced in less than 2 weeks, which was much appreciated. Good customer service. The discreet handles I purchased are not suitable for drawers, they look good but opening and closing drawers marks the surface of the handle (not those on top drawers). This is not a fault of the installer, you will find the same effect in the display kitchen at Bunnings. I was not aware of this until after my purchase or I would have chosen different handles. You may think I am being very fussy but as I said I was disappointed because I am nearing 70 and this will be my last kitchen so I was hoping everything would be perfect, as we all do with something brand new.
Assembles easy, but will it last?
I refurbished by existing kitchen by adding some Kaboodle units to replace two old ones, as well as installing full laundry cabinets. Kaboodle I found is better for short-term use (say 2 yrs), if you can't afford solid wood. The units we used were not completely square, lucky my handyman made adjustments. Also as one unit was screwed together the melamine split. Not good. I think Kaboodle doors etc are good for the price. But if I was going to install a full kitchen I would look to pay more and buy solid wood units and only use Kaboodle f...or doors or minor cabinets that won't hold a lot of weight or are not likely to be exposed to water seepage (i.e. under sink). They are great for the budget-restrained; but if you want it to last 15 years or survive children, I would suggest using something stronger. But great for minor renovations or short-term use.
Didn't work out the first time but great customer service!
This was our 8th kitchen we have put into a rental property. Bunnings made some mistakes in the sales process so that cabinets did not fit together properly. We were unable to contact Bunnings in the process which was not good. However, Kaboodle helped us out with great customer service and by personally coming along and fixing Bunnings mistakes. Thanks Allan for your help! This does not happen very often, so we are very pleased.
Krusty the Clown needs to leave Kaboodle
I want to love kaboodle but every panel in a cabinet needs to be mm perfect; and it aint. Also half decent screw pressure rips throughthe melamine. It aint cheap IMO, so it should be better.
Very easy, anyone can do it!
We put together a kaboodle kitchen earlier this year and were really happy with how it turned out. We used a combination of nougat truffle and lumpiness metallic doors which went together very nicely. Since my husband was a tradie, he was great at assembling everything;) I also picked up the drill and put together some of the cabinets, and had no trouble at all. We upgraded to metal sided drawers which had soft close hinges, which I absaloutely love!
2 benchtop S and they still can't get it right
Ordered my kitchen and they put a join in the extra long bench top in the wrong place and it was damaged, so we ordered a replacement one 7 days later it arrives and now I have a 25cm scratch on my black benchtop and the end doesn't have s finish on it . Let's reorder another one but it's going to take 7 more days to arrive . This company is a joke I would never buy off them again.
Good value for the money
I used a kaboodle kitchen in my new home, and I have no carpentry experience and had no trouble putting it together. I found the quality to be good and the staff were more than helpful. Numbering the parts would have been helpful with the putting together.
very poor quality and customer service
Most panels in our delivery required cleaning due to hot melt glue from the packaging.
Many panels were chipped.
Some panels were scratched.
After 4 sets of replacement parts were no better than the poor quality originals the quality issues have been resolved. This has taken 10 weeks.
According to the state manager we bought an entry level kitchen that most rental property owners would put up with. Very disappointing.
Suited my small kitchenette
I recently wanted to install a small kitchenette in our granny flat and didn't want an expensive option. It appears to me that Kaboodle have 2 options available at Bunnings - the first are more expensive flatpacks (in the green boxes) where you select each item separately from doors to colours etc. The second (in a plain white box next to them) is what I bought - branded as "Flatpax" but owned by Kaboodle. They are very generic white cupboards, drawers etc, but each kit contains the entire contents to make each piece, from door handles to screw...s etc. I didn't put them together myself, but my Dad advised it was very easy to do if you have some knowhow in this regard. I paid approximately $140 for each 2 door floor cabinet I used and $120 for each 2 door wall cabinet. I think they also have bench tops but I would avoid these cheap ones as I don't think they would wear very well. I'm very happy with how they look and work and think they would suit someone who is after a more budget friendly kitchen, especially if they are capable of doing it themselves. I liked the option of this kit over the others as it was much more user friendly as you don't have to make so many choices about each individual component.
My biggest mistake
Bunnings measured wrong. Mmmm. Kaboodle cabinet skeletons went together very easy to do. Issue is with the Heritage drawer fronts and all door panels. They are all BOWED. Even after going for replacements at the local Bunnings and removing the new stock from there packaging. Every panel has a bow in it. Kaboodle says that a bow tolerance is allowed. Had we known that in the first place we definitely wouldn't have purchased at $7,000. Kaboodle hand balled it back to Bunnings so we could get a refund on those doors and fronts. "They bow because of that they are routed " Kaboodles' reply. What a load of garbage. Decided to go solid white gloss instead, guess what, all bowed.
