A good kettle
I bought this kettle after reading the reviews on this page. It's a nice kettle. Does what it needs to do with no funny tasting water. Another reviewer commended on the on light only being on one side so it is designed for right handers, but that's a minor issue. It takes 3 minutes and 45 seconds to boil 6 cups of water. Not sure if that makes it a rapid boil, but it's not too bad. After buying it a visited a friend who also has this kettle and they said they were happy with it. I've only had it for a few weeks but we are happy with our purchase.
I bought this ketle back in September 2015 - so pleased with it that I also bought one for my daughter for a Christmas present. One minor annoyance is that it takes about 12 seconds to turn off after being fully boiled. You can observe this of course because of the glass sides.
bought this kettle 16 days ago, boils very fast and hot, but has leaked from the base since I got it, it actually cropped very hot water on my husbands foot, which is very dangerous. It looks good and really like the size of it as it's not too big and bulky looking. But just concerned about the continuing leaking of water.
I've only had it a few days but I'm impressed so far. It looks good. The all important on/off switch is easy to access and flick on. The lid of the kettle seems sturdy and easy to open and close. The blue "on" light is on one side of the kettle only, which may be an issue for anyone left-handed who might have kettle positioned with left side facing wall. Then you wouldn't see the light. That's a non-issue for me.
This kettle is cheaper than some of the others, and from what I can see is equal or better quality than the more expensive kettle...s. I would rate this over the equivalent Breville glass kettle, Sunbeam and other glass kettles that I looked at. This kettle is 2200 watts, slightly less power than some other kettles, but boils quick enough. Easy to pick up, fill and pour. No annoying beeping sounds or gimmicks you'll find on some other kettles. Kettles don't need to beep.. The base of the kettle isn't bad, the kettle sits reasonably stable on the base, and I think is better than some other brands I looked at. I would prefer a slightly heavier base in any kettle, just to avoid the base moving around.
Questions & Answers
Although the filter can be removed, I would also like to remove the plastic housing in which the filter sits, to avoid pouring hot water through plastic. Is it possible? I tried prying at it with a knife and it bends quite easily, but seems to be glued down to the inner rim. Maybe some silicone remover will do the trick? I don't want to break it.
Have had my glass kettle 2 days. I like it but the handle gets very warm. Has anyone noticed this ? or is this a fulty kettle??
