Kapture KPT-780 Dashcam was a waste of money
Bought this dash cam in JB Hifi for $180, upgraded from a previous cheaper and rubbish brand bought online, this was supposedly a good quality product but I've had nothing but trouble with it - turning itself off without warning even when powered, screen often went either black or fully white, had a car accident that wasn't my fault and turned to the dash cam for proof to my insurance company - it didn't record - which was its main purpose and meant I had to pay my insurance excess when I should have been able to prove lack of liability. I'm no...technophobe but accessing the footage via the downloadable software for this model is very difficult if not impossible, the very few recordings on the SD card are less than 9 seconds each and really spasmodic random dates, it clearly wasn't recording most of the time and no files were visible on the software, the instruction manual is very poor, no troubleshooting information, spent ages trying to unsuccessfully figure out how to access footage. Extremely frustrating. Thank goodness I took out the Extended Care Plan with JB when I bought it 18 months ago and was covered for the 1 year manufacturers warranty + 2 years so I was able to get a 'gift card' credit for the full value. I have now researched on www.choice.com.au and www.productreview.com.au and upgraded to a $449 Navman MiVue 860 DC (Dual Camera) system - no bad reviews for this online - which also (BONUS) came with free tyre sensors. Hopefully fingers crossed the new system will be better, good so far. I will never buy a Kapture system again.
