A worry at first but after firmware update, all sorted - great unit
Had the older model 820 which lasted about 3 and half years.
Good discreet location behind the mirror.
Got very frustrated with the settings reverting to default each time, and incorrect 40km/hr alerts when on 110km/hr freeway.
Nearly gave up, ready to throw out, but after reading others on this website were having the same problem and read suggestions to "load new firmware", I did this and this is all fixed and working great with excellent video/photos etc.
Fairly easy to install. I'm using a 64Gb high quality card.

Similar Issues to other owners
I also get frequent Wifi is already on messages. Also speed limits that are incorrect.
Also settings not being saved and reverting to default However some of my issues ( and I have done numerous resets, default reversions and firmware update) resolved when I replace the 128 G Mini SD with 64Gb card. I had the camera hard wired and I would be happy to replace it but nned to find a dashcam with the same power adaptor!
Had this poor excuse of a dash cam for 3 months. From day one was rubbish.
Firstly didn't accept 128gb card when stated supports it. I contacted support got told to upgrade firmware done that.
After that upgrade camera did not save any settings after camera was switched off. Contacted support again. Another firmware upgrade to follow. After that upgrade wifi on/off notification keep on turning on randomly and park mode settings never saved after camera is switched off and videos could never be accessible through wifi and app. Aft...
KPT-892, not worth it
I bought the dual camera version of this (KPT-892, exact same front unit). Initially I thought it would be decent enough to do the job. It's got a good build, records a good image and is a nice discreet package. Unfortunately it can't handle much heat. After only a couple hours in the Queensland sun (with windows down so the interior doesn't get too hot) the unit would overheat and not function at all.
As well as this, the adhesive pad which sticks it to the windshield would let go from less heat, so every day (sometimes repeatedly) I would h...ave to stick it back on the windshield before starting. It even fell off once while I was driving. The Android app to change settings via wifi is useless. I couldn't change any settings or view any files. Fortunately I have a spare iPhone so I used it to change the settings, but still couldn't view or download recorded video anyway. I returned it for a full refund from JB HiFi. All in all, if you're looking in this price range, don't get one of these. There's far better devices available for the same money.
Piece of junk
Will not mute the stupid incorrect warnings. Tells you all the time that the speed limit in a 110km/h area is 40. Bloody annoying waste of money that would have been on the side of the road if it wasn't stuck to the windscreen
terrible until they sort out the app
I agree with the reviewer above. Kapture.... if you are listening ... please sort out the App so you can actually control the settings. Hopefully someone is listening. Camera is great and easy to set up.
Questions & Answers
Why does my settings reset everytime I drive? I turn off the stupid alerts saying 40kmh in a 90kmh zone and next time I drive it isn’t saved so I have to turn it off again and again and also lower the volume. The settings should be able to be saved this is ridiculous.
Ethan, you need to upgrade the firmware on the camera. This will fix this problem. Go to the kapture website to download the latest firmware on your computer and install on to the SD card. Follow the instructions on the support page. It actually works and fixes the problem.
