Worked for my reflux baby

My 6 weeks old have bad reflux and cow milk protein allergy. Medication was not working for reflux. For allergy she is using aptamil pepti junior it worked for protein allergy but not for reflux. So, I added feed thickener in her formula. This product is game changer for my baby. It really helped to control reflux. Even though I am adding thickener only in 4 or 5 feeds not every feed but still its working. Thanks to aptamil helpline. I called them and they suggest how much I can add thickener in her feed. Show details

Constipation

I have recently started using this product for my 9 week old. The day after my baby got really bad constipation and didn't poo for over 24 hours. He is quiet a regular pooer. I wasn't sure if it was the thickener but using it again he got constipated. I have read alot of people experiencing diarrhoea but can you get constipation from this product too? It is quiet distressing seeing him in so upset.

Not worth watching our baby in pain

This product actually did work for our 5 week old in terms of reflux for the first 2 days. However the complications that came with it were not worth the benefits. It first gave our little boy diarhea 2-3 times a day and very yellow and a strong sulphuric smell, surrounded by pains in his tummy that were so bad they made him scream and screach, turn red all over, lips trembling and crying in absolute agony for 30-45mins.

Absolutely kills us watching him in so much pain, would rather him have the reflux where it did not phase him instead of the distress this product has given him as well as us.

This product should be recalled

We started this thickener for our bub who’s 7 weeks who has reflux. 4 days later he started having explosive diarrhoea to the point he was pooing every 30minutes and has now ended up with a red raw bum from all the nappy changes. He went off his food and wasn’t himself. After stopping it he has gone back to his happy self and his stools are starting to become harder and not as frequent. This product Shouldn’t be sold. No one wants to watch there babies in pain. Worst. Decision. Ever.

Does the job!

I started using this with my expressed breast milk a few days ago and it has done wonders. Baby's reflux suddenly got worse at 4 months, and the pain made him start refusing feeds, which was very stressful for everyone involved. Only issue is it has made his poop a bit more claggy, but that's definitely preferable to ending up in hospital!  Show details

My baby can't do without it!!

My 8 month old needs this with every bottle or just vomits it up everything again. Its been very hard to find at the minute in NSW so I called the Nutricia care line and they were so helpful, a representative delivered a tin of thickener to my door within 2 hours of the phone call. Went above and beyond, thank you very much. 5 star for product and customer care!!! Show details

Amazing

I noticed the difference after the first bottle. My baby was spitting up all the time now using Aptimal feed thickener with Nan comfort 1 formula and very minimal spit up. It is very easy to prepare. Make bottle with nan as usual and add one scoop of Aptimal feed thickener and shake. After reading reviews I stirred bottles free from bubbles first because if I don’t my bib gets wind. I’m wondering though how long I need to use the feed thickener for. Show details ·  1

Not for my baby

Started using this with high hopes as the Aptamil reflux formula worked well for my bub, except he reacted badly with violent diarrhea so we had to take him off it. Started using the thickener instead with a different formula, and again immediately it gave my bub diarrhea. But this time accompanied by stomach cramping and it didn’t even stop him from spewing, it just came up thicker. Show details

Buy the already thickened formula

Instead of using the thickener I actually bought aptimal gold already thickened formula as the thickener additive was just not working for my little one, would cry in pain especially over night after a weeks use, so I switched to the formula already thickened and it has been fantastic, I'm angry they have changed the product now though as it's less feed ratio. MY little one is still hungry afterwards. I can't get my hands on the old tins, she is 8 months old trust them to change it before she finishes with formula. Show details ·  1

unfortunately not for every baby

We used this for our lactose intolerant baby to help with reflux. I initially thought it helped, but after 3-4 days have him horrendous explosive painful diarrhoea. He was in so much pain we had to stop. Worked for his reflux though, just not for his little belly. Show details

Huge difference!

Huge difference! Nothing has helped my daughters reflux as well as this product! The first day we tried it after a couple of bottles at the full dosage suggestion she did seem to have tummy pains and colicky symptoms so going forward we reduced her dose to 3/4 the recommended amount and no issues since! Show details

Hi, I’m using Karicare for my 10 week old baby.
How much thickener do I be adding to a 150ml?
Hard to measure 3/4mls you using the scoop. Can I just use half a scoop? Or is this too much.
Also - is the thickener added after bottle has been made with formula or can thickener be added at the same time?

Hi my daughter is 6 weeks old and currently on nan lactose free, my question is, does the Aptamil thickener contain any lactose?

I am using Avent Anti-colic bottles with the fastest (size 4) teat and it seems to be clogging the teat and he's having trouble drinking it. I'm using slightly less than the recommended amount as well. I used the same with my daughter 2 years ago and never had this issue
