Hi
My baby has been using Karicare stage 1 since 1 week old, she’s now almost 3 months, she has a bowel movement every 2-3 days and consistency is loose and green, could it be she’s lactose intolerant or is it normal?

Karicare
Karicare   DM

Hi Tee, The poos sound within normal range for her age. Babies can have green poos from time to time and one loose bowel motion every 2-3 days is fine. If you would like to talk further please give us a call at the Nutricia Careline ph 1800438500 cheers Sue Careline Nutritionist

Hi Been using karicare for a month now, but notice that bub developed rashes around mouth every feed and will go away after few minutes. I know he’s not allergic to it because he poop everyday not constipated just the rashes. We don’t know if we need to change or not but for us we don’t want too.

Hi JVD, If you could please contact us at the Careline to discuss this further that would be best ph 1800438500. It may be that an allergy formula will be a better option. Sue Nutricia Careline

Hi, Currently I’m using Karicare 0-6mos for my bub then he will be 6mos after 5 days. Is it okay to start transitioning to Karicare 6-12mos even he’s not 6mos yet? Thanks

Karicare
Karicare   DM

Hi, thanks for reaching out. A stage 2 formula is suitable after 6 months of age but a stage 1 formula can be used beyond 6 months- even up to 12 months if you choose to. Baby is starting to get nutrition from food too after 6 months which is why it's fine to keep using the stage 1. If baby is 5 days off being 6 months, it will be fine to transition to the stage 2 or you can keep using the stage 1 for another tin and then do this. Please call us on 1800 438 500 if you have more questions. Kind regards, Hilary

Hi, I want to transition my 1yo from Karicare 0-6months to the 12+ karicare. We have feeding and weight gain issues and anything that tastes a bit new is often rejected even when transitioned slowly. Is there a big flavour difference between the 0-6months karicare and the 12+ karicare?

Karicare
Karicare   DM

Hi Dani. We would suggest transitioning your baby over slowly from the stage 1 to the stage 2 formula by mixing the two formulas together in the same bottle to minimize any digestive changes and help baby with any taste changes. You can do this as long as you are using the right scoop to water ratio for each formula. Ideally, try this every feed, over 3-4 days.
Transition by having ¾ current formula with ¼ new formula for a couple of days, then ½ current formula with ½ new for a couple of days, then ¼ current formula with ¾ new. Best of luck :) Laura

Hi there, my 6 month old is currently having aptamil baby formula 1 or 2 times a day and the rest is breastfed, but I’m looking to swapping to karicare formula are they similar? And any recommendations on swap over? Thank you

Karicare
Karicare   DM

Hi Tara. All formulas have to provide adequate calories, carbohydrates, fats, and protein for growth and development, but the differences come from the extras added (prebiotics, fish oils, thickeners, etc.).
Aptamil Gold+ Stages 1- 4 contain a patented probiotic (ours is a good bacteria found in the gut of breastfed babies - Bifidobacteria breve M-16V), prebiotics (food for the good bacteria), and fish oils. We've also added a beneficial probiotic to the Aptamil Gold+ which helps create a stronger immunity by maintaining gut pH and regularity.
Karicare+ contains half the number of prebiotics and fish oils as the Aptamil Gold+. But it has the same basic composition in terms of base powder and vitamins/minerals. It is a great formula choice, especially for babies still having some breast milk as they will already be getting all the fantastic probiotics etc. from the breast milk already.

We suggest transitioning baby over slowly from your present formula to the new one by mixing the two formulas together in the same bottle to minimize any digestive changes. You can do this as long as you are using the right scoop to water ratio for each formula.
Transition by having ¾ current formula with ¼ new for a couple of days, then ½ current formula with ½ new for a couple of days, then ¼ current formula with ¾ new.
However, you can miss a step or do this transition faster if baby is doing well with the change.
All the best, Laura :)

Hi, my son has been on 0-6 months since birth, he’s just turned one. Can I go straight from Stage 1 to Stage 3 or would it be better to go to Stage 2 for a while?

Karicare
Karicare   DM

Hi Jodie, at 12 months of age, your toddler can now go directly onto stage 3 toddler milks- there is no need to use the stage 2 formulas first. When you change, we suggest transitioning your baby over slowly from your present formula to the new one by mixing the two formulas together in the same bottle to minimize any digestive changes. You can do this as long as you are using the right scoop to water ratio for each formula. Start with smaller amounts of the new and increase this ratio over a few days. Kind regards, Hilary

What is the difference in karicare gold plus organic and karicare normal .0-6 mnths

Karicare
Karicare   DM

All formulas provide adequate calories, carbohydrates, fats, and protein for growth and development, but the differences come from the extras added (prebiotics, fish oils, thickeners, organic milk etc.) The main difference is that standard Karicare Infant Formula (0-6 months) is lower in prebiotics and fish oil. And of cause Karicare Gold Plus+ Organic Infant Formula is made with organic milk. I hope that helps, Laura

Hi, I’ve never used Karicare with my oldest one but I am currently using it with my youngest daughter. I am wondering what us the difference between Karicare and NAN comfort

Karicare
Karicare   DM

Hi Tanecia, our Karicare from birth and the NAN Comfort are similar products. These are both whey dominant (for easy digestion) but only our Karicare contains prebiotics- these help keep the gut healthy and the bowel motions soft. Kind regards, Hilary

Hi, so I’ve accidentally given my 5 month old my 12 month olds formula by accident, should I be worried? Can anything bad happen?

Karicare
Karicare   DM

Hi Billie-maree, if you have given your 5-month-old only 1 or 2 bottles of the 12+ months formula there should be no lasting effects. If you have given your 5-month-old more than that then please contact us at Careline at 1800 438 500 or email nutriciacareline@danone.com and one of our dietitians or nutritionists will be able to assist you. Warm regards, Caroline - Careline nutritionist.

Karicare

Hi Indiana, Karicare is a great standard formula and suits most babies. We do have a specific formula though which addresses colic and constipation symptoms which may be better for your baby. Please call us on 1800 438 500 so we can talk to you about this. Kind regards, Hilary

Hi ,
I am using Karicare for my baby. Can I switch her to Karicare A2 protein. Does it make any difference?

Karicare
Karicare   DM

Hi Reema, we don't recommend changing formula too often as baby needs an adjustment period after very change but if you want to use an A2 milk, then do this. You might notice some digestive changes but these should not last long. Please call us on 1800 435 800 if you would like to chat further about this. Kind regards, Hilary

Hi Neevah, The Aptamil Colic and Constipation formula is probably best for constipation. The Karicare is just a standard formula so may not make any difference for your little one. Best to give us a call to discuss further at the Nutricia Careline 1800438500- cheers Sue Reg. Nutritionist

Hi Neevah, we have a formula called Aptamil Colic and Constipation which may be a better option for your wee boy but would also be a good idea for you to call us on 1800 438 500 so we can have a chat to make sure baby doesn't have an allergy to cow's milk that could be causing the hard stools. Kind regards, Hilary

Hi, if a 7 week old is on Karicare 0-6 and we had to substitute to S26 Gold due to unavailability, would this cause adverse reactions? Including additional wind, chuck etc

LDP
LDP

Hi Natasha,

This would most likely vary from baby to baby! I have had to do this personally between S26 Gold / Aptamil / Karicare Step 1 with twins. Only one of my twins had a few issues with it: little bit of excess wind, some dribbling/small spews.

Be mindful that the consistency can be different between the brands, however you can usually catch minimise wind etc by burping them a little bit more during the feed, a longer chest/tummy time before bed.

If you are having trouble with availability, see if you can get in touch with a local chemist (usually a small business or franchise) and they can typically order in stock for you upon request.

Karicare
Karicare   DM

Hi Natasha, changing formula can affect the digestion of babies ( more so in younger babies) so yes, you may notice some changes- generally these don't last long but please call us on 1800 438 500 if you have more questions. You are welcome to buy your formula from our online store at external link  if you have trouble finding this in store. Hope this helps, thanks Hilary
