I bought this unit second hand, and according to the hour meter, it'd only done half a hours work ( 4/10 of an hour). When it arrived I fired it up by the pull start, as it didn't come with a battery. I also have a KGE2500X, and the bigger generator, obviously, is considerably harder to start by pull start. I only ran it for an hour or so, and there was a couple of old wall mount a/c units sitting in the shed, so i plugged them both in and ran them flat out on both heat and cool, and generator only seemed to feel the initial load when the compr...essors started in the a/c units, but ran the both of them no worries at all. The only issues I've had with it so far, is that the fuel gauge is pretty symbolic, as it only reads half full when the tank is full, but it had apparently been sitting around for a year or so before i bought it, so I'd say thats why the problem occurred. The only other problem with it is that the hour meter reached one hour then stopped, which is irritating, but going off the condition of the rest of the unit, which is good, but not brand new as it was advertised, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if the hour meter has been tampered with. Both of these issues are only minor, annoying, but minor, and considering RRP is around $2200, and I only paid $1000, and it runs well and has enough power for just about anything I can throw at it, I'm not too worried. I bought my smaller Kipor new, and it has no issues what so ever, so I'm guessing maintenance and treatment will have a lot to do with how these machines age, just like anything else. I really only bought this generator to run a small welder when mains power isn't available, and as yet haven't tested my inverter welder on it. The numbers for the generator and the welder indicate it should be able to handle it flat out,175 amps ( very rare for me to run my welder flat out, usually only 100 or so amps). I have however tested a 30 something year old stick welder, and although it doesn't like it much and works quite hard, the generator could burn through stainless welding electrodes at 100 amps without tripping the circuit breakers, and old welders are fairly inefficient compared to new inverter welders. The only other problem with this generator is its bloody heavy!!! It's 90kg dry, then add the 30 litres full fuel capacity, and its very difficult to move around by yourself, as it doesn't have wheels, like some of the cheaper eBay ones do.
