If you want a mixer for home this is the one to go for. If you used to own a 70's Sunbeam and are thinking of that brand then forget it, you will waste your money. My mother bought two in the last four years, one a "Retro" model which was all plastic and died months later. The 2nd one earlier this year, which appears solid but the key internal parts are not. See the reviews here they are spot on. Sunbeam was good once, but no more. Further, Sunbeam were very unhelpful at first but only with the help of Myers, they eventually refunded the purcha...se price which was bought through Myers. I spoke to the Kitchenaid distributor in Australia and they recommend several online dealers including Kitchenwaredirect & Yourhomedepot. I found Yourhomedepot is cheapest of the Kitchenaid approved sellers. They warned against Appliance Surplus as those units are imported from Europe and are not covered by Australian warranty if there is a problem. After checking the Appliance Surplus website, I found that there is NO contact phone number, NO office address at all, and NO contact email address. only a Post Office box. That is very strange and common sense tells me it is safer to spend the extra $80 odd dollars, as any website like that which has no way of being contacted must be dodgy in some way. Otherwise, Why not contact phone number, address or email? This LBarry person is clearly from that company - beware. It is a lot of money to spend so rather than believe me I would encourage anyone thinking of buying one to contact the Aussie importer, [contact details removed] and chat with them directly. Good luck. Solid Quality machine Made In USA. Rated by many users currently as the best of its type on the market. Price in Australia is ridiculously high for no reason. And the accessories are even more so.
I love my KitchenAid
This is by far the appliance that I am most fond of. Don't get me wrong, if I didn't receive this as a house warming gift I probably never would've forked out $700+ for it, especially considering I'm certainly not a masterchef. In saying that, it gives me much pleasure to see this work of art in action and believe it or not it has actually inspired me to try new recipes. I've never once used my handheld mixer since I've had this legend.
So sturdy and easy to clean. Quality second to none.
Expensive and heavy.
An easy mix everytime
I love cooking & baking. The excitment of opening the box to see my shiny red KithenAid mixer was everything that I had waited for it has been the best present ever. I have used it heaps already have to buy the attachments now can't wait to make my own pasta.
Very easy to use.
its a little pricey but once used u can see its value
Absolutely love my kitchenaid mixer
I now love my kitchenaid mixer , white and named Mimi kitchenaid and sits proudly on my kitchen bench. But we did not get off to a good start. The first one arrived and on only the second use it was making a terrible noise, it was swapped under warranty, faulty gears. The second one arrived and I was very cautious about over using it, it seemed a bit noisy and if I added choc chips into the cookie dough the head seemed to bump up and down a bit, so that's how it's been for the last couple of years, then last Christmas I was making ginger bread ...dough and the pin that holds the head on started to come out as the head was jumping up and down and the whole machine began to move across the bench, I did panic, but luckily it was easy to push it back in. I then started googling the problem ( too scared to tell hubby at this point in time because of the price we paid for it) Found the answer, if you look up from the base there is a screw that tightens the head to the base ( factory installation only slightly tightens this screw so as not to strip the thread, so there might be a few loose heads) Got hubby to fix it that night. He tightened it and we haven't looked back, no more head bouncing when I add choc chips, it sits firm and still on the bench while in use. I haven't stopped using it since. Hope this helps any one who might have had a similar problem with their mixer. Happy cooking. Makes wonderful cakes and bicuits and easy to use and clean slight problem as already explained
Red really does go faster...
We purchased our KitchenAid Mix Master nearly 2 years ago and it hasn't missed a beat. We use it regularly to make home made breads and a pavlova to die for. We have also since purchased and used the sausage maker and pasta maker attachments, all work a treat. Although the sausage maker was a little difficult to clean, the taste of home made snags made up for it.
Style, look, colour, attachments, reliable, solid
bulking, heavy (if needing to move it from one area to another), attachments can be a little pricey for what they offer.
Fun to use
I have never owned a mixer before and I absolutely love it. Makes baking fun and easy. Mixer quite easy to use, even if you haven't read the manual which I admit I don't like to do. Highly recommended as it is colorful and very handsome looking. I have it in empire red and it looks smashing. Easy to clean as well
Easy to use. Efficient and and reliable.
Wonderful mixer, and a fashion statement too!
Amazingly reliable mixer. Due to the design, it mixes without missing any part of your ingredients, except you may need to use a spatula occasionally to push bits down the side to help. There is an attachment you can purchase which will make this job unnecessary too. The fact that you can buy so many attachments to increase this tool's versatility is a selling point, as is the fact that you can expect it to last and last.
I didn't think about making scrambled eggs in it, as they're easy enough to do anyway, but I kept hearing people talk...about how lovely they came out if you mixed it in the Kitchenaid first. I've done it, and now it's my preferred method of making scrambled eggs. The bowl is so simple to clean, so even if you need to use it multiple times with different ingredients, it isn't a big deal to clean it between uses. It makes the most unbelievable meringues and pavlovas. I know they can be difficult to get right, but my attempts have been absolutely flawless and given me a reputation as a great cook. I keep getting better the more I invest in good quality appliances like these. Really excellent whipping/mixing/creaming etc On high speed, when whipping your pavlova up, it can be a bit tedious listening to its loudness for 10 minutes
It is simply perfect and Professional
I simply love looking at it. I love using it. My pizzas, cakes and everything I make looks and tastes much better thanks to the KitchenAid. If you don't have one, you are missing a lot.
Looks great. Easy to clean. Large bowl for mixing. Not noisy.
Worth every cent.
This is perfect!
What more could you ask for in a Mixer! The KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer not only does the best job for everything from whipping eggs to kneading bread dough but it is so totally classy and classic to look at i never ever want to put it away in the cupboard. I honestly couldn't ask for a better helper in the kitchen, and for the price you pay for them you'd want it to be as good as it is.
Great looking and so far does everything i could want it to do and more!
For a mixer than can pretty much do everything this is the one to get. Pasta attachment and ice cream bowl are fantastic. Looking forward to many many years of baking! Next purchase shall be the blender. Must give a plug to the staff at MATCHBOX in NORTHLAND. Staff most friendly, knowledgable and even gave us a demo whipping up one egg white. All in all a very pleasant experience.
looks fantastic on the bench, compliments kitchen. So easy to use and comes with a DVD.
Expensive to get all the necessary attachments.
Get your life back with Kichenaid appliances.
I don't like to think about how life was WITHOUT KichenAid.
This stand alone mixer is much more than just a mixer, it's my friend!
I bought the cobalt blue one with a matching blue blender.
The attachments are very easy to attach and to clean. The mince maker attachment saves me heaps of money, as I now buy bulk meat and mince it myself. I decide how lean or fat I'll mince it and it is always fresh.
The different grating drums are excellent. I grate Parmesan cheese on the finest one in a flash.
The puree attachment is fantastic for mak...
Saves alot of time with pastries and doughs
THis is a powerful mixer and not too noisy. It looks great on the kitchen bench (just as well as it is too heavy to get in and out of a cupboard everyday). It has some great accessories and can save on buying more gadgets that take up room in the kitchen and only perform one task.
Mixes ingredients with ease and evenly.
I bought this after my Sunbeam Mixer broke. The mixing capabilities are fantastic and I haven't been disappointed. I suppose one of the downfalls which isn't a big thing sometimes when feeding stuff into the side of the mixer its fall out if that make sense. Overall it hasn't missed a beat and would recommend anyone to buy it.
Reliable, value for money.
Heavy. Sometimes its hard to feed stuff into the side when mixing

Fast, Quiet, No Hassles
My husband bought the KichenAid mixer for me in early December as a combined Christmas Birthday gift. I have always loved cooking, but my results have been mixed to poor, and I had lost confidence.
Since picking up the KitchenAid, I cook every day, and have had perfect results. The pavlova that I have been making since my teenage years, is now just so good that I am impressing myself. I think it is true, that to be a good cook you need the right tools. Whipping up cream at the last minute is easy now - so fast & and quietly done. Also, beca...use it is so easy to clean up I use it all the time - even just to whisk up eggs. Pastry is perfect. Shortbread I made tonight was perfect, and so was the frittata from the Australian Womens Weekly cookbook where I added a cup of flour and then whisked in the egg and oil, all with my KitchenAid before stirring in the vegetables and herbs - nice big bowl so I didn't have to transfer to another container. The bowl surprisingly mixes up small amounts, and also big amounts - no changing bowls. It is hard to imagine that it makes such a big difference over my previous two beater mixer but it does. Also, I bought a copper bowl insert over the net, and was able to use it since the KitchenAid beater height is adjustable. Can't say enough wonderful things about it. My husband and I had initially looked at the KitchenAid mixer two years ago, and the lady in the shop had said to my husband that unless I did a lot of cooking it wouldn't be worth spending the money on the KitchenAid mixer. However my sister-in-law has one, and I had been at her home when she whipped up a chocolate cake for a last minute birthday cake. I know she doesn't have lots of time for cooking yet the cake was great and ready quickly with no fuss. We finally purchased in the Almond colour, and wish we had bought it years ago - it wasn't the extravagant purchase that I had thought it was, because it is now an amazing and necessary tool in my kitchen - I am now always cooking, and I've cleaned out my kitchen cupboards and become really engaged in the whole cooking biz. So proud of my chocolate cake! Grateful customer - Thanks so much to the KitchenAid people, and the Australian importer. Makes cooking just so easy and fast.

Just like a loyal horse, powerful, beautiful, and doing the hard job for you, with elegance & charm
Pros: 1) Excellent Brand Reputation, great value for money. 2) Unbeatable, beautiful look. 3) Efficient performance 4) Durability. 5) Very steady when working, which compensates the "con" of being hard to clean due to its weight. 6) Wonderful reduction of time for processing. 7) Flat beater, Dough Hook and Stainless Steel Bowl are Dish-washer safe. 8) Sturdy solid metal body appliance, not in plastic as many of others that may be wishing to be compared to this. 9) Good recipes and information at webpage http://www.petermcinnes.com.au/recipes.ph...p, with updating information. 10) Possibility of extending its efficiency with different attachments (pasta & ravioly maker, slicer, can opener, etc). 11) Made in USA. Cons: 1) Wire whip is not Dish-washer safe. 2) You will mostly get you hand dirty when taking out attachments. 3) Too heavy for cleaning purposes. 4) As a novice, you will overwork most projects until you adjust yourself to its great efficiency, specially if you are used to common hand-mixers. 5) For small quantities use a hand-mixer, otherwise be prepared not to having the total satisfaction, which is not fair for this marvellous device, which is intended for midium to large loads. 6) Some scrapping is needed from time to time during a project. 7) No recipe's cookbook comes with the original device, which sometimes is nice-to have. 8) Pouring shield looks fragile and does not match the great-quality look of the rest of attachments, and there is nothing said about it being dish-washer safe. 9) Besides, when some splashing occurs, there is a small zone unprotected which gets stained. Overall. Since I was 10 I have always heard about the Kitchen-Aid mixer, its power, its durability, its efficiency. Now I have it I just regret not having bought it before! It's worth every penny! I can't stop looking for recipies where I can use it! This is the best appliance I have in my kitchen. I absolutely love it. Apart from being beautiful, it makes every project so effortless that you will feel guilty. It's just like a loyal horse, powerful, beautiful, and doing the hard job for you, with elegance and charm. You will gain some pounds as you may want to cook more than usual with it! This is a leyend you can live yourself!
I don't know why I didn't have it earlier.
I bought the Imperial Grey Artisan mixer as it was not shiny and would not show dirt and fingerprints as easily. This beautiful mixer is capable of making so many things, cake batters have been thoroughly mixed and doughs are easy to work with and pliable after using the dough hook. The attachment hub offers even more possibilities. I have the pasta rollers and cutter and the meat grinder with sausage stuffer. You will never buy dried pasta or sausages from the shops again after using the attachments. The 10 speeds allows for heading dough to whipping egg whites and cream. The unit also comes with a DVD showing you all the features of the mixer.
Made in USA, Heavy duty construction, beautiful design
A wonderful appliance. Can't fault it. Makes a great pizza dough in a couple of minutes; whips up a pavlova beautifully and not only does it do the job...it also looks gorgeous sitting on the kitchen work top. Thank you for a product that lives up to its reputation!
Strong, well made, good looking...love the colour!
Well, it is expensive but that's ok. :)
Best Kitchen Friend
I had wanted one of these for a long time and finally received one for mothers day. I love it! It mixes beautifully, is easy to clean and looks good. My toddler and I do a bit of baking and he operates the mixer so its that easy to use.
For Christmas I received an extra mixing bowl and the new rubber bladed beater so can't wait to use them.
Wanted one for years
I wanted one of these for years and I finally have one. I chose a limited "Platinum" edition colour which suited me but I'm sure there is a colour out there for everyone. This edition came with a glass bowl and an extra attachment which scrapes the sides of the bowl as it mixes. I have a large family of 6 and often have guests and the larger 6.8L glass bowl is perfect. It doesnt have a splatter guard but the sides are so high I haven't needed one. I have already made pavlova, cakes, meatballs, batters and more and this thing works with ease....It's easy to clean and looks so spunky on my kitchen bench. I just couldn't be happier, actually I could, I could own all the attachments too. :) I would also like a secondary bowl so if one is in the dishwasher, it's still ready to be used for something else. Mixes everything, from 1 egg to meatballs for 10 It is expensive but I think you get what you pay for.
What's there not to love about it!
Classic design, looks great in any kitchen. Makes baking and so many other food tasks a breeze. So easy to clean. Powerful and performs wonderfully. Comes in a great range of colours.
Powerful, easy to clean, great variety of usage.
Questions & Answers
I have a KSM150 Artisan. Will a 4qt bowl fit this mixer? If so where I can I buy it?
Kitchen aid ksm150
Should the attachment shaft be spring loaded?
Our kitchen aid came without it .
I bought KSM 150 mixer from mighty ape a couple of week ago. Last weekend opened package and try to remove wire whip from beater shaft it was so tight and couldn’t come out easily. I notice that there was no spring on beater shaft. Is that normal or any defect?
