Read to see how I got rid of that plastic taste! Great coffee machine!
Love this coffee machine. It's reliable and makes great coffee. But when I first bought the machine I experienced the same problem that others had - my coffees tasted like plastic. Read on to see how I managed to remove that taste.
I bought the machine after reading mixed reviews and seeing a lot of feedback that this machine is spitting out coffee which tastes like plastic for some people. I figured I would take the risk because the price was good, and I could always return the machine if it didn't work as expected. Unfortunately...my machine produced coffees with that plastic taste AND I lost the receipt - nightmare! After doing some research, I landed on this quick fix - fill up the reservoir with about 3/4 cup of white vinegar and then add water until you reach the 'max' line. Run the vinegar solution through the machine until the reservoir is empty. Then fill up the reservoir again with fresh water and run the water through the machine to rinse it out, until the reservoir is empty again. Then repeat with another vinegar solution followed by another rinse-through with fresh water. You should notice the plasticky smell coming from the reservoir is significantly reduced and the coffee comes out tasting as it should - like coffee, without the plastic taste! You might need to repeat this process a week or two later. This worked well for me and I'm really happy with my machine. Let me know if you tried this solution and it worked for you!
It is cheap to buy and worth to have it. I just love it. I would definitely recommend for someone who love coffee but don’t want to spend much money.
Purchased in June 2018.
Not too bad for the price
This machine is pretty good, but not great. Its hard to get the consistency right, sometimes the coffee is burnt, sometimes not roasted enough. Nice and easy to use and easy to clean. Once you work out the kinks, its a pretty good little machine
Burning plastic taste and smell
If you like your coffee with a burning plastic taste then this is your product for you. If not I would avoid at all costs, terrible product. Have flushed through numerous times and still the same taste, my guess is the hot water is actually burning the plastic and causing the constant plastic taste.

Our previous coffee machine broke down and given that we only make coffee a couple of days a week we were willing to pay a bit less so after going through some reviews decided to buy Kmart's.
Look wise, it is all plastic so nothing fancy and with no functions but just frothing; however, it makes pretty decent coffees given its price. It has a thermometer in the middle at the top so you can check the temperature, so far experience has been pretty good.
Exploded causing burns and damage to brand new tiles
At first I thought this product was amazing and too good to be true, which I soon after purchasing found out that it was. I just got new white expensive tiles in my house which when the coffee machine exploded stained, also caused minor burns to myself and my partner. The machine was working fine for 3 weeks prior to this event. To make matters worse I have contacted Kmart 10-15 times requesting an explanation with them now avoiding a response! Can't believe Kmart and their customer service team. You would think an exploding coffee machine causing damage to personal goods and personal harm would be a priority of theirs to explain. Very disappointing.
Questions & Answers
I've only had the machine for a couple of weeks. The frother is no longer frothing, but is heating the milk. It is ear piercing loud also.
No milk is coming out of the frother, only steam and water. Does the milk frother have a hose? I bought it second hand. Can anyone tell me if there is supposed to be a plastic hose in the milk frother... thanks
Hi all. How long should the frother take to heat the milk to a reasonable temperature. Mine seems to take ages.
