Fantastic for hard wood floors! But it forgets the map occasionally!

My partner purchased this in August 2021. I am a big fan of Kogan products, especially the Kogan SmarterHome fleet. They are cheap, great value and on the most part reliable.
This vacuum is fantastic for the price. It has a map that allows you to see where the vacuum has been and allows you to manually select an area that you would like the vacuum to go on the SmarterHome App. You can also set "no go zones" where you don't want the vacuum to go, for example hot spots where the vacuum will get stuck on wires etc.

Read morerdwood floors, I don't have any carpeted floors in my house so I can't speak to that. It has a "mopping" function which is basically a small tank of water and cloth that attaches to the back that you fill up and it gradually empties, going around the floor dragging the continually dampened cloth on the ground. It works well, better than not mopping your floors at all if you're like me. However the tank empties very quickly and therefore you can really only mop one to two medium sized rooms before you have to refill the tank. It is Alexa compatible, however disappointingly there was no ability to name the various rooms on the map to be able to say "Alexa, tell the vacuum to clean the kitchen" for example. You can only tell Alexa to turn the vacuum to start or stop at the moment. Of course you can set timers for the vacuum to come on at certain times each day. You can also program the vacuum to send a push notification to your phone when the bin is full. The bin needs to be emptied about once a week I'd say vacuuming every day. The only thing annoying about this vacuum is that about once a month it forgets the layout of your house. Whether this is deliberate or not I don't know but this means that it forgets the no go zones. So I'll often come home and see it's not in it's dock and go "Ahh ffs where is it?" and have to check the various no go zones in the house where it would usually get stuck to find it. Then I have to let it relearn the house layout (risking getting stuck again!) until it has a new map of the house where I can reset the no go zones. This only happens about once every 1-2 months so it hasn't been annoying enough that I send it back but it certainly is something that surely could be easily fixed! Upload the map to some sort of cloud and then redownload or something man! It picks up on subtle differences in furniture position and remoulds the map to suit that, but maybe it just completely freaks out if too many things are different and thinks it's in a different house? Not sure Anyway TL;DR: If you have a hardwood floor, can get this for a good deal and are tolerant of cheap technology needing a bit of help every now and then then this is for you!!

I wanted a cheap vac with mop option and came across kogan recommendations. On arrival i was scared to set it up as it looked too hard so just pressed the power button for it to auto clean but the brush kept malfunctioning. I ended up swapping the faulty brush with spare from box and it worked much better. I finally got my head around the connecting to app and wifi setup.
Now its set its map up it just cruises around cleaning my house. It cleans for about an hour then goes back to recharge then will go off again to do the rooms it missed. Five...

Read more bedroom two kids two cats. Kids have to pickup their stuff cause slurpy starts to clean. I make sure all the phone cords, shoe laces are away and doors are open. Sometimes i leave some doors closed as it doesnt need to go in there daily eg study. I empty the dust bin daily with a simple eject button and open to release dirt. I use the mop occasionally. You need to fill it and attach each time you want to mop but then you need to set it to only mop where theres no carpet or mats so mainly just use in kitchen and dining as we have 3 mats in rest of living rooms. I use the spot clean and area clean function too. Ive owned it only a month but im very happy with it and now my sister has ordered one too. I havent had to get my big vacuum out at all but occasionally get my cordless dyson out for a quick kitchen tidy up if needed. Overall im happy to recommend the kogan lx8 to anyone! Only suggestions Make manual a bit easier for non text savy people. I think it would be cool to be able to name the rooms on your map so you dont need to try work out what area is what and possibly if you could do 2 maps. Tiles carpet mats Works great on all our surfaces
