This is one of those vehicles that is very likely to be owned by an enthusiast for a life time or forever regret the day you parted with it.
A vehicle that does not pretend to be anything other than a purpose built off road and brilliant tow vehicle
very practicle body and engineering design that allows many off the shelf components and accessories to be fitted very easily ( meccano construction )
Iconic design that will never date and is lost on the Japanese 4x4 manufacturers since the earily eighties.

Probably the best full size 4wd ute, go anywhere, carry a load in comfort truck there is especially in the 130 as they are longer and have twin coil rear suspension standard. Wouldn't swap it for anything of the same value, thats the key they are very good value for money, overlooked vechicle.
I have a single cab 02, fuel economy excellent for a brick 10-13l/100km all the time. Good power and torque, carrys 1500kg, great offroad, full time 4wd is usefull. Will out handle any similar ute on road, low centre of gravety. Ride is smooth off road and on for a truck.
Driveline shunting, no leg room, air con vents on your knees, bit noisy in cab, watch oil ingress in wiring loom, hard to change oil filters.
1999 Td5 Extreme 110. Fantastic car. 160,000km including 30,000km offroad without ever [repeat ever] getting towed out or seriously stuck. Crusies all day everyday at 100-110km with or without a trailer - economically. Tows our campertrailer anywhere [including soft beaches, muddy swamps and rocky gully's]. We're not into cars / 4WD's but our Landy is a very important part of our holidays, travels and lifestyle - couldn't live without one!!
Unstoppable offroad. Tows anything with ease. Very economical [9-10litres / 100km]. Reliable [no ...
best car I've ever used off road, biggest limiting factor is me, can tow anything and 1.5 tonne caravan off road doesn't bother it at all, but its basic and very noisy so not ideal as a daily drive, wouldn't be without one though!
built to go off road, does one thing really REALLY well, if you fit behind the wheel they are a good long distance tourer!
Built to go off road, does ONE thing really really well, if you don't fir behind the wheel you will be in agony after an hour!

Rain comes in everywhere but the car makes up for it. We went through a huge puddle that went up to the windscreen and all we did when we got home was hose the car out and everything was fine. Totall...
