Land Rover Defender (2003-2016) has been discontinued and replaced by Land Rover Defender L663 (2019-2022).
The new model defender is a disaster to me. I never remember whether I had any warranty repairs with my previous Defender 300 TDI, which I owned for 10 years. The 300 TDI defender was trouble-free but the new model defender has been troublesome to me. It is very disappointing. Warranty is expiring soon but there is no extended warranty available to the new defender owners under Land Rover. Extended warranty is available to all other Land Rover models. I do not feel comfortable to keep the new model defender without extended warranty.

We have owned a 110 Landrover Extreme for several years now and before that a 110 Defender. Have been on so many great trips and husband always boast that he never gets stuck. Which is true. They d...
Read moreo cost when they breakdown and the services are a high price if you can't handle them your self. I love the fact they all Landrover drivers "wave" to each other, they are all very friendly. But i always said to my husband (as a joke) that they always waived because everyone knew how unconfortable the seats are in these 4x4. Jokeing aside they are the only car that you can buy new and take off road straight away. I own a Triton and i had to have it lifted as you have to do with most other cars except the Landrover. Love the look as well.Lots of Land rover problems are simple things that Land Rover could not perfect yet. Even simple oil leaks are very common problems. To have these problems sorted, you will have to make an appointme...
Read morent and drive some distance as Land Rover service dealers are not many around. In my first 10,000 km, I made about 10 trips to the dealer. That was very excessive.... The time loss was too much.Questions & Answers

I was invited on a desert trip (Simpson) with 4 Landrovers (I have a 1990 Toyota Troop Carrier ~480,000 ks on it). The landrovers had niggling mechanical problems the entire trip and the amount of spa...
Read moreres they carried was unbelievable. The Troopy never (and has never) missed a beat and was capable of carrying much more than the Landrovers. As I actually carried around the same amount as the Landrovers the troopy was only moderately loaded. The landrovers were,in my opinion, overloaded and top heavy as they had gear on their roof racks. The reason I went with them was to access whether I would replace the Troopy with a Landrover; my decision is a big NO.
