A good looking model for playing modern stereo LPs
This is a review for the Lenco turntable L-90 model. I purchased this in Australia. There are special features which I like about this particular turntable. For instance I did not want an audio system component/turntable with plastic housing on the outside. The manufacturer is promoting this as a wooden turntable. The housing is made from a wooden case (MDF) with Walnut veneering. It does have a smooth vintage appearance of which I much prefer. The overall finish of this turntable is beautifully made.
One major piece of technology which I l...ike about this turntable is the built-in pre-amplifier. It is very important to have a pre-amplifier because without it sound can not playback in most modern/contemporary audio systems or AV Receivers. I have connected the RCA turntable plugs to a contemporary Pioneer AV Receiver VSX 827K which has a dedicated Analogue RCA input. Other specifics I look for in a turntable is a generous platter to support the vinyl record. This component does have a nice aluminum record platter with a rubber mat. This turntable also has a main power switch on the rear. It also has a USB 1.1 Type B port at the rear so it can connect to a computer Windows or Apple Mac platforms so as to record the sound into a computer. It comes with a CD containing recording software, Audacity v2.0.5. After unpacking this turntable there is a little bit of assembling and adjusting involved. There is a head shell, cartridge, a counterweight, dust cover and a metal record platter to install. This wasn't difficult for me to do. The instructions in the User Manual were easy to follow.
