It's not Thinkpad – I think this is not thinkpad. I still believe the real thinkpad only in L, T, W and X. Other series only use Thinkpad name. I bought this one for my wife and never have any problems. replaced the HDD with SSD and it run very fast. It's i5 with 4GB Ram. However the built quality cannot be compared with other series. We bought it for $500 and L… Read more
series with the similar spec more than $1000. It feels like cheap plastic and squiky. You get what you've paid. I also have L and X series, and these ones are very tough.
Very poor – Had problems with this computer since I bought it new, seizes every couple of weeks (computer has to be turned off at the switch). Lenovo support was no help. Had problems with the cooling fan as well. It might be called a 'Thinkpad' but it is nothing like my old IBM Thinkpad that my parents are now using (11 years old and counting). Will not buy another Lenovo product again.
Terrible Computer, constantly broken. Awful Service: Companies should avoid contracts at all costs! – The Victorian Government provides these laptops to teachers, which come at a hire cost to the teachers. This cost is meant to cover repairs and use, etc. The laptop has caused me so many worries and long, service calls. The 'on' button had broken within weeks of being delivered, the battery connection went loose, and after repairing the… Read more
laptop, the computer works worse than before! I only get 1 hour battery on full charge, when the week before I got 4 and half hours charge.
To be honest, the time it takes to get the parts is not very long, and the people who carry out the service are generally there within 48 business hours. However, it is the terrible service which you have to go through with their international call centre which is makes this company Hell to deal with.
I am only the first generation of English speakers in my family, and I also teach asylum seekers English on weekends, so I am not racist or some silly bogan who can't understand someone with an accent. Having said this, the operators can not understand what you are explaining and they speak quickly, mumbling through poorly-rehearsed lines. They are not capable of answering questions or deciphering issues when you clearly explain them. They are rude, incompetent and really just need more training.
My most recent hardware issues required speaking to someone who clearly could not understand English well and whose pronunciation of words needed a lot of work. He was probably used to customers complaining, because he was even ruder when I explained that I could not understand him. He would not allow me to speak to anyone else, he put me on hold to 'speak to the manager' but refused to let me speak to the manager. In the end, I had to assert that he must let me speak to someone or I will complain, and he hung up on me.
I have MANY colleagues who have had the same experience. It wastes company time, makes the workers unhappy and stops progress.
If you are considering this company for your IT requirements, go elsewhere. There are many hardware faults with their products and the call centre is terrible, like really the worst service ever.
Time for the government to look elsewhere... it's a big contract and I can't understand why they would more effort into trying to keep their customers happy. When it's not broken, it is good Broken often, AWFUL CALL CENTRE to get repairs
Terrible computer – I bought Lenovo E520 as I was told it has good technical features. Basically, I don't need them, I'm a simple user. The computer went wrong after 2 month, something with video card. Has been repaird, but the screen went "blue" with some noise a couple of times since repair. I was told may be it's a driver problem. But hey, there is Windows 7… Read more
built-in in system. I don't like Windows 7 as well, too complicated to use. I experienced constant difficulties the moment I need to find and change some of the configurations. I regret buying this computer.
Very good for its price and definitely satisfied – I got this laptop about a week ago for AUD $585 with an i5 processor and 1 gig video card. For the price I will recommend this laptop any day of the week because it has tons of features. The size and weight of this laptop is fine for a normal 15 inch laptop. This laptop can easily be compared with any $1000 laptop out there. Its keyboard is one of… Read more
the most recommended keyboards so far and the build quality is not bad for its price either. Lenovo has done a great job on this laptop and I am certainly very satisfied with my purchase. good quality, cheap, heaps of features and much more screen resolutions are a bit low but nothing too big to be worried about.
Cheap Thinkpad Edge E430 Lenovo laptop, terrible customer service – After Lenovo failed to repair my IdeaPad notebook which failed thrice in its last month of warranty between 16 June to 18 July 2012, they decided to send me a cheap replacement notebook Thinkpad Edge E430 on 20 July 2012. Their repairer Teleplan is a very dodgy repairer, avoid them under all circumstances. Last month of my original notebook's… Read more
warranty expired while it was in Teleplan's repair centre.
They also failed to deliver the new replacement notebook as promised. I had to personally go and collect the notebook from DHL depot as I was without a notebook for more than a month.
Then I decided to upgrade the warranty of my new notebook to an onsite warranty by paying them AUD $204. That is when the trouble started, the new notebook turned out to be dead on arrival. I contacted their incompetent customer relations team in Kualalumpur Malaysia and spoke to their team supervisor almost everyday since 23 July 2012 and he promised to contact their Australian customer care manager for a resolution. However they did anything to replace the dead on arrival notebook. Now they have failed to replace a cheap dead on arrival notebook and are not prepared to repair it onsite even though I paid and upgraded its warranty to onsite warranty. They are running away from their responsibility and do not want to deal with me anymore. Their Australian Technical Support Team has already issued me with a Dead on Arrival reference number as soon as I contacted them.
I have lodged a complaint with Office of Fair Trading NSW in this regard and will keep it posted here.
Has anyone experienced this type of third class service from their customer relations team?
In the beginning while I decided to purchase my original notebook my friends who had bad Lenovo warranty service experience advised me against purchasing Lenovo, however I thought they are robust notebooks and I went ahead with the purchase. Now it has turned out to be a real nightmare. No working notebook since 16 June 2012.
Stay away from Lenovo. You have been warned. Unreliable warranty and customer service Unreliable warranty and dodgy customer service
Byer beware! 1 month from new and it died! – Have had the Lenovo ThinkPad E520 1143 (Intel Core i5-2430M) a little over 1 month and last night it died, I mean no screen, no power, no nothing! I was told by Stephen (tech support) at Lenovo that this happens from time to time. Well as far as I am concerned that is not good enough, and should not be expected of a product that is brand new.… Read more
Where is the Quality Control and product checks before it gets released for sale? Now I have to stuff around getting it repaired and are with out a Laptop for 7 days (this will probably be longer) NOT HAPPY and no would not recommend this product or Lenovo in general. Laurie Newburn WA Inexpensive Took to long to get, got double billed for a couple of days, computer died after 1 month
Cheap and Low quality – I got 1 Thinkpad E520 several recently. I like its cpu and hard disk's performance, and its one of the cheapest among different brands with the same level hardware configurations. But there are some major problems: 1. Low quality monitor. You can feel(see) the fine dots on the screen, which makes eyes tired. This flaw is an overwhelming… Read more
disadvantage over all other merits.
2. There are two graphics cards. One is integrated with 256M memory, another is independent ATI card with 1GB memory. But you can't specify which one to be used. It always use the bad one in general use. The theory is so-called energy saving. Only when doing complex graphic processing like playing games, it will switch to the ATI card.
3. There is no hard disk indicator light, and the indicator of dvd driver never blinks. It's really weird.
4. The functional keys (F1 ~ F12) should work with Fn key. It is also odd. If thee keys are used directly, that means adjusting volume, brightness, or switch to projector, etc. It's different from normal convention of all other brands I ever used, like Dell, Acer, Hp. inexpensive Low quality monitor, odd design
