Lenovo thinkpad l560 expensive mistake
Bought a Lenovo Thinkpad L560 in December 2017. Within days the unit emitted a screeching noise on start up. After inquiring from a technician friend he seemed to think it was a motherboard issue and the only way to stop this was to remove the battery (and incoming power lead) - wait 30 seconds and reinstall battery. This seems to fix the problem - until the next random screeching episode of which seems to be about every 5-10 boot-ups.

A good laptop for students but could be better
Thinkpad L440 performs very well but there are a few aspects that really annoys me: 1. most laptops have the Fn key to the right of the Ctrl key, but this series keyboard have both keys swapped around. 2. The need to use the Fn key to activate F1 to F12 keys. 3. the cheap plastic look of this computer does not match the price tag for this Lenovo laptop. 4. It is extremely annoying how sensitive this plastic material is to fingerprint stains. I had a plastic finish Toshiba satellite laptop that would not get stains from touching or handling it. ...5. Only 1 USB 3.0 and 3 USB 2.0 entries. 6. I do not love the fact that the trackpad as a whole functions as a button. 7. The HD+ screen is ok but has poor viewing angles, it is not great considering that cheaper laptops have a higher quality screen display. For the retail price asked for this laptop series, the screen quality is quite poor. I only purchased this laptop for 3 reasons: 1. Battery life is great: I get 7-8 hours with 6cell battery, 2. 14'' screen size with DVDRW and 3. I got the laptop brand new with 2 and half years warranty on special for half the retail price.I like that it is much lighter than a 15'' model laptops with DVDWR built in. Sound quality and volume are average. Would have I paid the full retail price for this laptop after having the experience of using it for a couple of months? NO I WOULDN'T! One can get a nice Apple MacBook Air for similar price and even better battery life. This is a good laptop but overpriced for what it offers.
