Love my LG – I bought my washer in 2003 and it's still going strong, and we've worked that machine hard. I have a family of five and I do at least 8 - 10 loads of laundry a week as I have two children who at 11 and 7 still wet the bed almost nightly. We moved house in 2008 and forgot to put the pins in the washer so it didn't move, and it still works. We did… Read more ·  1

have an incident where a 5 cent piece blocked a pipe, but my husband who is not at all handy had no trouble identifying the issue and fixing it. We have had the repairman out once a couple of years ago to replace the drum motor I think it was. He told me that it's a common issue with his model after a few years, but then was shocked when I told him how old our machine was and how much laundry it does. I was given $4000 last year by my parents because they knew I wanted do buy a washer and condenser dryer pair, but I still haven't spent it because I don't want to replace my LG. Happy with the job it does every single time. The only downside is the length of time it takes to wash a load of clothes. 2+ hours is annoying when you just want to get the laundry out on the line, especially in winter when there's not a lot of daylight hours. Gets the wash clean every time, and that includes the smell from my teenage boys sports clothing. Wash time is too long.

I really love this machine – I bought my LG Front Loader in January 2003 and it's still going strong. I've only had the repair guy out twice - both for a blocked hose due to some loose change that had got caught up in the wash. It's never missed a beat. I rarely use the Quick 30 minute wash preferring to do a full cotton wash with the time save button checked. Yes it is a… Read more ·  1

long cycle, (front loaders do not operate the same way as top loaders, they need more time) but my clothes always come out clean, even the very dirty garden ones. I might use the Quick 30 for things that really don't 'need' a wash, but you want to run through the wash anyway.

It does sometimes 'walk' slightly when I do a big load of heavy towels, but not much. I just make sure I don't overload it. I put the wash on the night before, hang it out before I go to work the next morning, and it's all good.

I'm really surprised by the experience of others here. It's a shame, because I think it's been a great machine. Excellent cleaning results, uses less water than top loader, easy to sue. A load can take around 2 hours, but as I am consistently happy with the results, I don't mind.

Horrible product – As soon as the warranty was over we had so many issues with it. Firstly, the door broke off its hinge, we were lucky enough to have a cheap washing service repairman in Lara at the time who replaced the door with a second hand one. Then it just stopped draining water and the door wouldn't open. Had moved to Melbourne by this time and the… Read more

repairman was a lot more expensive and $300 later had it working again. Then the spin stopped working. It ended up fixing itself, but was never the same. We also had temperamental issues with it leaking too. I wasn't forking out $300 for a repairman to come out again to fix it.

Then recently it just died. Spin stopped working and couldn't get it working again, water wouldn't drain...was just so frustrating. Went out and bought a new one today, and it wasn't LG. Lasted 5 and a half years - not good enough considering how much we forked out.

The only good thing was as soon as we bought this washing machine our electricity and water usage went down! Energy efficient, water efficient Did not last long enough, issue with drainage, door, spin, leakage - you name it we had an issue with it at once stage probably

Excellent Machine – Ok I've had my LG WD 8013F washing machine now for 12yrs with no problems washers well lots of selections washes it has certainly earned it money, appliances only last up to 10 yrs this model has beaten that. the only issue I had was the spinning cycle was like a plane taking off but didn't bother me as the laundry is at the end of the house, but… Read more

just letting you know and the reason why I put up a review now is that is it having a problem hopefully small and it doesn't worry me because I got so much out of it.. I wash about 4-5 loads fortnightly maybe more weekly in summer.. so if it turns out I need a new washing machine I'll be looking at LG..

13 years on – This washing machine has; been used heavily, moved without bolts in, lived in an outside laundry with no door, and generally not treated with the respect it deserves. Still washes perfectly every time, however the bearings are getting a little noisy so it may be time for retirement. Will definitely be purchasing another LG :)  Show details

I was happy with this product – It did clean well. Did not wear out clothes. Was reasonably quiet. Simple controls. I only used this machine lightly (maybe once every two weeks) over the past 15 years and it always worked fine every time.  Show details

LG front loader bearings failed after only 5 years – I must say that up until a week ago I was happy with our LG front loaded but then today the bearings failed, destroyed the front rubber seal and made the smoked up the whole wash. For bearings to fail after only 5 years is absolute disgrace. But then I checked where it was made and sure enough it was "Made in China". I should have known better… Read more

and bought German.

Building obsolescence like this into any product doesn't get my tick of approval.

A bearing failure after only 5 years is a real design flaw or shows that the quality of the original components or design is rubbish.

Where is LG's quality assurance in such products?

My parents had a Whirlpool top loader than ran for 20 years without issue and then only need attention because some belts needed replacing. Water efficient Bearings only lasted 5 years

Had a good Run – 4Yrs ago I up graded from a 2nd hand $30.00 twin tub Hitachi to this 2nd hand $280.00 LG, Just pressed cycles to get it to work, not impressed with the 1hr 45min cycle, 30 min best for me, Just read through many reviews, they are all correct + and -, I was impressed with mine, but my clothes were usualy lightly soiled, I could put any mix of… Read more

clothes towels in together, brilliant, no lint at any time on the clothes, loads were never large, used once a week, It sat outside under the eave not used 13 months grandson ditched a couple of scoupes of sand into it, brought it back into use, bearing almost siezed, bit of manual effort ,began to move again, sounded like a wheel bearing grinding to death at first, amazing it came back to life, but hi spin mode is noisey!!!!!! as but going! not expecting it to last forever, seen a run out model on sale $398 radio rentals23/12/12, bought it, thought it was a LG, well its a Samsung, will find out what its like soon, reviews seem + 30minwash great, was a good 2nd hand pickup like an earthquake when ballance out, and unlevel, coins under feet fixed that

Poorly made - not designed to last very long – We bought this machine brand new and activated the extended warranty. I has lasted through the three year warranty period and then started to have problems. The machine would wobble under spin cycle sometimes getting itself as far as the laundry door. The spin cycle was soon accompanied by a grinding sound from the bearings failing. I dismantled… Read more

the machine and found that the surface the seal ( the one that kept the water out of the bearings) was running on was badly corroded and had destroyed the seal allowing water into the bearings. The reason for the corrosion was the use of dissimilar metals together ( stainless steal and aluminium) which reacted with each other. LG don't want to know about spare parts, leaving you to spend a lot of money, bearings and seal are $50 each, the part the seal runs on is over $70 and the shock absorbers that stop the machine from shaking, are poorly made and also cost $35 each. Out looking for a new machine and it will not be an LG! Still looks like a new machine, washes the clothes well Walked all over the laundry on spin, poorly made, didn't last very long, spare parts are very expensive, front controls unreliable

Works perfectly in a motel under constant use – Bought this unit about 2.5 years ago as a stop gap while waiting on delivery of new front loader for our motel. Used daily, multiple loads since it came to us. Never a miss. Never a glitch. A perfect workhorse for our operation. LG is now one of the brands we prefer to use throughout the motel. Highly recommend it. Show details ·  1

Amazingly tough machine – I first bought this washing machine when I bought my first house with my back then girlfriend (now wife) back in august/September 2003. the main board stopped working due to a mouse eating some electrical cables inside. Lol. Luckily the guy that came and showed me let it slide and replaced it under warranty at the time. 16 yrs on and just replaced the carbon brushes a few days ago for $26.00. But now the tub bearings are starting to grind and make noises when spinning. I won't bother replacing it. It's time to upgrade and from this experience with this product, I'll be definitely be buying another LG washing machine once this one gives way.

Help – I've had my LG front loader for nearly 10years and have had no problems at all till now. I went to put a load of washing on the quick 30min and it went for 2hours. I was wondering if you would know what could be wrong I was thinking maybe the timer. Do you think it's worth me getting someone to come and have a look at it?

Hard Working Machine – Has been a great washer for 12 years! Ony broke down yesterday after 12 years of great service. Will probably get it fixed > then enay it, and upgrade to a larger one as we really need a bigger washer anyway. Bought it for $600 in 2001, have used it about 5 times a week, which means each load has cost me 19 cents a load! So economical. Economical, reliable Noisy. Show reply

tomorrow, I'd buy another one, although I'd go 9 or 10kg's instead of 7kg, so I could fit all the sheets in one load. Energy efficient, reliable, gentle on clothes. It is noisy on the spin cycle, but so was our old top loader.

Bad – Generally a 2nd rate product. Wouldn't buy another LG front loader if this is typical. LG support is poor and their service agents arrogant and unhelpful. Quick 30 min cycle is good. Washes reasonably well. Any cycle other than Quick 30 min takes ages and ages. Jumps about all over the laundry. No separate spin cycle. No indicator of where it's at in the cycle. Very poor support from LG. Very expensive to repair.

Can I give it less than 1 star? Terrible quality, not even 3 years of use – This was bought for us as a wedding gift at the end of 2008. This machine was only washing clothes for 2 people, a load a day, more on weekends [sheets, towels etc] it's had an easy life.. I thought it worked resonably well, and I overlooked how noisy it was and how it vibrated around our laundry. a few months ago I started noticing that our dry… Read more

towels smelled and I had to put them on a long hot cotton cycle with a whole scoop of detergent, napisan and fabric softner.

One evening without warning, it started making terrible noises and then tripped our circuit breaker.. and filled our appartment with a burning smell.

I expected more from LG, and for a washing machine to last for not even 3 years is terrible. I didn't bother to have someone come out and look at it because there was obviously a bad electrical fault as well as a motor [wouldn't/ couldn't spin the clothes] I'll never buy anything LG again.

We now have a 7.5kg Samsung eco bubble washer - I've written a review of that also.

Noisy, left clothes smelly, vibrated all over the laundry.

Great machine when working, but out of warranty and wont spin – This machine is now 4 years old, it worked great for 3-4 years and never skipped a beat washing at least once per day. But now it has stopped spinning, and it's way too expensive to fix, better off buying a new one. It was relatively inexpensive to purchase, $400 after the water rebate reimbursement. If you can get a second hand one pretty… Read more

cheaply it's an excellent machine, just be aware of the potential faults. If I had have known it would break down after 3-4 years I would have bought a more expensive machine.

The features are excellent. you can adjust spin speed, temperature, pre-washes, rinses etc and it also heats water up to 90 degrees so perfect for when you need to 'sanitise' something.

You do need to connect it to both the hot and cold taps though as it uses hot and cold water from the tap. I would prefer a machine that used a single cold hose and heated it's own water instead of using the water from my hot water service but not a big deal.

Great machine, just wish it still worked, so now on the hunt for a new one. reliable (until it broke), easy to use, inexpensive, easy to change temperature and spin speed, heats up to 90 degrees wont spin anymore and too expensive to fix

Good – Very happy with the LG and would certainly recommend it for really dirty loads or the delicates or jumpers. Hoping to find a solution to the vibration soon as it used to be very quiet. Very gentle with all loads. Uses very little water and I really like the 7kg capacity. It was hard always bending down to load the machine. Then I bought a pedestal stand, so that's not a problem anymore.

Excellent – Overall I think this is a top washing machine although I wish the wash did not take so long. Cleaned the clothes well But was expecting it to last more than 31/2 yrs – I did love this machine cleaned the clothes and the 30 min option was good. The water saving was good too. water saving and 30min wash the motor blew up only after 31/2 yrs of using the machine. the soap tray had to be cleaned all the time and it was very noisy when in spin. Never leave washing machine on and leave the house because the motor burns out and catches fire if left on.

Terrible – Absolutely a joy ! Power board went on it twice, bearings (I think) made a grinding noise on spin, rattled and jumped around on spin cycle. It would make a better jackhammer if LG knew what they were doing. It made my ute drive smoother due to the extra weight on the tray. Having to continously load it onto my ute to get fixed.

Hate it every time I have to use it – I had an old Hoover top loader that was unkillable but a little hard on the clothes so I thought I'd get a front loader! the corner when it spins. Its on a perfectly level concrete floor and I used a spirit level! The only wash that's any use is 30min speed wash on 400RPM max spin but it leaves the washing really wet and it takes ages to dry. The rest take too long when you have a family of 5, you work long hours, the teenage kids play sport sometimes 6 days a week and I have 6-8 loads lined up on Saturday morning and urgent washes mid-week to get uniforms and sport gear clean and dry for the next day! Now, 4 years later, I have had enough! I am looking to toss it for a new toploader!! Energy efficient and low water usage, gentler on clothes than the top loader Wobbles and jumps around the room on spin, even at 400RPM; it goes unbalanced all the time; it's quite noisy and very ....very..... slow, except on 30min quick wash; you can't add anything after you start as door takes ages to unlock and you have to start the program from scratch if you stop it to open the door; you can't advance through programs to speed things up, can't just spin something but can rinse & spin however this takes ages and wastes water when you just want to spin it a bit more.

OK – Would not get a LG front loader again. Cost for parts and labor is very high. This machine when working well has been a good thing, but when things go wrong the cost is excessive. like air bubbles or something; a friend's has exactly the same sound, but I've never heard it on other brands. I've never had problems with it jumping around - maybe it wasn't level (feet adjustment?) for those who have. Seems crazy to use a spirit level but maybe that's an option. I'd recommend this machine compared to other similar machines but if I was buying now I'd do new research before buying - brand standards change with profitability and changes of management. simple operation, reasonably flexible wash options, pretty quiet, done an average of 4 washes a week for 7 years. I've heard there is a straight spin cycle somewhere but there are no instructions on how to use it (only Rinse+Spin on dial). Lights on dial can be hard to see if it's a sunny day or your room it really light.

Excellent – You need to take care of the machine in order to keep it in pristine condition. Hence, no problems at all with this machine. Washes well, never had a problem with it. It's around 6 years old now and still in perfect condition. I love the extra rinse option and the quick 30 minute wash options... they really come in handy! Nothing.
