Fast and water efficient – Has a very handy 30 minute option that I use 90% overall. This seems to work just as well as the other much longer options wool; cotton etc. Have used other makes that use plenty more water and power.  Show 2 replies

Long last reliable-ish machine – Had this machine about 3 years, after i bought it for $110 second hand, only problem i everbhad was towards the end of its life, where it tripped the power occasionally, and about once in every 25 - 30 loads it would leak water on the floor. Would say for its age it is pretty quiet. Definitely reliable, and does an OK job of washing, wash cycles are shorter on this one then the new $2700 LG machine we replaced it with.  Show details

After 8 years working for a family of 5 it is starting to give a little trouble – The first problem was after 7 1/2 years the machine started filling very slowly. eventually it would stop before it fully filled and say IE (inlet error) in the display. Restarting the wash or putting a bucket of water in the machine will get it to go through a cycle from start to finish OK. A couple of weeks ago it failed to pump out. Worked out… Read more

how to take the inspection cover off and found 2 one dollar coins and a hair clip, as well as a lot of smelly filth. Cleaned it out, found out about maintenance washes and not using liquid detergents and all was fine for a week. Bought and fitted a new pump ($56.00 and easy to fit). Now waiting on a new inlet valve ($48.00 and very easy to fit).

The cycle select push button on the front is also starting to get a little dodgy.

All in all what I would call a great run. 7 years trouble free without even the recommended maintenance then only a few easy to fix problems

Front loaders are not, in my experience as water efficient as a top loader as they take way less than the advertised load if you want them to do a good job. Any water savings are offset by the extra electricity the hugely long cycle times a large load takes in these machines. Clothes come out harder and scratchier than a top loader so fabric softener is required, adding more cost per wash.

Maintenance washes on high heat are required at least every 6 months and once a month if you have a big family. The little bit you save on water you will spend on the other costs of owning a front loader.

If like us you need a front loader because of lack of laundry real estate then the LG brand works pretty well and has many cheap generic internals that are easy to replace for a competent home handyman with a B class electrical license... 7 years of life before any troubles. Cheap and easy to repair. Didn't last forever with no maintenance.

Good machine – We've had our machine for over 7 years and it's been very good and reliable. The seal split a few years ago but with some tape it's been fine to keep using. The trim around the top of the machine has yellowed but not the door or control panel. The buttons on the control panel can be a bit insensitive and don't register unless you get the exact… Read more

right spot, but have never not worked. It is noisy, especially when filling up, and has a beep when it finishes that you can't turn off.

The timer to delay the start of the wash is very helpful. The time left is not very accurate for washes though, probably only out by a few minutes but if you're heading out that's annoying. Then it takes a couple of minutes after it finishes before you can open the door.

The wool cycle works well on woollens. Was reasonably priced and does the job. Takes a long time to be able to open the door when it finishes. The door can seem like it's shut without having caught properly and it won't start until shut properly.

Excellent washing machine – I've had this washing machine over 6 years and never had a problem, which I'm happy about as I've had nothing but trouble with other LG products purchased at the same time. It's very water efficient and washloads always come out clean. I sometimes forget tissues in pockets but they stay in the pocket! It has delay start where you can program… Read more ·  3

"ready in X hours".

The plastic door and front have faded to a yellow colour, but it's not in direct sunlight, and there is sometimes gunk left over in the drawer.

Overall very happy with this washing machine. Washes clothes well, water and energy efficient Plastic parts have faded, gunk left over in the drawer

Terrible – The washing machine has been nothing but trouble since the day i bought it 2years ago. It would be nice if there was a LG washing machine like this one without it causing so many problems The fact that it is a front loader. I bought it because i was sick of having top loaders fixed My LG WD-8016C always moves, leaks from dispenser drawer. Have had… Read more

it fixed twice. The spring that sits in the seal has come out and now if i use it there is a lot of noise and it will not spin the water out the clothes

Good – This is a fanstastic washing machine which has proven to be very reliable. However I think my next washing machine will be a top loader, due to the few frustrating limitations of a front load washing machine, such as spin cycle and not being able to add further clothes to an existing wash cycle. Energy and water efficient at a very reasonable… Read more

price. Long warranty which thankfully we haven't had to use as yet. Uses very little water but washes the clothes well. A multitude of different wash settings and the digital display shows time remaining which is handy. It has a fast spin rpm but is quite stable. It has 3 draws for wash powder/softer and maybe something else but without the instruction manual you would not really know which one to use. You cannot select a spin cycle without a rinse unlike a top loader. There is no way to open the door whilst it is on a wash cycle which is frustrating if you wish to add more clothes to a load. Again, this is not an issue with a top loader. Sometimes there are still soap suds in the door at the end of the wash cycle which your just washed clothes can pick up when removed.
