How do you open the cover on the lint catcher?

Chris H
Chris H · WTG7532WH (7.5kg)

Bought the machine in April 2016. Lint! Lint! On everything. Lint filter no don't one. Wash the clothes then go outside with a lint brush before bringing the clothes inside. Where does all the lint come from? Previous loads. As for service in Canberra act. One company only. One other Company want service call fee over the phone when you book. The other is sooooo busy can't service for at least another week. As for the LG Care centre, don't think the staff are in Australia. For future reference don't buy it unless it has a lint filter. LG products are good. Question - why no lint filter in this model?

JulsDen
JulsDen

Sounds like your filter at the bottom at the back of the machine. Suspect that could be full, in is further in the outlet pipe I think from memory. Needs cleaning that might solve it??

na. no lint filter on this model of machine. talk about lucky.

I have an LG inverter top loader 6.5kg a few years ago. Does this machine have a lint filter. Cant find any evidence . Thank you.

oMSmellHer
oMSmellHer

Hi Kristine, yes it does. Should be on the barrel on the inside on the side somewhere. Don’t know how to explain it sorry. But that where mine is. You have to like pop it open.

Kristine K
Kristine K

Hi, mine is a stainless steel inside but theres nothing else on the side. Just the drum.

Maree
Maree

no lint filter, hence I posted about dirty washing, impossible to get clean sheets, the lint sticks to the sheets and gets in the creasers, the sheets come out dirtier than when you put them in. Of course you can do a drum clean of two, which uses up 3+ hours of electricity, not good for reducing our carbon foot print. I asked about the lint filter at the time or purchase and was told the machine doesn't need it as it washes all the lint away, which is absolutely not true.

How to clean this washing machine?

Is there any lint filter??

Allan E
Allan E · WTG7532WH (7.5kg)

We have been generally happy with our machine, except for the erratic timer. It seems to reset the amount of time to go without any human input. We can check the time to run and it may be, for example a few minutes, when we go back five minutes or so later, it has changed to 20miutes or more to run. It has always done this but at first only occasionally, now it is with almost every wash. Any suggestions?

Dani
Dani

Ooh,no sorry. The only thing I can think of maybe its adding time according to the load? You may have to contact LG. I have always found them to be really helpful.

Allan E
Allan E

Thanks, I did that but all their call centre (Philippines, I think) did was refer me to one of their authorised repairers - $110 for the visit and $22 per 10 minute period for labour plus parts. No advice without a service visit I'm afraid.

I have an LG T8582/EAP (8.5 kg) I have cleaned filters in machine and the filters on the back water hoses are completely clean. I get scum on my sheets and clothes frequently and have never had this problem with other brands in the past. Regards Barbara

Dani
Dani

I have never had a problem like that with either of our LG machines. Could it be fabric softener? I was getting a bit of build up in my front loader (Electrolux) and I have just switched to using vinegar instead and its fixed the problem,,it works just as well, its far cheaper and it cleans the machine as well! I know if you wash in cold water the fabric softener goes thick and gunky, especially in a front loader. Otherwise it could be too much detergent? Have you tried a tub clean?

Barbara

I stopped using fabric softener ages ago,The scud on clothes started happening not long after I bought the machine

Where is the lint filter and how do i clean it? Thanks

Aaran.C
Aaran.C

Hi Mate,

The lint filter is built in automatic so you shouldnt need clean it to but a service technican should be able to confirm if thats the case.

Terrence
Terrence

Have a look at page 34 of the User Instructions / manual -- (assuming --- not always wise -- that the 6.5 and the 7.5 are of similar construction ), there is a method shown for cleaning the pump casing and filter. Frequency is reduced by design and the task requires access to the rear of the machine. Machines requiring frequent lint disposal usually have the lint trap accessible from the front.

Automatic lint filter cleaning should not be taken too literally. Just as tub cleaning is often overlooked, and that process is in the manual as well.

Mary
Mary

Hi Bob, I'm probably not the best person to answer this question as I didn't realise that the machine, WTG8532WH, had a filter, so have never tried to clean it. I have now read the manual and it says to close the taps, turn on washer, press start/pause.

It will attempt to start washing. When the water stops turn off the power at the power point.

Remove the inlet water supply hose, pull out the filter and clean with a brush.

Refit the filter and and reconnect the inlet hose.

This does not seem to be a very user friendly procedure.

I have not had a problem with lint on my clothes.

However I don't think the machine has enough water if it fills up automatically.

Therefore I always set the water level manually so the washing has plenty of water in the machine to swirl around .

Bob
Bob

Thank you all, i had read the instruction manual but seemed rather cumbersome to do at the back of the machine I thought other owners may have picked up something i may have missed . Once again thanks. Possibly the machine designers will look at in the future.

Thanks I did the tub clean yesterday - started at 8.20am and it finished around 4.20, unfortunately the customer service people at LG dont really seem to know whats going on

shazjlee
shazjlee

I did mine 2 weeks ago and it took about 2 hours. Had to get the book out to see what products I need to use which was oxi action (NapiSan) type product. I don't think it used much water as it fulled to the lowest level. Not sure why it would take 8 hours except that something is wrong, the machine heats the water till it's hot and steams the inside of the machine and I think this is what takes the time.

Customer service is useless and the only time I have rung them they told me someone would ring me back, and hung up, and of course no one has rung me. Customer service staff are not technically trained so have know idea what I was talking about. They have computer generated answers so when it comes to actually answering actual problems they have no idea.
