My baby has always been so hard to get to sleep. My partner and I have been going crazy without our sleep and I headed to Baby Barn Discounts in Tweed Heads and they recommended the Love to Swaddle Up. I've always been a little apprehensive about swaddles as the wrapping looks complicated and they look rather constrictive. Good thing about the Love to Swaddle Ups is that it is a simple zip up swaddle and my bub can have her arms up and close to her face and she sleeps like a dream now. I seriously would recommend this swaddle to all new mums who value their sleep and their baby's wellbeing.
"simple, effective, cheap, good quality"
"a little thin"
BEST $$$$$ SPENT ON BABY GOODS
These are amazing. I recommend them to everyone. Bub was sleeping like a trooper from the fist day was used them. Great for sneaky hands that wriggle out the top of swaddle blankets. This will be my staple baby shower gift from now on. Everyone should try these. Buy neutral colours because you get multipul use out of them!
Everything. 50/50 transition was great also
small size was still a little big for our tiny bubba.
A must have for all new parents!
I purchased our "love to dream swaddle up original" direct from the love to dream online store when our little girl was about 4 weeks old. She loved to sleep swaddled but I was finding it SO difficult to keep her all tucked up as she was getting so big and strong and could wriggle her little arms out and wake herself up. I also found leaving the house a nightmare as I couldn't leave her swaddled and transfer her into the car or pram. After ordering the love to dream swaddle I was SO impatient for it to arrive as I was sure it would solve our pr...oblem - and it did! Amazingly! She loves it and sleeps in it every night (now 8 weeks old) and it's a dream to transfer her in and out of the car especially. Two days after the swaddle arrived I went online and ordered another two so that I wouldn't be stuck without a clean one! My advice to anyone thinking about buying this product is DO IT - and buy AT LEAST two so that you can have one in the wash and one good to go. I have a few other zip up swaddle products and this is the best by leaps and bounds! The only downside i've found at all is that it takes a while to dry (cannot be tumble dried), mainly along the outside seam which is quite thick. Having said that, we live in a cold climate so it hangs inside on a clothes horse to dry - if you lived somewhere that had more sun this probably wouldn't be an issue. Natural arms up sleeping position, easy to use, easy to change nappy/transfer to/from car and pram, cute Long drying time (VERY minor con)
Great purchase. We wrapped our baby in muslin wraps for the first few weeks though she always managed to get herself out and one time the wrap had gone over her face which was worrying. Before we even knew about the Love to Dream swaddle - during the day when it was warm we just covered bubs with a sheet and she seemed to sleep with her arms up next to her head. The Love to Dream swaddle covers everything and you dont need to worry about bubs getting out of it or it covering their face. The swaddle is apart of the bedtime routine also and as so...on as she is placed into it and zipped up she knows its time for sleep. Will definitely be using again if we have another baby. Easy to clean; Easy to use; Fantastic! Discolours where hands go into mouth; expensive
My baby can't sleep without being swaddled but won't sleep if wrapped too tight. The love to dream swaddles are perfect! She loves them! She can be swaddled but still be able to move her arms. You can also click baby into the car whilst wearing it as it has holes for the clicker. I love this product and so does my baby!
Great design, good price, easy to use, can put baby in the car whilst wearing it.
Wean them out early
Great for newborns up to 4 months old. After that my son got way too dependent on having his arms wrapped to sleep. Also I found that even when not sleeping, his arms are constantly in the upright position. I wonder if any studies have been taken on long term effects !
I think if weaned out of the suit early enough, this issue would be avoided.
My baby sleeps so well in it
Prolonged use has bad effects
Slept through the night with this!
Bubba loves this and so do I. She slept through for the first time when we bought this! Yay.
She knows its sleep time the second you zip her up.
Love this product.
Would recommend that don't buy white as they discolour were bubba sucks on hands and it doesn't look great.
Zip makes it easy to pop bub in even if she's already fallen asleep. Hands don't get cold.
Doesn't work well in the car as the shoulder straps can't go in the right place.
A must have
I was given a love to swaddle for my second baby. I wish I had one when I had my first. The swaddle was invaluable when my baby was a newborn. I could put her in the swaddle to sleep and if while she was asleep I had to go out I could put her in the capsule still in the swaddle without waking her. It also was great for middle of the night nappy changes as I didn't have to unwrap her completely. I love this product and I am so ever grateful to my friend that gave it to me.
Expensive, not many colour choices.
The swaddle for escape artists
Our little escape artist always managed to destroy my wrapped swaddles. These were a god send. Easy to put on (1. put in baby, 2. zip up), reverse zipper to help with late night nappy changes, no fussing or rewrapping after night feeds and bub got to sleep with his hands up around his face. We used the original, organic, light and finally the 50/50 transition swaddles. Costly, but well worth the investment
Lite swaddle version for day sleeps, easy to use, great quality, 50/50 great for transition to unswaddles sleep.
expensive, not many colours
OK, seems to restrict circulation to hands
I bought this swaddle as my baby always wriggled out of muslin wraps. I found that it took a few nights for him to get used to sleeping in it, which I was expecting. However I found that the next morning his hands and arms were freezing cold. This concerned me so I stopped using the swaddle and went back to muslin wraps.
Now that he is older, he sleeps with his arms out (and above his head!), and they never seem to get cold like this. I was also disappointed that I was unable to buy the Love to Swaddle Up 50/50 in the small size, as my bab...y is small and still fits in the original swaddle, despite now sleeping with his arms out. I also found this product to be quite expensive considering the limitations on size. Expensive, restricted circulation to hands
This is a great swaddle!
This is a great swaddle! Originally I was using the summer infant swaddles as I thought my baby preferred to have his arms down by his sides than up, however after being frustrated that I couldn't put my baby in the car seat without undoing the swaddle, I purchased the love to dream swaddle. Initailly I was worried that he wouldn't fall asleep as easily with his arms up, but after his first sleep he loves it! Now when I lay him down for a sleep he actually smiles as I do up the zipper!
Sizing is accurate, two way zipper is great for changing na...
My 11 week old baby is comfortable, sizing is accurate, quality is high, the two way zipper enables you to change the nappy without taking the swaddle off. I bought the 50/50 so I can eventually unzip bubs arms when he's ready to sleep unswaddled. My baby loves sleeping with his arms up and quickly soothes once he's in the swaddle. The material is soft and stretchy. There is plenty of kicking room and it isnt tight around his hips for those worried about poential hip dysplasia. You can find these on sale all over the internet, so google them first before paying the RRP.
quality, comfortable, 2 way zip, removable arm zips
expensive $50 ish.
I am not a typical review writer - in fact I think this is the first one I've ever written! But I just had to come on here and say this swaddle has been fantastic for us. The first night we put our son in it he went for his longest stretch between feeds yet (around 6-7 hours at 5 weeks old). It's also helped me enormously with breastfeeding, as he was very 'grabby' with his hands while feeding so I fed him wearing the swaddle for a while and he has now learnt to feed keeping his hands calm! I haven't heard anything about the hip displaysia prob...lems, and none of the midwives I've spoken to about using the swaddle has warned me of it - so I hope that is just a rumour. Because we seriously couldn't live without our swaddle, we love it! Bub loves it as he loves having his hands by his face. Also helped heaps with breastfeeding.
Everyone should get one!!
This is seriously the best invention. I can't say anything more positive about it. So easy to use...no more annoying muslin wraps. Wish it was around 5 years ago with my 1st baby....get it, you will not regret it! Used it from day one and my bub alway slept soundly in it. Best part is the hands are up near their face which is how babies like to sleep.
Easy to use, can use in car seat, can change nappy and leave babies arms still in.
Can't live without!
Great zip up wrap which allows bubs arm to be up in natural position. Seatbelt hole is great for early months when baby sleeps a lot.
A godsend!!! I couldn't figure out muslin wraps and my bub wanted arms up ao would get out of the muslin anyway. Only thing my bub couldn't get out of! Helps them to self sooth ad they can rub their own face.
Expensive, had to buy 2 so wash one, use other. when bub can roll you aren't supposed to use it anymore so now it's really hard to get her to sleep without it, next baby I may wean off it earlier (my bub is ...
We bought this for our baby when he was 7 weeks old, when we moved him into his own bedroom. The first night he was in it he slept for 5 hours, as apposed to his normal 3 hours! He is now 10 weeks old and we put him in it every night before his nighttime feed and when we put him into bed he is able to nod off on his own. The swaddle is very easy to put baby into and he seems to really like the snugness of the swaddle. It is easy to undo in the middle of the night to change a nappy. We could not live without it!
Easy to use
A bit pricey, but worth it!
I was told about these from a neighbour (she has 3 kids) and thought I should get a couple to try out for when I had my little bubba. From day 1, our little man has been in these wraps and I cant speak highly enough of them! I found you need 2 of each size, so that if accidents happen (as they do), then one is on the line when the other is being used (although they do dry super fast). I have recommended these to other friends now, and they agree - these things are amazing. My little man cant get out of them (he is a real little wriggler!), can'...t wake himself up in the middle of the night by hitting himself, and knows that when he gets put into the sack, that its time for sleep. He has just graduated from the 50/50 one (with detachable arms, for getting them used to conventional sleeping bags) and it worked a treat. What price for sleeping through the night from 3 weeks??? flexible, cosy, impossible to escape from (haha) and easy to dry. Comfortable for bubs. My little man slept through from 3 weeks! They grow out of them quickly, so buy the next size up.
Great for newborns
I was given the Love to Dream Love to Cuddle Up as a gift for my second baby. For the first bub I used to swaddle him in a muslin wrap. My little girl flings her arms out and wakes herself up without this wrap. it is a gift for me! What price a baby who is sleeping soundly!
It holds firmly and gently and will never unwrap.
This was a gift but I gather they are a bit on the expensive side.
What a great swaddle!
I have the Swaddle UP in 2 sizes - small and medium. We started using it when my baby daughter got too big to swaddle with muslin wraps etc
I love the fact that baby's arms/hands can be up near her face when she's in the swaddle. I find that sometimes she wants to soothe herself by putting her hands in her mouth so this allows that (although the swaddle gets very wet hehe)
You can zip the swaddle from both ends so you can access the nappy without removing the swaddle completely - we've managed to change her nappy overnight without waking...her up :) I also bought the Ergo cocoon but I prefer the Love to Dream Love to Swaddle up, although it is more expensive. Baby's hands can be up near his/her face. Zips from both ends A bit expensive compared to other similar swaddles such as the Ergo
I initially bought this for my newborn baby and have used it every night. It is easy to undo in the middle of the night and can be used in the car (all though we don't use this feature much). My baby seems to get his hands out of wraps so this is great for night time as it gets cooler. They are not cheap but I think well worth it. We only bought one for newborn and 2 for next size up. They also wash up very well.
Expensive but worth it
Just the best!
This swaddle has greatly improved my son's sleep (at night in particular). He used to fight being wrapped then unwrap himself in less than a minute. He would scratch and startle himself in his sleep. We started wrapping him with his arms up as he would prefer this but even when he went to sleep like this he would eventually lose the wrap and then wake because he was cold.
Everything changed with the Love to Dream swaddle. He sleeps so peacefully now. No unwrapping, no scratching, startling, getting cold, and he is in his favourite position where he can touch his face and suck his hands.
Quick and easy, instant calm for bubs
These wraps are great. Light weight, easy to clean and quick to dry.
Bubs is calm once all zipped up. She knows it is bedtime. No unravelling in the middle of a sleep. Can't get tangled in the bed covers.
Light weight, nice soft material
Heaven for parents.
Have used this for my 3rd son and wish wish WISH I had them for my first 2!! So much easier than swaddling baby with a wrap and baby is happy to be snug but still have his hands up near his face. Have found that he settles much quicker and sleeps for longer in the wrap me up rather than swaddled in a wrap or not swaddled for sleep.
Baby settles quickly, sleeps longer, easy to use.
At first, I wasn't too keen on on the wrap as my son kept waking himself up because he kept brushing his face against the wrap. So for the solution, I used hair ties around the arms of the wrap to hold his arms down around his chin. (please note, I didn't tie his arms!!) Once he hit about 8 weeks and lost that startle reflex, I used the wrap normally and he really like it and he is now sleeping really well. He has even slept through the night a number of times :) My other son didn't do this until 4 months old! I'm not a very good wrapper and h...e is a bit of a Houdini at the best of times, so this wrap has been perfect! The material is made to high quality and is soft and looks comfortable. I like how they have the tag on the outside of the wrap so it doesn't irritate the baby's skin. The cover over the zip is big and it doesn't irritate his chin like his Ergo cocoon. Will definitely buy the next size up if he's not rolling too much! Plus he looks so cute in it! He has a grey one so he looks like a little seal! As they say happy baby = happy mother and whoever invented this is a genius! He sleeps so well in it. I have the original one and he doesn't get too hot or too cold in it. It is easy to change their nappy and to use. They are expensive and get quite dirty because he is always sucking on it. It is also getting too short as he is really long and I bought the 6-8.5kg and he is only 6.9kg! Don't think it will last the whole weight limit.
Had this from day one with our newborn in the Lite version as we live in a hot climate and she was born in summer. Perfect fabric weight as she never seems too hot or cold in it (and if it does get cooler, with aircon or something we can throw a blanket over the top).
She sleeps so well in this swaddle wrap! It is so much easier to use than any other swaddle and she can't get her hands free, but she can still suck on them for comfort.
We are about to move onto the next size up as she is almost 5kgs and is almost stretching it to its max..., so if you have a bigger newborn I would almost go straight for the medium size as they are quite expensive (I got mine - the Lite version - for $30 on sale!). Definitely recommend though as she sleeps longer in a swaddle than unswaddled and immediately settles when she is snug. Double-zip for easy nappy changes, lite material is perfect weight for Aussie summer, settles baby well with good arms positioning Quite expensive, only white colour for Lite version which dirties easily
Questions & Answers
We are based in Melbourne with the weather being freezing and having the thermostat set to a constant 19 degrees. What tog rating would I use and what clothes underneath?
They are thin. Probably around 2 tog thinking of my other bags. In Sydney we also have the house around 18 in winter, I put them in long sleeve arms onesie, a thick Bonds onesie and socks.
I have the swaddle up in size small for my 6 week old baby, he weighs 4kg. I have noticed that the material under the zipper is bunching up and almost pushes towards his chin. I'm worried this could be a potential hazard. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it because the swaddle is too big/small?
I noticed with my little guy when he was first born I got him the small and the back of the neck used to dig into his skin and leave red marks, he would pull his arms forward and do it worse.. it wasn’t to small either.
