Great value. Does the job.
Starts every time, 1 pull on choke then choke off and start. Goes good. Take it 4wding and had to use it a couple of times on blocked tracks. Never any issues. mate said it doesn’t go as hard as his stihl but he paid over $800 I paid $199 on clearance. Happy with it.
Good saw for the price
After doing lots or research this was the best value for money and made in Germany. For the same horsepower and bar size I would have paid almost twice this amount for the more better known brands. Unless your using it every day for your work I reckon the Makita is good value. Initially had a problem starting this machine as I would leave the choke on waiting for the first engine kick - this resulting in flooding the engine sometimes. The technique is one pull with the choke on then take the choke off and it goes every time.
As with any ch...
I bought this chainsaw in good faith..what a bomb.
It wouldn't start.
I took it back to Bunnings and they couldn't get it to start and have me a new one.
The new on started once.
Will not start no matter what I do.I have tried cleaning the plug, changing the petrol, using outboard motor starter, pulling the darn cord for 15 minutes.
It will ot stat...it never starts...I will never buy another Makita petrol product.
Most gutless saw I've ever used
This saw wont rev out under any kind of cutting load whatsoever. It will free rev but once you ask it to cut anything the chain stops and the engine just labors and does nothing. I expected more from a Makita product but I was very much underwhelmed by this saw.
It's pretty easy to start.
It's completely gutless.
Great bang for your bucks!
After doing lots of research with this range of saws I went with the Makita DCS 4610. Paid $500 NZD which was by far away the best value for this class of saw. Being a Dolmar saw in blue Makita livery gave me confidence because Dolmar have a great reputation in the chainsaw market. The saw was easy to assemble it of the box. Good instruction manual.
Not a screamer but has a deep exhaust tone and ripped thru Pine, Blue Gum and Oak with relative ease. Chain and bar area is nice and uncluttered which makes it easy to clean coz it did get a bi...t clogged up when ripping logs with the grain. Price, engine size, Dolmar reputation. Easy starting and easy maintenance with a very uncluttered sprocket area. Plenty of torque in the midrange. Chain tensionor access from the bar is dated. Gets a bit clogged up with saw dust when ripping with the grain.
