Dur 189RM Great Line Trimmer but has it's bump feed head problems
yes it is Makita 189RM or 189Z for australian trimmers
RM is with a charger and battery Z is skin only..
i have owed this for 1.5years now and although the 189rm has performed great and replaced my ryobi 2stroke of 20years, it does come with some problems, let me explain
my bump/feed spool pn 456642-2 or whole bump pn 198972-2 came with a LH and RH Arrow of how to spool wire and is extremely confusing as it will only work if done RH arrow so i scratched the LH out on spool after a few hit and misses..
bump feed head Tread is 8mm-1.25mm pit...
Purchased in October 2019 at Bunnings Warehouse for $299.00.
Questions & Answers
Mikita DUR 189. I have problems with the cutting line retreating into the housing after only a few metres of cutting. This happens again and again. I am totally frustrated. The Trouble Shooting section in the manual does not address this problem.
Can anyone please help.
sounds like poor quality line is breaking at the contact point with the reel, you can tell the sound, feel and spin speed all change. If your using the line that came with the unit, then that's the problem. A good quality line should work better.
Thanks for your answer. This could very well be the cause. I will try a different line next time.
How to record the whippersnipper
The housing has press tabs, so easy to take off and on again - spool sits loosely inside the housing, so it too pops straight out. Instructions state to prepare approx 3meters of chord, then need to self wind into the spool. It proved an easy straight forward process, although instructions weren't fully thorough and I had to guess what one particular notch was for.
sorry, can't help. I returned it to the store and received a refund as it was sold to me with inferior cutting line.
What is the part number for a replacement bump head?
