rude check in staff at melbourne airport
The check in staff for Malaysian Airlines at Melbourne airport are extremely rude to check in passengers. The check in staff have a very aggresive attitude to passengers travelling with extra luggage
Very rude check in staff at Melbourne
How could it be so bad?? Heads should roll for this disastrous drop in service!!
As an Asian airline, MH had one up on all Western Airlines.... Good old Asian culture of service.
All this has started to unravel around July or August 2013.
The load factor from Australia on MH has skyrocketed since Qantas stopped almost all flights into Asia apart from the one point to point flight to Singapore. MH was now part of the One World family and many Qantas frequent flyer holders found that they could access MH flights via their points.
MH seems to not have been prepared for this high load factor irrespective of the season (h...igh or low). The experience of check in at the KL International Airport also changed for the worst when in late August the airline pushed all international flights on MH to check in at Row C only. I have experienced lining up all the way back from row C to row H due to the many passengers who are taking MH for their international flights. This in itself could be managed better by having about 6 staff from the airline just managing the queue, ensuring no queue jumping happens, to reassure passengers in the queue of the system to help fast track passengers who were at the back of the queue for flights that were about to close.
temporary membership cards
I traveled, business class , in 2011 to London and return , late December of that year. we were issued with temporary enrich cards, and handed them in each time we had to go through a check in. When I looked this year at our travel points, we had only 1000 points. All I can say, is why issue cards that are ignored by Malaysia airlines. Confident that we had handed in the cards, and after a terrible return flight, from London to KL , caused by a screaming child directly behind us, we simply collapsed when we got home. we were confident that we ...had done the right thing and handed in the temporary membership card, which were quite clear. We lost, in this exercise , all our points, and were told that we had to have our boarding passes.Of course, had I been told that the airline were not going to honor our temporary cards I would have kept the cards, but I expect an airline to do the right thing. I am very annoyed and disappointed in Malaysia airlines. I think that I have the right to expect an airline to honour its temporary mebership cards

No to this airline
I flew from K.L. to Sydney on an overnight flight seated in tourist class. For a new A330/300 the leg room is disappointing and there are no leg rests. The service was perfunctory and the food was inedible.Unless Malaysia airlines improves its service and food, I shall NOT be using this airline again.
expensive and inedible food.
Slipped so much
KUL to BNE - The interior of the A330 undertaking this flight was in an appalling state for a flight of 8 hours. The condition of my seat and indeed the entire aircraft was substantially deficient.
* the front edge of seat 36G had collapsed at the right hand side requiring me to sit twisted and at an angle for the entire flight.
* the light and entertainment controls were not functioning at all on this seat. Without a light, reading was virtually impossible as other passengers dropped the window shades as is their right. ...
Terrible customer service, poor website, cheated me through transaction fee
They're a good airline once you're up in the air. But before that, I've just had issue after issue. All customer service is dealt with in Malaysia; don't be fooled by the Australian phone number. You can barely hear the customer service agents, and they are clueless as to how their own website and airline operates. I rang 3 times and got 3 different responses, as well as 3 different prices. You only know how much you're going to pay until after you've paid it. For example, I was on their AUSTRALIAN website (ie, .com.au) and was purchasing a fli...ght. It came up in US dollars, so I selected the option for AUD, which worked. Later on my card statement it tells me I've been charged a ~50 AUD fee for currency exchange. The staff on the phone refused to acknowledge this. Absolute sham of a customer service. If you can survive that, you'll have a fine experience on the actual flight. Safe, friendly cabin crew Abysmal customer service, based overseas, website is an absolute mess, prices change throughout your transaction
A rip off
I recently flew to KL from Sydney. I had purchased a full fare business class fare and received an itinerary that got me in to KL on Sunday evening in time for meetings etc Monday morning. On arrival at the airport I was told I was not booked on the flight! Eventually it was discovered I had been put on the over night flight leaving at 10 pm. This was just not a goer but I was advised that the plane was full. I suggested that I would go and see if I could purchase a Qantas ticket via Singapore and cancel my Malaysian ticket. Suddenly there were...first class seats available for only $800!! Having been ambushed like this and needing to be in KL that night I had no option but to pay up. To describe the cabin as first class is a joke. No alcohol available on the ground after boarding, dreadful inflight entertainment etc. Never again. I will fly Qantas even if I have to take a non direct flight in future. I would advise anyone thinking of using Malaysian for business to think again. 777 business cabin is good. See above. Ticketing rip off Dreadful in flight entertainment. Poor food.
Disappointing. We'd heard good things about Malaysia Airlines from travel agents and other travellers but our experience did not meet those expectations.
The Business Class lounge at KL is excellent.
Business Class seats are very narrow and cramped and the food was very average. I'd compare it more to the Premium Economy seats and service offered by other airlines. The cabin staff seemed to be very busy bustling up and down the aisles but weren't actually DOING anything, eg, bringing a bottle of water I requested several times. It was disconcerting to see one flight attendant standing up in the galley area as we actually landed!
