Martec Linear MBHL1000
MBHL1000S (Silver), MBHL1000W (White) (See All)Hi,
I bought this Linear 3-in-1 Bathroom Heater with LED Light, Exhaust Fan and Heat Lamp,, the heating lamp blown twice in the last three month and i had t get replaced now it blown again last night and they are not cheap.
Purchased for $450.
I purchased Martec Linear 3 in 1 in November 2021. Just used the heater part for twice and after I used it for around 1 minutes on 22 May 2022, I heard a click/ sound and the heat lamp not working and it seems that the fans started working without I switch on the fan switch. I then switch off all the control switch. I liaised with Martec customer services and explained to them that a normal globe or product won't broke down so easily in any case and I asked them to come and had a look. They just asked me to send in email one by one and no...
Read moret trying to ignore my claim against the faulty globe which I also later found out had burnt other part of the product. They just said that it had been installed improperly. I had asked a proper electrician to install the product and one other product at my other bathroom is still working luckily but I already heard some abnormal sound from the fan operation, this might be another issue with another same product. I can see some adverse comments about these products and I now believe they are true. T The company does not seems to support the after sales services of their products and this is not the right way here in Australia. I begin losing confidence on them and that's why some reviewers are giving bad comments here.Purchased in .
Bought a brand new unit from their approved stockist. Heating lamp blew within 48 hrs. Bought 3 new official Martec MRL1000W halogen lamps - none of them work. Avoid avoid, avoid!
Purchased in for $459.
Purchased this in 2018 and installed by a licensed electrician. Heat lamp stopped working just out of warranty. I purchased a new 1000 watt replacement globe and still not working. Got in contact with the company Mantec and they with my receipt of purchase that I emailed to them of proof of purchase. They stated they would send me a complete new unit which they did saying a good will gesture. I couldn’t believe it as it was just out of warranty. Had to have old one removed and new one fitted by my electrician at a cost. On examining the old on...
Read moree the electrician said it had 3 sealed not repairable fittings related to the heat lamps working, not serviceable. There was also notable rusting on the heat shield curved deflector that was not very good considering it looked like a tin metal material not good for a exhaust fan (moisture!) I have now had the replacement unit in for 12 months and I am reluctant to use the heat lamp even now I have used it only in very cold days when showering. The unit is still working as of 14/5/22 crossed fingers. Hope this helps future buyers.Purchased in for $375.

Heat lamp died within a few months, replaced it one more time for the same to happen then gave up. Then the fan started making horrible noises, pulled it out to inspect and saw that the impeller had sheared in two right through the middle. Utter garbage.
Hi Jen,
I'm so sorry this has happened. Can you please send us an email with your order details so that we can organise a replacement for you as this product comes with a 2 year in home warranty.

Great looking but very noisy and impracticable to service. Replacement light globes had to be ordered online, are expensive and very difficult to replace - globe doesn't just click in- had to remove 4 screws to remove the cover (and this came with its own complications) before finally replacing the globe. Prefer a simpler system - taking my 3 down.
Thanks for your comments Josie. I'm sorry the Linear isn't the right fit for you but I have sent this review to our product development team to take your points on board for future products and updates.

The unit was great until it broke. Just out of warranty, the heater stopped working. No replacement parts, martec said we need to buy a new one. Now after putting up with no heater for a year, the fan has broken. So now its just a few pissy lights. Bought it as my parents had one and rated it... Theirs also broke just outside of warranty. Dont buy this if you want something to last more than 3 years, which, for the price, you'd think that would be a reasonable request.
Purchased in for $357.

Thanks Martec, good try. Just so everyone is aware, I emailed martec and they never replied (its been 2 weeks... think the boat has sailed). So they dont really care after all. They already told me th...

Mounting this unit you have less than 10mm to screw it in and will need to place battens in roof space to screw it in, do not even try to screw it into the Gyprock.
Completely waist of money and time.
If I could score it in the negative I’d give it -5/10.

Nice looking product, that is unreliable. If you want functionality and reliability use older style heating bulbs
Purchased 4 x Martec Linear 3 in 1 white coloured units for my house and a standard rectangular 3 in 1 from domus lighting that uses the old fashioned heating globes but looks quite nice and modern for the granny flat. Three of the Martec Linear units had failed globes in the first week, 1 failed heat lamp and two of the Led lights. Contacted Warranty via email with a copy of the tax invoice they sent out replacement lamps a few weeks later as they were considered DOA. Its a little complicated to change a globe, need to remove 4 screws per unit...
Read more to replace any globe which is a lot more work than needs to be and there is the risk of breaking the glass plate, which slides out if you dont keep the unit level as you remove the screws. After I replaced the faulty lamps, thought the run of bad luck would be over. around 4 months later, another heat lamp failed. I thought the units came with 2 years warranty, so i emailed warranty support, around 1 week later i receive a response that heat lamps are not a warranty item and that i need to contact a stockist to get one. they cost around $40 and not easy to find. If they keep failing at this rate. it will certainly a hole in your pocket, not to mention the hassell of finding a stockist near you who carries them. I previously had 2 ixl tastics with the screw in heat globes with no failures in the 13 years that I had them. The domus 3 in 1 unit is working perfectly, wish i purchased 5 of them instead, much cheaper, easier to install, reliable and is a standard size, so if it fails in the distant future, you can replace with same or many other brands, whereas the the Martec linear you will have to stick with the same product, as the cutout in the ceiling is specific to the Martec Linear. In their defence they look good. But that wears off after a little while and practicality is more important to me in the long run. Sharing my experience with them for you to consider these things before you buy a Martec Linear 3 in 1Purchased in for $360.

We completed our new house in October 2017, we have three Martec Linears installed. Approx 4 months ago, one of them started making a horrendous noise when the fan turned on - after an inspection it was revealed that the fan casing had perished and broken - the whole unit now needs to be replaced. One of the downlights stopped working in another one, not long after installation - the heat globe also stopped about 5 months ago. The third one is still ok but it is rarely used in the guest bathroom. We have to buy a new one, and will use the working globes from that one to fix the other one.. by the way, the two damaged ones weren’t used every day either. Disappointed, they are not cheap products.

Review for Linear Mini installed in small ensuite measuring 9.5 cubic meters. Has been in operation for four months.
Very Stylish.
Light is average.
Heat lamp is poor - barely any warmth when standing directly under it. Ceiling height is 2.4m.
Fan performance is inadequate. Noise level okay.

I loved the look, so bought 2. I now have 2 nice rectangular ceiling ornaments! The heater has blown, but silly me went and bought spare bulbs at $35 each. It wasn't the bulb. The electrical fault cannot be replaced, so it is now a light with a gentle extraction fan. I would love to find out how to replace ot with a good 3rd world knock-off part. The fan sucks at sucking, so my bathroom gets a bit dank with 3 teenagers showering in a sauna. And it is getting some rust on the stainless looking cover. All in all, a regretable purchase.

Our unit was installed by a reputable electrician who has done a lot of work for me, always perfectly.. but we have had problems with the fan & lights.. the fan turns itself on if the lights are left on - even though it is wired to be turned on separately.. it just cuts in & out on its own?? it’s very noisy.. which I could live with if it didn’t turn itself on at random times.. our electrician has rechecked and it is installed correctly.. it must have some internal wiring issues. I plan on throwing it away & changing to a new unit.

We are now on our 3rd replacement over two units.
Now one in the ensuite has a faulty fan and the one in the main bathroom has a faulty heat lamp.
Stay away, I am sure there are better brands out there.
We built a new house and purchased 3 for our bathrooms. Have only been in the house two weeks and have had the electrician back to check as the exhaust extraction was so poor, even with the bathroom window open, so disappointed with this product.

Questions & Answers
Hello
I have 2 of these units in our home installed by an electrician in Sept 2019. Replaced 20 year old IXL Tastic‘s.
I have replaced the heat lamp once in the ensuite about eight months ago. Last week the heat lamp stopped working again- we replaced the lamp @$35 and it still does not work.
Tested the new lamp in the other unit- the new lamp is not the problem.
Any suggestions please ?
Please note fan and LED lights are still functioning.
I also have a martec MBHL1000W which was installed 5 years ago in 2015 for ensuite rebuild
There is another fan that operates above a double shower
the fan on the MBHL1000W failed approx. 2 yrs ago
The heat lamp function still working
Electrician advises its the fan motor which is crapped out
So not sure whether you can get a replacement fan motor, or just to replace the unit with a new one
The cut is already in ceiling
so if one was to upgrade the Martec 3/1, whats out there that will go into the ceiling cut out of 450x300mm, that everyone has a glowing recommendation???
looks like Martec have reduced the warranty period from 3 yrs to 2 yrs for the motor
Hi Brett. I've got exactly the same problem with mine. How'd you go with getting the fan motor replaced?
no luck
out of warranty blah blah blah
I ripped out the fan and just used the air duck (so fan was not obstructing air entry and then installed HPM 150mm inline fan on high to get 400M3/hr...
